Amazing. How such a flawed system ever got out the door of Diebold is beyond belief. Especially the facts that a) they could access the system via a
modem, or that they could gain external access at all, and b) there was not even the most primitive password protection mechanism. Very poor, amateur
design.
It looks like Diebold is not the supplier of choice for these machines.
But I still think - no, I know -that the system can be made foolproof, and very easily at that. Just look at the lottery systems around
today...hundreds of millions of dollars pass through these machines daily. And I would still trust a well designed machine over a human being to
handle my vote any day.
