Hey. Just wanted to make a public apology for my outburst on page 1 & 2. My apologies to the O.P. That one particular post was very upsetting to me for personal reasons but I still had no right to react the way I did. I'm sorry. Moving along.

No problem.

I should have put more disclaimers in the OP and clarified a little better.

Jesus doesn't say "all" Christians will be persecuted. He said "many" will be persecuted.

Many have been, look at the inquisitions.

Well many human beings in general have been persecuted, regardless of their beliefs. I'm saying that people willingly put a coat of preparedness on when they believe they will be persecuted JUST for being for being who or what they are. This can go for a lot of things, like race, sexual preference, gender, etc. When you put on this coat of persecution,
people tend to persecute you.
It's in our human nature to walk on those who lay down like rugs.

It depends on what you mean by persecution.
It also depends on what part of the world you're talking about.
I can only speak about America when I say that Christians are not persecuted as much as most other groups.
In fact, Christianity seems to be a magic word here.
Along with faith.
And for a Christian in America to say they are being persecuted to me sounds ridiculous. Christian's are NOT the minority here.
If you could say anyone is being persecuted, it would be atheists. Many times I've seen a Christian telling an atheist he/she is going to Hell and, if I'm not mistaken, enjoy it. Atheists by and large are looked down at by most Christians as heathens. Everyone is persecuted at some point in their life about their beliefs or worse - the things they can't control.
But I'd say we're a pretty weak society if we can't accept alternative opinions challenging our own.
This isn't Iraq... no one is getting stoned or getting their hand chopped off.

I absolutely agree with you.

I just watched a documentary about Canadian Natives who were TRULY "persecuted" by the United Church, a "christian" group, barely 30 years ago. Like the "demons" from German consentration camps were halted from their slaughter so they moved over the globe to satisfy their bloodlust. Funny, because the church knew they'd have to pay, to save their asses and bring new generations back to them. But to make sure they didn't have to pay TOO much, they sterilized the "purebloods" of the victims involved.

So Christians who live in other Countrys it is just their imagination they are being killed for believing in Christ ?
Same with those of the Islamic religion etc ....
If that is the case as you say ..
Then Homosexuals and nonbelievers in Christ (athiests etc) who claim to be persecuted for their beliefs it is just their imaginations too ..because they just think they are being persecuted ...because society says they will be .....so they are right ?

Come on Marie ...surely you can see this is BUNK ..I know you can come up with something better than that ..

It's hard to even answer you, Simply, because you don't pay attention to every detail of what is written, you only graze over posts, find and disagree with someone who you deem a "nonbeliever", and post your comment based on that incomplete assessment.

Had you read the entire thread and understood it(that takes an open mind), you'd see I DID recognize christians, as well as EVERY human being of EVERY belief or nonbelief, who has been murdered by bloodlusting other human beings.

I'd like to add that - yes, all types of people have been persecuted.
Even animales have been
.
Think about all those poor little ants while the children stand gleefully by with a magnifying glass and a menacing look in their eyes.
But you don't see ants pushing this fact in our faces.
Be like an ant my friend.
What purpose does it serve to point at all those in your specific belief system that were persecuted in times passed?
Do you think it gives you 'street cred'?
Yes we should look at human history and LEARN that ALL people should not be persecuted for their beliefs, color of their skin, or even bad hair days.
It just seems to me that some people *COUGH* Christians *COUGH* are using it as a kind of wedge against non-believers, and that's what I don't think should happen.

Dear TRuth ...I dont believe I have ever said at any time that I have personally been persecuted for my beliefs ...Have I ?

I have been persecuted because I had pimples all over my face in school ..
I have been persecuted for looking like a hippie ..I have been persecuted and beaten for no reasons by two husbands ..I have been persecuted for having warts all over my hands ...but I can honestly say I have not yet been persecuted for just being a Christian ..But OTHERS HAVE >>>and I can say because I have been persecuted for other things ..THAT WERE NOT IN MY HEAD or just my IMAGINATION that it happened to me ...so I will not agree that Christians are persecuted because they are over imaginative or whatever ...
Neither should you .

Cases vary, Simply, you're a big girl, you should know this.
And no one is saying any of your testimony is "in your head".

TP, that's the point of the topic, because there are actually people who do actually claim persecution JUST for being a Christian, right here in America. If you read ALL of my posts, you'd see some examples of my own given. Others have also given accounts in this thread. So it does happen.

Not that I'm aware of.
I never said 'all Christians'.

Now you're just putting words in my mouth.
I never said that nor do I believe that.
I'm just saying that some Christians think they are being persecuted and are 'suffering for the lord' when they just are not. And they use this feeling of persecution to validify their beliefs.
I'm not saying all or even most Christians do this, just that I have seen it.
And that also it's a bit of a stretch to claim such persecution in America, as a majority consider themselves Christian.
Others claim persecution because of actual events that happen to their 'forefathers' or other believers.
I just don't see why this matters just as I don't get why some black people today will sue white people for what their ancestors did to their ancestors.
Yes all types of people have been persecuted, but we shouldn't 'use' that to our advantage... It's just a sad fact of life.

My neighbors dogs believe they are being persecuted for being locked up in their back yard too ...(and they probobaly are ..seems like they are in jail being back there all of the time) ...

Why is this even being talked about ? We know LOTS OF PEOPLE can say they are being this that or the other ...that does not make it true ..
To that we can agree ok ...........
