Tell him to get a TI-89 - only way someone like me got through high school

hell, i spent more time trying to cheat the system with that calc. then actually learning haha.. although u can program on it too, its pretty cool, but it will do all those for him automatically if you can program it correctly

also, how does he feel being home school then going to college? always wondered about that

He was only allowed the TI-83 during chemistry class at home.

He had a better education at home than he ever could have gotten here in Louisiana. He also feels that Homeschooling was an advantage.

He had to be self motivated all his gradeschool years, I used Robinson Curriculum as the core and supplemented science, also saxon math.

He learned HOW TO LEARN this way, also he learned to do his work without having someone hold his hand the whole way.

This he feels is a huge advantage when transferring to the University Environment.

Yeah, I mean totally, what I was getting at is how the transition like socially is, I have no doubt he learned xyz with you sitting there and not staring at "chesty la rue"

WHAT MAKES YOU THINK HE DIDN'T HAVE A NORMAL SOCIAL LIFE JUST BECAUSE HE WAS HOMESCHOOLED?

(sorry hit caps lock, not retyping - not yelling)

That myth is the biggest lie about homeschooling that exists today.

He was still active in sports, arts, shooting & hunting clubs, chess clubs, etc. My house has ALWAYS been filled with kids on the weekends.

And I stopped looking over their shoulders once they learned all the mult & Div tables by heart

What makes me think that?

Because he is not around his peers all day, either being made fun of (me unfortunately, yes I was the fat kid) or making fun of someone else, getting beat up etc.. all parts of being in a "school" environment

Thats cool if that wasn't a problem for him, although I know for some the transition would be difficult, esp. if there was an underlying disorder like I have (adhd/umbrella anxiety), it still was anyways without the vyvanse

Believe me, all the juvenile teasing happened just the same, just it happened AFTER study hours.

My son was diagnosed as borderline adhd very young. I didn't believe in treating it with a drug that mimics coc aine in the brain. I learned about teaching/learning styles and allowed him the freedom to be a Kinetic learner (look it up if the term is unfamiliar) Public/Private schools would have never allowed that to happen.

I also helped him learn to focus through drum lessons. Enough movement to satisfy the body & as each routine progressed, so did his concentration levels.

I worked in the medical field for too long to fall for the "I can't control my kid, they must be ADHD" cop-out. I also learned in those medical field years that true ADHD is VERY RARE and it take an extensive battery of tests to give a positive diagnosis.

It is the most over-diagnosed condition there is today, and FOR THE MAJORITY it is not the child that has a problem, but the parent who cannot parent.

Anyway, enough off topic chatter, You go back to being bullish

hahhaha cool

yeah, that good you can do that with your kid, most dont have that opp. or even want to, but its prob. the best way in theory, but its hard to say what would have happened when "x" occurred rather than "y"

and like i always said, i really wish i would have had those in school, it def. would have been different, but thats cool, i learned things "my way" as well

Psychiatrists do like diagnosing people. I was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder...hm...like 3 years ago. I had a psychotic breakdown with paranoia and delusions, and basically my college and my parents forced me to go to a psychiatrist (and I was subsequently committed), and gave me a lot of drugs which helped but had horrible side effects. I really don't even know if I have that disorder or not...my grandmother is schizophrenic. I hope I don't have any lasting mental illnesses

Reminds me of the south park where they think Cartman is a robot (awesomo-5000) and he keeps coming up with new Adam Sandler stupid movies to make cash

"Night of a Thousand $hits" I believe is the title, you can watch it free on southparkstudios.com, its hilarious

I love south park so much. I hated it when I was like middle school and high school, but like a year ago I sat down at the computer and went on southparkstudios and watched, literally, every single episode (except the first season which sucks). It really is hilarious. I also like the episode about the recession and how stan goes to all these people trying to return this blender his dad got and he ended up on wallstreet and then the treasury and they were going to give him 1 trillion dollars for nothing

I was the fat kid as well until I literally became obese in 8th grade. I felt so bad about myself. I then decided to starve myself until I lost weight. I literally did not eat and only consumed some v8 10 calorie juice and ate maybe an apple here or there. I lost 100 pounds in 5 months. Unfortunately I became addicted to it to the point I began throwing up food if I ate it because "I would gain all the weight back". I was so deluded that I thought some crackers would make me gain weight. That was really difficult. Not to mention I took accutane for my acne as well which gave me horrible side effects.

Anyway something interesting on natural gas. Barclay's came out today with a piece that said we have not seen the low for natural gas yet, which is opposite to what Goldman Sachs said. Both firms have a huge presence in the commodity trading markets (Barclays had their own and basically took over Lehman's as well).

This will be interesting. I wonder if there will be a little war over the price between these firms so they can brag to clients that they called the movement of natural gas correctly?

Isn't that natural rather than funny? Japan is the land of the rising sun, so the national currency should adjust to the natural geographic condition. When the sun is rising over Tokyo, it sits low on the horizon over the Pacific ready to set, as the folks living in Santa Monica, Calif. can vouch for. And so the relationship between the rising yen and the falling dollar is pretty logical and nothing to worry about. But tell that to the Japanese marketeers . . .

TOKYO, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Japan's Nikkei stock average slid 2.5 percent on Wednesday, dragged down by exporters hit by a stronger yen . . .

HSI closed up 365 AGAIN and Nikkei was up by 173 for 9/17.

I was thinking of going long before the open, but those regulation T restrictions on poor investors would mean I run the risk of being identified as a "pattern day trader" if I had to sell this week. Don't care to do 90 days in prison.

Definitely not about earnings and employment in the Shanghai Indian markets. When a buy or sell signal comes along the first ones in or out get a chance to sell or buy with a larger differential.

And speaking of employment.

The number of Americans filing first-time claims for jobless benefits fell unexpectedly last week, a sign the labor market is deteriorating at a slower pace as the economy pulls out of the recession.

The pre market FAZ is not trading any shares at 19.98 but FAS just rolled up past 88.

Once again...you don't get in trouble if you sell this week. Only if you seel in the same day that you bought.

Yeah, it can scare you into a "phobia"

I literally worked out for 2 hours a day for 1.5 years straight every f***kin day and didnt eat fast food at all, just ate like "real food" lol - and lost about 75 lbs in a little over a year, but it was hard hard work

It was funny because when I was fat, I thought being skinny would make me worries go away, nope.. lol...

But seriously, who thinks we just topped out this morning at just shy of 9800?
