Its strange...

The russians have been moving VERY VERY slowly on thier way here...

its been 2 weeks now... moving thru the Medetranin sea... Very slowly...
Showing thier power... Stoping at places...

They will be getting over into the Americans right before the election...

October surprise...

[edit on 10/11/2008 by TKainZero]

I really fail to see the point of your post.

The Russian national anthem somehow proves that Russia will attack America? With all 3 of its mighty warships?

The MSM has used and abused you yanks.

I really dislike threads like this because everyone deviates from the title of it and start a WAR about My Country is Better than yours and so forth.

Yes, Navies around the world conduct various exercises with other countries, for example NATO countries do this every year involving US, UK, Portugal, Canada, France, Germany...etc, etc, etc. Does this mean that this countries are up to something each year? NO!

And YES, Russia has been involved in a lot of debate regarding different countries, but this exercise has nothing to do with conquering the world!

So, to get back on track here! We understand the significance of this exercise between Russia and Venezuela but before starting a battle with our members over this, lets just watch and see what develops during this exercise.

Over and Out!

People...

Get a grip on reality here...

Tell me the last time there were Soviot ships in the Americas...

Ok, ill tell you, a little think called the CUBAN MISSLIE crisis...

Also, this Ship, Peter the Great, has a NUclear missile arsnial..

This is a BIG deal.
Weather you like it or not...

Now, most of the people on this board are singing the Praises of the Soviots. But that is just showing your anti-american colors...

For the first time in almost 50 years...
The Soviots are back on our turf, with Nueclear MIssiles...

Not a joke...
Not something to be happy about...

[SNIP]

The last time Russian ships were in the United States Sphere of Influence was in 1961...
Also the last time a Nation had Nuclear arms within range of the American Mainland...

Almost 50 years ago. At the Height of the Cold war, and also coresponding to the Height of power for the Soviot Empire.

I put the music there beacuse it sets the Mood... and realise that this ISN'T the Russian's Federation's Music... This is the anthem of the of the Soviots... And, it sounds nice...

Now whats going to happen... who knows... but it certainly is an event that ins't your everyday run of the mill...

It is true that the nations on this planet have joint military exercises. All the time. The US-UK... US-France... US-Skorea... US-Cannada... MANY MANY countries...

Not often though does it invole a country whose leader calls us the Great Satan.

No where have i said that the Soviots will attack the US... [SNIP]

At the end of October, the Warships will be in the Carribean. The entire country will be wakeing up to the election... and they are going to see images of the Pride of The Soviot Navy...

Peter the Great... a Massive navel ship... a fine one at that...
And where is it going, to Venezulea, to work with Hugo Chavez...

Now, mabye i have to Explain WHO is hugo chavez... i cannot expect you to remeber what you ate for breakfast, nevermind who Chavez said at the UN 3+ years ago... Chavez has LONG hated the US... Going back to his failed coup attempt in the early '90's where he claimed the CIA put down his coup effort. Hugo models himself after Fediel Castro.

Chavez likes to see himself as the 'leader' of Venezulea. But not only the Head of state, but the head of the militiary, news, and social positions. He dresses in military outfits, and surrounds himself with his bodyguard.

Chavez also nationalized the bueisness of Venezula, closed down all opposition Media, jailed/killed anyone who demonstrates against him. And has fixed the results of MANY Ballot initiatives. Anything he wants to win it wins by a wide margin, if he is defeated, the result is reported at 51-49...

Chavez, within the last 2 years, has threatened military action against its neighbors... then, realiszing that Venezulea has no army/navy/airforece to speak of, a couple of years back, Venezuela chnged its direction. It began to build realations up with ANY country that would speak out against America with it...

So Iran Came... and has given Ven. Billions...
Then Russia came... has given warplanes, tanks, and arms...
And China came... and given HUGE amounts of money, and infristructure...

Chavez is also the closest friend of Castro. During Chavez reign as Ruler, he has visted the island nation Dozens of times. making speaches with castro, praising how Castro had handled his affairs with the US...

But what does this all mean.. and where does Russia fit in...

Lets look back a couple months and relate this to a situation in Russia Back Yard.

Georgia takes the place of Venezula, and the US and Russia.
The US trained, and did military ops with Georgia for several years.

Now... the roles is reversed, instead of the US in the Soviiots back yard, the Russains are here in our BackYard... Training an enemy...

What is this going to mean for the US Mainland... probaly nothing... Chvez even in his most insane power trips wouldnt think of attacking the US... not unless russia gives him a nuke...

But what about Venezuelas neighbors...
Venezulea and Colombia have had a falling out over the last decade. Venezulea claims the Coulumbia has become a pawn of the US. A couple years back, Venezulea and Peru started to amass troops on the coulimbia boarder... nothing came of it, but the situation is still brewing...

But what about Venezuleas smaller nieghbors... Aruba, Bonnaire, Curical, and the islands of the lesser antilies...

Who knows... Venezulea owns several small islands north of the mainland... and, probaly wouldn't mind having the other ones...

Who would they fight then... Most of these islands are not independent Nations...

