I was wondering what would happen if you forgot to close your chakra. For the last few weeks I have been focusing white energy into my crown chakra before I go to sleep. This usually helps me relax and fall a sleep easier. Last night though I think I fell a sleep before I closed my chakra. Now today I am extremely light headed but it feels like my entire body is this way. My urine is a healthy color so I know I am not dehydrated. I ate breakfast this morning so I know I am not malnourished. The only other possibility is I took a muscle relaxer for my neck in the evening but that was well over 12 hours ago. I am not ruling out the muscle relaxer though. The only reason I don't think its the relaxer is because this is the first time I felt this way and I have taken it many times before. Although this is the first time I think I forgot to close my chakra.

Any advice would be nice. Of course this is all speculation at this point.

I'd check and see if it was open. If it was, then I'd close it.

What is a chakra?

I am adding this line due to the RIDICULOUS rule that you cannot make a one line post, even when asking a clarifying question.

What is the procedure of closing the chakra? Is there a handle, or a valve? Does it ever get stuck in the open position?

Hello there, I am not quite sure what you mean here as far as your chakra being open. I am of the understanding that your chakras are always open, unless some damage has been done to them in which case can cause a closing off of the chakra which is a bad thing. Through enlightenment we seek an opening of our chakras so that more energy can flow through, which is a good thing, a closing off would be a deminshing of the work done to evolve or train our bodies to use and deal with the flow. To me you sound as if you are coming out of a deep peaceful meditation, maybe you didn't "sleep", maybe you just meditated deeply all night. Anyways I could be way off but I thought I would add what I know in hopes of helping. Take care.

LOL...is this a serious question? The idea is to keep your Chakras OPEN! It's not like a seance or a ouija board, you don't close them when you are done. You work hard to open them and then you try to keep them open!

I think you are having fun in this post, but where is your "one chakra" anyway?

From my understanding when charging/meditating with chakras you open them in a figurative sense in order to pull more energy into them. When your done you/I close them so that negative energy cannot enter. I am new to charging my chakras and I don't want them open all the time as I don't have the defenses yet to keep the negative energy out.

As far as to what chakra I was working with it was the Sahasrara or Crown.

To the person asking what is a chakra check the link I just posted.

No, I am not having fun with this thread I was asking a legitimate question.

Thanks for your post. If I did indeed meditate all night that could explain the vivid almost lucid dreams I have been having since I started this. Either way thank you for your thoughts.

As far as I know there is no valve...lol. I more of less visualize all the chakras as a fountain starting at the base of the back/groin area. From there it builds up to the head/crown area where it "bursts" and then rains down around me. I then reverse this "thought" and this is how I close them when I am done.

Whether this is the 'right' way to do it or not I don't know. It is the way I found best for me.

Come on people! Have we really arrived at a point where you need to make fun of someone's simple, innocent and honest belief in something that has NO impact on you, other than granting you the fortuitous moment of feeling more superior at someone else's expense?

I do know much about chakras, but perhaps someone who does might actually stumble into this thread and answer your question.

Good luck.

Hey, Hope this helps

Once your balancing meditation is complete you should close your chakras. Different people do this in different ways, some suggest that a delicate closing is all that is required, whereas others prefer to lock them tightly. I favour the gentle approach as, intuitively, this feels right for me, but you may feel that you require a more secure closing. Experiment to see what works best for you. The gentle close is very peaceful and relaxing, simply imagine each chakra in turn as a flower, gently closing it's petals at the end of the day. You can use your creative imagination to select a flower that is suitable. Many people choose a lotus for the crown and a pink rose in a nest of green leaves for the heart. Use the colour of each chakra to help you choose a suitable flower. You do not have to stick with flowers, I usually imagine an eye closing down softly for my brow chakra. There are no hard a fast rules, just experiment and do what feels right for you. If you feel that you require a more secure closing then imagine the chakra centre sealing closed as though spherical shutters are sealing it within. Once closed seal the chakra with the imagine of a small cross inside a circle (be sure the cross is vertical like, '+' not, 'x') After sealing the shutters shrink the whole thing down to the size of a pinpoint. As you complete this exercise you will feel a sense of security, so if you usually feel particularly vulnerable, this method is probably for you. Closing the chakras protects you from negative energy, so it is always a good idea to do it before you go out into the world, especially if you are going to be near stressed or unhappy people. However, there is an alternative.

As for closing down your chakras, you don’t really want to do that. The more energized your chakras are, the better you will feel, and the better your life will flow. What you may be thinking of is shielding yourself, which is something you want to do if you are around someone with aggressive energy, or someone trying to leech your power from you. To shield you can imagine putting up a shield of white or gold energy around your whole body, leaving you cocooned inside. Or you can imagine a mirror in front of you reflecting the person’s negative energy back on them. I also like to use my power chakra (#3) as a shield if I know I’m going to be around someone with an aggressive or controlling energy. I imagine my yellow power chakra forming outside my body like a shield. It helps me project authority in the face of someone trying to “take me down” or belittle me.

Thank you Loam and Blupblup for your comments and support.

To clarify my question: Is it possible to over charge a chakra? For someone experienced that is probably not possible, but for a novice with no tolerance (only way I could think to describe it) is it possible.

Thanks for the link. I am at work so I'll read it off and on through out the day. Kinda interested what the balance test will show. Although I don't think I will put my 100% faith into what it says( the test that is).

I missed this post, but this is what I am doing at night. Although I wasn't intentionally doing it to shield myself. I was doing it to relax. On the other hand feeling safe should induce a sense of relaxation. This has raised a few more questions, but I am not sure how to put them at this point in time. Think I will chew on them for a bit before I post them.

