Does anyone else feel that the US government has failed the very people that have put it into place?

You can blame the banks and their executives all that you want, but IMHO the government failed to protect and serve the people that they are supposed to represent.

I don't advocate any individual and/or party in the upcoming elections.

I DO however advocate the right of every eligible US citizen to vote.

Know the issues, know the candidates and their stances on the major issues that effect YOU, investigate inconsistencies in candidate stances, CALL THEM OUT, and VOTE.

Our government is due for a major shake-up in order to remind ALL of our representatives exactly who put them there and what their job is.

Stand up for yourself and VOTE!

The Bush administration has failed the people. Senate and Congress went along for the ride.
I would vote accordingly.

Yes. The government as a whole has failed us uncategorically. I urge everyone to vote AGAINST every incumbent. No exceptions. From your local election to Washington. Every single one out. Send a clear and unequivocal signal to all politicians. We're done. We have a prime opprtunity to let governmentknow that we CAN come together and they WILL be held accountable.

Really? Bush, huh? You do realize this economic crisis has been set up for failure since Jimmy Carter, right? In fact, the Republicans tried to bring this up, but were shut up by the Dems (the only thing the Dems accomplished in the two years they have been in control of Congress).

That being said, the Government sucks. Nothing worse than a politician, except maybe a child molester.

Watch the Zeitgest movie. They have some intelligent strategies for undoing the dammage that is being caused by predatory bankers and corrupt politicians. These strategies do not involve volunteering to be used as target practice for government thugs.

I, for one, have notified every one of my elected officials that as far as I am concerned, they are TOAST! Mark Pryor comes up for re-election next year. I think it's time the Senator joined his ex senator father in retirement.
I have to wait until 2011 to get rid of Blanche Lincoln. It's time for her to go home and see if she remembers how to practice medicine.
I'm not sure, but I think Marion Berry is out next year too.
If we want to avoid our government falling any further into socialism, we need to get a Republican Congress, or a bunch of independents.

I agree. We need to "reboot" the system, for lack of a better term.

Eisenhower said to beware what he called the military-industrial complex. I think this is what he was talking about. And it is now painfully obvious that the government has been in bed with them for a long time.

The government has failed the people but to some extent the people have failed america by voting in these idiots to the whitehouse.

No, we failed each other, we the people who elected those government officials. It was those who didn't add their voice by voteing, and those who voted in ignorance.

We failed the people...Red blooded Americans did this to each other.

See this on going thread of a passionate nature for an ATSer interation of a spirited nature.

The government isnt actually suppose to protect or serve the people no matter what the circumstances.

The only responsibilty the US Government has to the people is the protection of the rights of the individual.

The market problems are just that, market problems. The government technically has no right to interfere with failing banks or businesses no matter the consequences.

BTW, it was theorised by many financial "experts" that during the great depression if Herbert Hoover or F.D.R. had ordered a large increase of cash to be printed and given directly to the people, the Great Depression could have been resolved in just a couple of years as apposed to the 10+ years it actually took with the "New Deal." Kinda makes me think about those stimulus packages. Did Bush and his people actually see this crisis and try to delay it till he got out of office? Another 3 or 4 months and it would have worked. Sadly our debt is so great that printing more money will only hurt us more.

The government did not fail the people. The people failed to hold the government to the constitution. They are still failing to hold the people who represent them accountable to the constitution. When the people allow traitors
to undermine our founding document this is what they get.

We let them do what ever and when ever they wanted.
We questioned nothing..then cry they let us down.

when in fact we elected them we pay there salary...
yet do you protest or write your congressman?

surely you can see my point.
