Wasnt really sure where to post this i wasnt allowed to post it where i wanted in general information and research lol. but i was thinking would it not be an interesting idea for ats to host a ventrillo channel with different rooms for discussions? it would probably be a very productive process as well as a center for hot headed arguments but we already do that with the texts a ventrilo channel would just add onto the sustinance of the forums. only thing is we would need alot more admins around to maintain the behavior of the ventrilo channel

I have it and use it for other things but I just don't see ATS on vent....unless we somehow get everyone drunk

ATS does not need Ventrilo they have their own chat format already. It is located in the menu between FAQ and submit.

I like its bells and whistles..been there a few times.

i really like the idea of ATS vent... it's like, why not??

we've got this MutterBox now, and i thought how nice it would be if we could just all join in in a Ventrilo server and talk instead of type...

of course, a mod would always have to be present, but i wouldn't mind moderating it as much as i can myself

is there any reason we shouldn't or can't get an ATS/BTS Ventrilo server to talk to each other??

i don't see what it could hurt at all!

I have a ventrilo server that can hold 80 people at any given time and has a channel set up for ATS at the top of the list. I can set up sub channels as well
The server info is *snip*

ATS round table discussions is the ATS channel and it is password protected so that other users who are not from ATS cannot enter the ATS channel.

ATS channel password is *snip*

Mod Edit: Removed pending u2u discussion.

Chances of an Official ATS Vent Server: 0

I'm pretty sure the staff would say the same thing about Vent as they have numerous times about IRC: they don't want the hassle of trying to moderate and regulate such a medium of discussion. As for folks grouping up and using such a medium I doubt they have any problems with that, especially if it brings a little more life blood back into the Podcasting section.

Getting people on at the same time is a problem. Maybe we should set up a meeting time.

I made this same suggestion years ago, using Ventrilo or Teamspeak, or even to setup an ATS IRC channel. I think what is popular though is Skype between some of the members/mods/admin here. I believe they use it for some of the ATS/BTS Mix podcasts, as well as other things. In fact if you'll notice, Springer (Mark) has a Skype address right in his mini profile- MarkatAbove.

But much like ATS chat, people would want to mostly make small talk about the weather and such, or chat about subjects of no real interest to me, which is why I would rarely participate. Make a subchannel about 911 or the imminent revolution though and I might see ya there.

last i checked, Skype costs money, and Vent's free (sounds MUCH better than TeamSpeak, too!)

and yes, arranging a meeting time would be nice as well!

That won't happen.

ATS is a discussion board, we are primarily writers. Having a place like vent would be way too hard to moderated and there is no way to "add" content to a vent server because it's all done in speech.

Our goal is to compile information about conspiracy theories and discuss them. They are then archived so many thousands more can come and learn about those things.

i agree but understand people like myself find it hard to put a message across on / in text when we find speech a much easy way of doing so

kind thing ^^)

Ohh I can certainly understand how it would be beneficial to some members who have a hard time conveying they're thoughts in English.

There might be a better solution to that end however.

What if ATS incorporated a foreign language translator directly into the website, that would greatly improve that sentiment

Not hard to moderate at all. I am server admin and will enforce the same rules as ATS chat and forums in our vent channel.

There was no small talk in vent today. We jumped right into UFO discussion followed by Jesuits, 9/11 and various other ATS subjects.

Once an ATSer. ALWAYS an ATSer.