Hey there, I just wanted to say I believe Sonya is right on with this one. Closing in these terms would be more of a precationary measure when You think you may need extra protection but then it starts to come down to how you look at things and choose to deal with them. For instance the way I work is I preffer to keep them open even at the worst of times. Dealing with and processing the good with the bad, in my opinion, will make me better at dealing with them in the future and can help towards your enlightenment and seeing the whole picture. I don't feel it it is healthy to make it a habit of shielding because you feel you need to, to be protected, practice shielding so if needed you can use it but don't make it a way of life. I can honestly say I have never used shielding, that I was aware of, and I have had some pretty bad things to deal with in my life and I believe I always come out better for it.
Why close off your chakras and deminsh the work you've done to open them to greater sences, experience it all the way it was ment to be. Maybe you will find more good in yourself by facing the bad. Anyways just my thoughts. By the way did you come to a conclusion on why you felt so out of it that day? Do you feel better now? I hope all is well, take care.

Its a good question. I met this psychic guy in a store one day and he said he could see purple on my head quite clearly and asked if I was psychic, to which I applied.."not particularly, but working on it".. he said that my brow chakra was too open and that I need protection.

The strange thing was that he said I should get a horn, and I was like ok sure.. A couple weeks before I was thinking how I wanted a piece of quartz to experiment with, 2 weeks later my mom came back from vacation with a quartz necklace and drinking horn, it was like an ox horn.. it was sitting on my wall for a couple months before I made the connection..

I often wonder if that horn is doing anything in my room, i know this though.. my room is very peaceful to me, but then again, it is mine.

I'm not sure about closing chakras, actually i tell myself "only love comes in and only loves comes out, negative energy cannot enter, and all energy will leave me and go to the earth"... I pretty much convince myself that all I feel is love, and that if I'm happy, I must still have energy... I've been messing with lots of different techniques i'll tell you, because since i started meditating I either became..or realised I was highly empathic and sensitive to other people's energies.. i could feel the drains, usually on the sacral or heart if they came near me, very rare is someones field pleasant, when it is I send them a big smile of energy.. I even recalled an "energy vampire" trying to drain me one night, I could feel heat in my heart area of my back. It was kind of freaky at first but I was like whatever man.. i don't want this or need this, this can't affect me, i invisioned myself protected / encircled by a white sphere and I pretty much said "spirit guide, can you keep an eye while I try to sleep" I was pretty confident and sure enough I had a good sleep.

I just think back to that Biology of Perception by Bruce Lipton on Youtube, I prefer to keep my chakras open and in fact.. i am not like holdin this energy back because that seems to indicate fear which is counter-active to energy work and evolution.. as I walk down the street I convice myself I have unlimited energy and send it to all the people around me.. if I have to sit next to someone who needs it, i will send it the chakra where I feel its draining me, and its usually accompanied by like a warm, peaceful type of hugging feeling after 10 minutes or so. I figure my energy is there to heal, i shouldnt hold it back, but I should be confident that it can't be affected. As I believe our chakras and our bodies are reflections or expressions of self and thus highly subjective to our perception.

I feel as thought if we think we are fine, we are.. I believe energy is there to share and heal. I'm not worried about it anymore, I just make sure to adjust my mindset, like if I feel tired i say " i'm not tired, i have energy"..I tell myself.. don't become drained from your surroudings, get your energy together then give back the energy under a more controlled condition so you can make sure it doesn't screw you up.

Some people can really affect your chakras deeply though, negatively and positively, i can barely handle being on the bus now because I feel the drain all around me but like I was saying, I think it changed alot when I changed my perspective, not to really close my chakras, but to tell myself for them to always be balanced, to be just right and to always shine

Man this is goin on too long, I wanted to say.. don't over-work them though.. its like, your chakras are like muscle, they have a certain level of functionality, don't push em too hard, but if you expand them, like a muscle, you get more output. So don't make them over-active, just keep them balanced, but let them grow.. perhaps just like a muscle, you would have to over-work them now and then to make them grow. I'll let you figure that one out!

I wouldn't worry, be sure that your fine, that you can't be negatively affected, that your energy is infinite, and if it gets drained, at least its to heal people.

OP...

I'm not sure what you mean that open chakras could be the bad thing... I thought that was the whole point?

Hoever I have heard a lot of talk about some people leaving a sort of spiritual portal into other dimensions open too long or indefinitely... therby inviting negative influence.

Is that what you were talking about?

A nod to you Caveman. I feel the same way as you when it comes to the energies and dealings with. We often lable negative energies as just that bad energy, this is in many cases because the energies are not in line with those we align to as individuals. Often people who drain your energy are thought of as bad or negative because they leave you feeling drained. I know many of these types of people myself and I can't honestly say that not any one of them is a bad person. The draining is not, in most all cases, done consciously, which leads me to look into the other possibilities for it. It is possible something in a persons past damaged their system, people do "leak" energy, and when they lose their energy they need to replenish so usually subconsciously they drain others from other sources. Now there are many other possibilities but I wanted to use this as an example.
Then you have other people who generate more energy, like yourself from the sounds of it. It would be very easy for you to be protective of your energy as many seem to be and try to shield themselves from the bad. But like you I believe that those of us that have that energy to give should give it where needed. When I feel or know someone is draining me I try to give them as much energy as they can take. Some of us are batteries and some of us need a charge, just part of the greater circle of life. I do have a question I would like to ask of you Caveman. Do you have any special ways of delivering the energy. Now what I mean by this is when we offer our energies to others weather our intentions are good or not they can be viewed subconscioulsy as an attack and a persons natural defences can take over. I am not saying we should be fearful of this and not give out the energy but that if we feel the need to give the energy in the first place there is probably a need there for it, which means that person needs what help we are trying to give them. So what I was wondering is do you take this into account and if so what are your means of dealing with them, if you care to share of course. Ok take care all.
