We as a nation can't even pull it together enough to not put in gas for a day, even though it would be for the most part possible to work around a day to avoid the pump. But we can't even manage that much standing together. We are in a cesspool grasping for a life preserver!

I'm sorry you feel that way. It sounds like you have basically have given up hope. Mankind needs hope. It can get us through the darkest of nights. I still believe in the basic good nature of humanity. We need to work together to overcome the forces that would deny us our hope. Giving up is what the despots hope we do. I for one, will not.

that was not how i interpreted her post. what i took from it was "be real"
it sounds great to say all that about the constitution, but what is it really doing for the cause to say "well, we had a good plan, sorry they messed it up for you, but we will not accept responsibility, it was their fault, so solly cholly" instead we should say "hey son, i feel really bad that our g'ment screwed us so bad that day in october, but truth is, i was the one who had my legs spread to begin with. they expected a F#$%, and that's what they got, i shoulda had my legs crossed." so instead of passive inaction we should be doing REAL things to try and fire back. i have always found the best way to stop an attack is to fire back, we COULD all not buy gas for a day, it would be huge, but we have no voices to get it rolling because we are all so damn smart we don't want to listen and bend to someone elses idea. well, i am not a no-load easy screw waiting for the next g'ment greedhead any longer, starting right now, at this moment i will do something EVERY SINGLE DAY to try to counter this, i'm not talkking anything criminal, and i alone may not make a difference, but if we all did small things they would have to listen. todays project is to write my congressmen here in alabama, tomorrow, i'll write another, and so on. every day i will do something and i will post it in the comments section of my profile what i have done that day to try and make this a better country to give my boy when he is grown. I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO PUT DIFFERENCES ASIDE AND HELP ME GET A DOMINO EFFECT GOING! check my personal info 2morro, it will contain a copy of the letter i will compose tonight, check my comments every time u log onto ATS from this point on, this forum has so much potential! i don't care if we see eye to eye on ANYTHING except the fact that we must start working for something better. this is enigma publius, i am the voice of all u who are downtrodden and beaten! communication is input and feedback, it sets us apart, and is the one and only thing that can bring us together. read my comments for each days project, and do your own homework, then post it in my comments, give me ideas for future things i can do...WE WILL HELP EACHOTHER SUCCEED!

This is what I have been saying all along. We have to stay on top of what our representatives are doing. We can't just vote them in and then just hope that they vote in our best interests. Its like parenting; you tell them the right thing to do, let them know the consequences of their choices, watch what they do, and then follow through with the consequences. I think this is how the government has gotten out of control. Too many people vote their reps into office and then never give them another thought.

My representative voted NAY. His consequences are a huge thank you and my vote for him in the next election.

Just remember that mindset is a choice, not a prerequisit.

Granted the psychological war is effective but some are able to think outside the programming and stand up to the day we choose to incarnate ourselves into to participate in.

To be a bystander is to be a quitter. I didn't come here to quit, nor do I underestimate the "other" By the same token I hope the "other" has underestimated the Meek.

lol, That's why I said "Average." Your Honda driving 9-5 schmoe that feels hopeless with life as well their govt. The state of mind my wife and I share? We have each other, we dont live outside our means, and we are not as stupid as America wants people our age to be
I'm still so befuddled about this situation. It's F'n depressing.

Great clip... who is that guy?

Politicians are in a bit of a predicament right now. They're been pulled from two sides, the government on one side and the people on the other.

Sad thing is, the government should be the people, but clearly it is not. Many of us have known this for some time now, but we kept hoping... hoping that the pendulum would swing back in our favor... hoping that our elected officials would hear us, but they didn't and that hope is gone. No longer do they even pretend to represent us, and it is now so blatant that no amount of media spin can keep it a secret anymore.

If we revolt, sure we may perish or get locked up. But if we don't? We'll slowly fade into poverty and despair. At least with the first option, there's a chance of success. Option #2 just leaves a little extra time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life until they've all been taken from us. You think they're gonna stop here? This is just the beginning.

