Is this the beginning of the end of mankind

There has been alot of talk about 2012 and the lead up to it with everything due to start around now ultimately reaching a peak in 2012.

Is this indeed the first steps towards the end of mankind have we entered the first faze of mans ultimate distruction the Bible, the Myan, and Aztec along with many other forecast doom in this time frame.

How many false predictions in the past have created a cry wolf senario is this infact the real thing or is it just a ripple in the existance of mankind.