Take Aruba, a independent state within the Kingdom of the Netherlands...
Is little Holland going to battle...

This is a sitution to watch...
Is there going to be big fireworks as soon as they get to the carribean... probaly not...
A few years from now...

Who knows... Venezuleas neighbors can't like the sight of it...

So, whats the october surprise that i am talking about...
The surprise that Soviot ships are in our hemisphere for the first time in nearly 50 years...

Now... to me, thats a big deal...
Its going to be the first time in MY LIFE that Major Battleships of a Major forigen nation, are going to be in our backyard...

But... im not the average person... so if this doesnt intrest you, just go back to watching American Idol

What arsenal this ship has is a closely guarded secret of the Russian Navy, as it should be - you do not know what the ship carries. Does it matter whether Russia can destroy the world by use of ships or by use of ICBMs? It is mutually asured destruction that prevents any nuclear action, not logistical launching capabilities.

I see. So are these "Soviots" of yours hiding in the closet next to the boogeyman, with thier nuclear missiles and what not?

Today's Russia is not Soviet Union. Today's Germany is not the Third Reich. Today's Mongolia is not the Golden Horde. Today's Italy is not the Roman Empire.

Those who only see the past in the present, are but living in the past themselves.

Russia and China have possesed ICBM's within range of the American mainland for a long time. What can a ship do, that an ICBM cannot?

What is "run of the mill"? Is the US Navy patroling the world's oceans whereever and whenever it pleases "run of the mill"? Is US invading sovereign nations "run of the mill"? Is US threatening to invade more sovereign states in the future "run of the mill"?

Perhaps the mill isn't running in the right direction. Perhaps the problem is the current "run of the mill".

Along with 1/2 of the rest of the world. What is your point? If you are going to antagonize everybody who hates you, you will only breed more hate. If people or nations "hate" you or your leadership, you shouldn't assume they are out to get you. The very reason they hate you may be that they mistakenly (or not) believe that you are out to get them.

He is no worse than many dictators whom the US government bred and sponsored. What is the point of describing the authoritarian government in Venezuela? There are Authoritarian government all around the world. Democracy is not an easy system to establish in third-world countries. US has not contributed much to process, and in some cases impeded the process if it did not coincide with its foreign policy.

Chavez is an indirect US creation. He is an unforseen consequence to arrogant US policies throughout Latin America in the last 60 years.

Those are the personal matters of the two states. If Venezuela engages in aggressive military action against its neighbor, then you can start throwing blame and accusations around. At this point nothing suggests that the disagreement between the two is going to get violent.

And US probably wouldn't mind invading half of the world. Does that mean that nations should stop doing all business with the US, and should treat it with hostility as an enemy. Just because you think someone has evil intentions, does not mean that they do. More than likely it means that you misunderstand their intentions.

THERE ARE NO SOVIET SHIPS IN THE WESTERN HEMISPHERE, OR THE EASTERN HEMISPHERE.

This is so primarily due to the little known fact that SOVIET UNION DOES NOT EXIST.

This is no big deal, I'm amused by the alarmism here.

This small SAG would have a rough time engaging a CVBG off the Russian coast with air support, let alone attacking the US in our own hemisphere.

The Russians are showing the flag, training, exercising, and making port calls in friendly countries, just like we do, all the time

There is nothing overtly threatening in this deployment, and the idea that they represent any serious covert threat is silly.

No doubt they are being shadowed by USN attack boats the entire time

Maloy, weather you want to admit it or not, your country lost the cold war.

The Soviots lost buddy.
You are no longer a world super-power...

The US is the lone remaining Super-Power... Which is why countries look towards the US for Military adcive and training.

I am an American.
I look out for the intrests of America.

You are a Russian (from what i can tell) and you look out for the intrests of Russia.

To me, this is a big deal... its not an urgent emergency(which seems to be the only thing that gets peoples attention).

But this the start of a new era.

Thats the truth.

When the US has military operastions with the Ukraine or Georgia, or Poland... IM SURE the Russians are pissed off as hell.

This is a situtiation to keep an eye on.
This is the start of a new era...
And new Russia is rising.

And im sorry Soviot is a dirty word to you maloy

Personally I don't think Russia really means anything hostile directly towards the USA.

If you've noticed the US has had a severe loss in international leverage. Russia lost their true super power status a while ago. With this power vacuum Russia is simply trying to do what any good country or company would do and that is to try and grab as much international leverage as they can.

Russia is taking advantage of the US's bad luck/administration and are establishing their presence again around the world like in the middle east, in the eastern europe area, and in south america and asia.

it's likely that they have no intention to harm the US directly in some sort of military conflict but that they just want to be on an even playing field globally with the US and a major player again.

much like how an aging fighter who has fallen from the limelight want's to be back on top again. except they don't have to do it using direct violence but through shrewd business contracts and dealings to distribution of assets.

True it will spell another cold war. but that's fine with me. it sorta reminds me of the 80's in which I grew up in. the cold war is sorta like a warm security blanket that reminds me of my childhood. if that makes any sense.