I have a few things to lose, but it doesn't matter because the future is already lost unless we do something now. What can we do? Stick it to em where it hurts. Cut off their lifeline, money. Stop paying taxes and see how they like that. Sure there will be a few martyrs. I'll gladly be one for the sake of freedom. Invest in solar, wind, and hydrogen technology, do anything you can to remove your dependence on this broken system... a system which now is only used for control. They've had their reign, their time is coming to an end. Forget about party lines and unite. Don't let them divide and conquer. Direct your anger to the disease, not the symptoms.

So refusing to pay taxes..... well, Ya realize this will put you in jail right? They will also garnish your wages if you dont pay taxes. Uncle Sugar will track your ass down. So all of you that are planning on sticking it to the man and not paying your taxes... well, I hope you dont have kids or any other dependants. Not siding with the "man," here, just playing devils advocate. Seriously, can you honestly just decide " i'm not going to pay taxes, yay!" and get away with it?

I dare them to try and take away my sovereignty. You think I haven't thought this through? I've seen this coming for the past 15 years. I knew the time would come. Stand up to oppression or become a slave. Hell we already are slaves to some extent, although unwillingly. For me, the tipping point has come with the passing of this bill.

There is indeed a bright future for us, but it must be fought for if we are to see it. We've let politicians take responsibility for us, but now it's time to take responsibility for ourselves.

Why feel dumb when you drive on the freeway and can turn to police and utilize other tax-funded resources when necessary ? Who's supposed to pay for all the things people take for granted ? Would you genuinely choose not to pay tax and instead live and subject your children to a Mad Max environment ?

They did it, and at this point there's not a friggin thing we can do about it to prevent its enactment. I invite you all to read an essay I wrote earlier this week. It is more relevant now than ever. Feel free to distribute it through email and to any other forums. All I ask in return is that it not be changed and credit given. Nothing would make me happier than to get this in an email as a Fw:.

Addendum: The Straw and the Camel's Back

Yes. They did it. They ignored us. They stood in front of a camera and told us that they know better than we and will do as they please. They have made a choice for us, America. They have chosen a hyperinflationary crash rather than a deflationary depression. Why have they done this? The answer is simple.

So that they can maintain their slim grasp on power just a while longer. Truly, they are fiddling while America burns. Just like December 7, 1941 and September 11, 2001, October 3, 2008 is a day that will live in infamy. It is the day in which we lost liberty. This day I will never forget, and I will not forgive those responsible for the atrocity which took place.

It is the day in which I lost faith in my government.

Despite letters from hundreds of economists and millions of concerned constitutents, begging them to reconsider this grand larceny of our dollars, those treasonous snakes have chosen to serve their true masters, the elite. They have told us exactly how they feel about us. They view us to be unworthy. On October 3, 2008, we ceased to be citizens and became subjects.

Rather than put aside petty differences and vote pandering, they loaded up what they called "an emergency intervention" with pork and jammed it so far down our throats that we scarcely had time to taste the pig's feet before they voted.

I watched the latter half of the final House debate. The only opposition to the bill that I saw was Ron Paul. After he spoke, no dissenting voice was allowed to be heard. I gaped, slack-jawed with disgust as Barney Frank was acknowledged to speak no fewer than nine times in 30 minutes. This slime in turn yielded his minutes to his fellow supporters, chewing up the remaining time so that no opposition could be allowed to influence the vote.

How is this allowed? After a similar bill failed in the House just four days past, these traitors merely handed the ball off to their co-conspirators in the Senate. They, in turn, removed little, added a lot, and rubber stamped the bill to be force fed to America.

The time has come. They are no longer "our" government. It is time to deal with these domestic enemies with your votes and with your wallets. Lyndon LaRouche recently posted a video on YouTube, begging that those in power not pass this bill because, as he states, "Don't make the American people angry. They'll kill you." I seem to remember something similar being said by a certain Japanese admiral.

