That's got to be the one of the most remarkable claims in GM to date. Is this just hyperbole? I mean does anyone actually understand what limits (if any) the Fed has, anyway?

It's not hyperbole. He's dead serious, and he's been remarkably spot on in calling the details of this crisis/meltdown/whatever you want to call it.

I'm a little freaked out right now.

Getting ready to head to our home in the country if they freeze market and declare martial law.

If credit cards stop working and banks freeze assets you know the $hit is going to hit the fan.

When people on wall street are saying it's not to late to sell something is jacked up. Market Crash not to late to sell.

you know I have been holding back on that, but I really think it may be time to get some more of that worthless money out, and get some more food. I just dont know what to do, I am trying not to let fear drive me, but man, how do you not right now? I dont think it is so much fear anyway as it is a need to be prepared.

not sure if this has been mentioned in the thread

but "rumor" has it that Japan at the G7 conference may prpose to use tons of central bank foreign dollar reserves to head home to the treasury to help bailout this mess, i believe there are trillions $ worth, that may actually be an amount high enough to plug some major holes

I'm not sure what (if any?) major consequences would be for the $ as world reserve currency and all the bells and whistles that the u.s economy is afforded by having every other country in the world hold tons of dollars and then in turn invest lots of them in treasury debt. Perhaps a U.S treasury default - that would be bad = no more currency

I laughed hard, very nice skit.

I honestly doubt anyone is going to war yet. It's boiling up though. If someone attacks Israel right now it's over.

With Russia testing their missiles off of Alaska, N Korea reactivating their nuclear plants and mobilizing 14000 ICBM's, and troops massing on the border of Israel I believe something big is about to happen. But not within the next 24 hours.

Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.

I figure non-perishables I can eat for the next year or two even if things take a complete dump. What good is my money doing me if I don't have enough to feed the family. I can't eat gold, silver and paper money, but I sure can eat if I stock up on dry goods.

The indicator will be banks freezing assests, credit, or debit, then you know people will freak out. I truly hope this does not happen.

That is pretty big..let me see if I can explain what I think this means..and you can tell me if I have it right..

I picture the big debt monster chasing after the money..like in recent videos. But now the monster caught the money and there is none left? That is..as banks get deposits they can 'create' money..that created money is then deposited and in diminishing returns the cycle continues. But now, since no one is issuing loans and creating money...including the central banks...the central bank that would normally issue the 'new' or 'big money'..is out of that money? They have nothing left?

Is that where we are at? Isn't that something that the MSM would even get a hold of and report on? Because they don't seen all that worried atm lol

HUGE difference between a credit card offer and getting approved. You will propably as i have see even more of these going out. Banks are fishing for solid individuals to add to there books. Markets like this will make some so much money it's silly. If/when we come out of this you talk of the smaller banks of the 90's/00's. The ones who service will be massive.

Also alot of that marketing is paid for in advance and the name and address lists have already been bought, so as a lender may as well send them out.

I have a question that is rooted in the past, is oil and grain down because of less being used or is because no one is bidding on it? I can see the reduction in oil demand however people still have to eat.

It means that the Federal Reserve has NO Treasuries left and no Agencies (GSEs) left - they have 'maxed-out' their balance sheet.

100% (and actually sometimes MORE) is now lent out.

They have to either buy the long end....or.....drain the swamp and pull Ts back on to the balance sheet. The problem is, that is mostly all very short term paper.

They're broke, bluntly. They can't loan what they don't have.

From tickerforum - site is locked right now but will probably be up later this evening.

Awesome. I'm ready for a career change. I'm studying finance but I guess I can take a break and become a warrior. I always wanted to be a post-apocalyptic freedom fighter.

I'm just waiting for something major to happen so I can dust off the AK and make a clan. Wanna be part of my clan, PM me. We gonna use ventrilo when the # hits the fan and we will also use portable morse code machines, cause we gotta diversify our communications devices. We'll do it live.

Remember to act if the coming depression is real! Pay the people responsible for this a visit. Every depression or other change in wealth is carefully manipulated by few men, owning the world.

And now for a FAST breaking news story. I have just had a buttload of military helicopters fly over at low altitude. Where I am, there's NO bases, no nothing military. These werent even NEAR the usual plane routes, either.

Run run run as fast as you can!!! They found your stash dude!!

Do military helicopters and aircraft have to follow commercial plane routes? Nope. Maybe Odd that you have never noticed them, but I doubt that was the first time that happened.

I'm in South East Michigan. I've been following these posts for a day now. Selfridge Airforce Base is only a few miles away and I haven't seen or heard a single military aircraft yet. All is very calm here. Just my 2 cents. now worth 1

Please, can you give your observational location, estimated number, type, insignias/flight group logos and direction of travel for these aircraft?

The term "buttload' has no numeric reference and can mean an exorcise, troop movements or an event response.

All your statements can do is throw uncertainty on an anxiety fire. Facts are valuable now, but reactive can only hurt.

Thank you in advance for any details.

Although it would be highly amusing. Now I'm sitting here rereading your quote and chuckling.

Great discussion going on here, I know very little of economics and thankfully, but I have been reading this entire thread and taking notes. I've already started a small supply cache (Peanut butter, rice, flax seed oil, canned pinto beans), and will be contacting my reps today. Also, I just got canned from my job yesterday. Now I have more time to write.

very soon the boon will become illuminated

all days fade and change as part of the great ancient
stay patient and let go of your complacent face
peel back the mask and ask for forgiveness
heal this place and shape your days

I live in High Point, NC- and and while they may not fly commercial plane routes, they were low enough for me to about sneeze on them, and going so fast, they were pitched forward a good deal. This was followed, oddly enough, by a police copter going in the opposite direction equally as fast, and as low. Any lower and they honestly would have hit a tree. Or a power line. There's not much up here military wise, Fort Bragg is some ways away (96 mi)- and All we have is furniture- factories, showrooms, ect. Greensboro has an airport, but it's just an airport.

As for not noticing them? This place shudders awful- and the NOISE! I thought they were landing ON the place. I woulda noticed something like that some time ago, trust me.

Something similar happened in Winston Salem a few days ago- Military flyovers while I was at the fair with friends- a friend of mine who knows almost every cop in the city (minus the cute, single female ones- figures) asked- No one had a clue. While I figured it was a demo of some sort- there wasn't a military presence I could find AT the fair, no recruiters, ect.
