I just signed also.

In a truly free society, we have the option to turn the radio/TV off!! if we don't like what is being broadcasted. Parents should be resposible for their children, not the Feds.

Hey elevatedone, great job on finding this... you're getting my last vote for this month... *sigh*

let's hope that this petition stops the monster that is out of control here. the FCC was a fascist organization before the more recent events, and this policeware business is just amazingly authoritarian. BLOODY FASCISTS!!!!

I wonder how many signatures will it take to put a stop to this terror machine of media?

PLEASE mods consider my request to allow for more than 3 votes a month. Please?

I think it's going to take more than signatures to get this done, however, I'm not giving up, me and a guy I work with are "brainstorming" trying to come up with some other ideas to help this fight. I'll let you all know.. when and if it happens.

Cool

So do you live in an area where you can tune in to "Howard" everyday and if so, do you ?

I only get to listen 2-3 times per month and usually on Friday's while I'm traveling on company business. The few times I've listened, he's been fairly quiet about the FCC and President Bush's "agenda" against him.

Nope, no Howard Stern on any of the stations I can pick up in my area.

In all honesty, I wouldn't listen to him even if I did recieve stations that aired his shows, but I still think the FCC needs to lessen some of their restrictions.

Not all mind you, there should be some regulations, otherwise we're going to have full blown porn showing up on every channel 24/7. (Ok, over exaggerating there, but you get my point.)

Here in Toledo, we have a DJ who drinks on the air all the time... he "road trips" it to area bars and drinks up while on the air.

Is he breaking the law ?

Doubtful. Anyone drinking on-air (like at a remote) isn't technically running the board.

It's rarely enforced anyway, but it's still a law.

I don't know if this is still good or not... but after listening to Howard Stern today... I wish we could just do away with the FCC.

Apparently, now anything that Howard does, says or his guests or call in guests say just might get him fired.

In an agreement made between the FCC and Viacom ( owns the stern show )... Howard could be suspended or fired for the content of his show.

Not the radio station that lets it out, not the person sitting on the "sensor" button... no one but Howard.

I can't remember all the details... he was really upset about it today and I didn't get to hear all of it.

If you're interested , I suggest you visit his site

howardstern.com

You can read all about it there, as I don't want to report things here that are not true.

We need to fight this... even though Stern is going to satelite radio, there will be others that the FCC go after when he's gone.. enough is enough.

People with children should only be sold tv's that can access pg13 programming. Everybody else should have tv's that get the good hardcore stuff.
Parents are not responsible enough to raise their kids. It takes a village you know.......or at least an oppressive government agency. The FCC is only concerned about perpetuating their cushy govenment jobs so they can continue to be paid to bully people who are smarter than they are. LET'S SIGN UP AND GIVE THEM THEIR WALKING PAPERS.

Thought you guys and gals might be interested in this.

www.mediaweek.com...

Excluding the whole JJ fiasco during the superbowl, 99.9% of the complaints the FCC got was from one group. The complaints went from 350 in one year, to over 250,000. Most of which came from the Parents Television Council, aka, the PTC.

There's another group we should be more worried about than the FCC.

www.parentstv.org...

Far, far worse than the FCC, and if they have their way, we'll have far more restrictions than we do now.

I just signed It!!!!! as far as i'm concerned , censoring television is the same as censoring books. while a child might get ideas from either books, television, or radio. but it is the parents repsonsibility to teach their child morals. The only way censoring television and radio works is if your letting them raise your kids! if you can't communicate with your children , it's because it's not on your priorities. Anyway Great thread i'm glad i read it!
