It's not really a very big deal. It is the first time snow has been observed falling from the sky on Mars. It's kind of cool, but nothing not "Mars
shattering" news. Kind of like the confirmation of water in August. It was known to be there but it had not been "touched".
I don't think that the origin of the ice caps is snowfall. The more likely origin is frost building up during the winter.
