It is definitely nice to have, I pay 30 a month for family coverage, that covers my wife and 2 children and myself, you don't have to worrie major health problems, child birth and so on, even if you don't pay your bill they cannot deny you, the hospital or your family doctor doesn't even have access to your over due statement, they have no idea what you owe. It has it's problems though, doctor and nursing shortages in certain provinces, and ya you can get throne onto waiting list, but it doesn't take year to see a specialist like someone previously posted, certainly not in the provinces I have resided in, I can book an appointment to see my doctor and it generally takes 3 days, if its serious you go to emergency ward at the hospital.

I just wanted to show you all that there in a program going on to help with vision.

If an individual or family is eligible, they will be matched with a volunteer doctor of optometry who will provide a comprehensive eye exam at no charge. The doctors are donating their services and may be limited in some areas. Eyewear may also be provided at no cost or for a small fee/donation in some states.

Thats because it's democracy,poor people can qualify for Medacaid isn't that a free program?,move to a p-lace like Australia,where they tax the hell out of you,I worked for a large Aussie corporation the president said in Aus you don't give people raises because they will just have to pay more taxes,he said they gave them boats or a beach house for a bonus,I like it better here no socialism for me,btw company was ACI

All I can say is that you should take a look around outside of the United States and see how life really is in countries where the government has the responsibility for health and education. You'll see higher standards of literacy and living in almost every case. I really can't understand why some Americans are so paranoid about these issues - if the Unites States had the best standard of living in the world, lowest crime rate and lowest mortality then I could see where you are coming from, but its far from it.

Richest country in the world? where has you been in the last year?

The best way to fight the problem in Hawaii was to check income and disqualifying those in higher income.

What many states don't want their people to know is that as the economic crisis is hitting their coffers and they know that federal funding will be cut to pay for the bail out for the wealthy, the poor as usual will be the one getting the short hand of the deal.

Still the poor will get thier health care and those tax payer citizens will be forwarding the bill.