"I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve." - Isoroku Yamamoto

Guess what, Washington D.C. You have awakened a sleeping giant, and given us resolve. Do not destroy America to save a select few. We have begged. We have pleaded. Now we are demanding.

Becase my 'supposed federal tax dollars' are not going to fund the freeway. That is what the states job is and I am sure that is a completely different section of tax that I haven't even gotten to yet. Our supposed federal dollars are going to line the pockets of greedy politicians and refunds to people who import rum. I don't drink rum. We have fed the machine and now the machine has turned on us. It has gotten so out of control that you think you can't live without it. It's time to shut down the machine and stop feeding the frenzy.

I think you'd find your life would be negatively affected, were your federal taxes to cease. States would have to take up the slack and the resources you take for granted now would cease, lessen and fall into disrepair.

Refusing to pay taxes would, in the long term, be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

The reality is, accountability begins at grass roots. And maybe this lesson will be learned as consequence of this foul bailout .. maybe not. As a rule, people scream for a while, then it all becomes 'too much trouble' and life continues as usual.

But, for those for whom this abomination has been a sorely needed wake-up call, local and State politics will become much more of a priority. They may begin taking the time out of other pursuits to actually consider their vote, for example .. that's for those who bother to vote. Because it's like the old saw: ' Take care of the pennies and the dollars will take care of themselves'. From now on, they'll take a greater interest in local politics and will vote responsibly. Because only when they do, will they be able to exert some control over Congress.

Deciding not to pay taxes will be counter-productive. People talk about what they'll do, but that's as far as it goes in the vast majority of cases .. talk. People are concerned about their own survival. And most are not prepared to engage in the life-consuming exercise .. or penalties ... involved in literally refusing to pay tax. And the PTB are fully aware of this. The deck is stacked in the authorities' favour.

No, the deed is done. They got away with this.

What people have to decide is this: are you going to allow them to get away with it again ? Because they will unless people stop them.

They can only do so however, if you let them. And whether or not you let them is determined by your vote and how much time and attention you're prepared to spend on issues that can make or break you personally, before casting your vote.

I absolutely want to stop them, but how do you stop them unless you cut off their endless source of funding. I guess my realization is this, if we had never started down this path to begin with then we wouldn't be here now. I don't have a time machine, we can't go back and stop it. They obviously aren't listening to us when we tell them how to spend our tax dollars. If we withhold those tax dollars then they can't spend them. If you quit blowing up the balloon then it doesn't keep getting bigger. How else do you stop it? I am open to suggestions.

Let me amend this. I have been following other threads here where it shows that the banks no longer have to keep any money in reserve because of this bailout and are virtually free to create their own. With that being said I guess they don't need me anymore...

No, I think it's Barbara. And 'got rid of Osama Bin Laden'??? Latest intel say's that SOB is living in a villa in Pakistan! If that's your definition of 'got rid of' then I want him to get rid of me! I'd like my villa in Italy please!

Exactly

As I said in a post in this thread several hours ago, ' can't change the past .. but can shape the future '

They're always going to have access to huge monies .. tax-payers' money

Taxpayers can't be there, individually and in person, to ensure those monies are being spent well and responsibly. Which is why you elect politicians to best represent you. Task for the future is for all concerned to do their level best to elect those who WILL best represent you .. and to hold them accountable in as many ways as possible, the moment they show the slightest inclination otherwise. Policitians have to be constantly monitored/scrutinized by the electorate. The time to bring them down is before they join the 'elite untouchables'. Politicians have to be culled like feral pigs or weeds.

Bring them down early. That's the only way to show you mean business. When they suffer -- they learn. If enough are eradicated (and I don't care how it's done, frankly, but then I'm a bit radical) the rest will get the message. Similar to the paedophile priests. They got away with it for years because they were allowed to. When the people had finally had enough and began slamming them in jail, the rest paid the price and will continue to be held accountable and to be scrutinized. Scrutiny, ruthless, unrelenting scrutiny. You can afford no less when it comes to those who hold any kind of power over you and yours.
