"Russian nuclear stealth bomber"? Well, at least journalists compensate with humor for incompetence when it comes to military topics. Such attempts at public hysteria should not be taken seriously.

Somewhere between RAF inefficiency, budget cuts for the RAF, a LO design for the Blackjack it's very high speed and the basic limitations of radar will you find a answer to that question.

In a nutshell. However I have to disagree and say that the Tu-160 had no real integrated "stealth" design. It was simply not built with that characteristic as a main element.

If you care to do so, and thus reject the notion that the Russians are entirely backwards, you can even throw in 'Plasma Stealth' to help explain...

An incident like this does indeed prove that a Russian is just as capable a human. But not that ambiguous and alleged technology can be proven, well, without proof.

...why these sort of things are now so often happening to NATO partners....

It would seem some "NATO partners" lack the necessary resources to fully deter and stop such incursions; given a specific condition of course.

that particular bomber was actually a 'cruise missile carrier' and the fact that it came within 20 miles of Hull meant that all of the UK was in range of the eighteen or so Cruise Missiles and whatever ordinance those may contain.

Basically, Britannia was defenseless and Russia could have destroyed well over a dozen cities if she wanted to. This was a warning, and a frightening one at that.

This was not a stealth bomber either - which being said solely to excuse the RAF's incompetence.

The bomber completed it's mission by coming within range to deliver a strike to several cities - The Warning was delivered. Now the excuses are flying and accusations are mounting.

I guess Russia is back in the game.

I'm not sure how to read this. Are you saying that Russians are not human? I demand an explanation.

This sounds like propaganda. You just don't release info like this. Chances are, the bomber was watched a whole lot longer than they are claiming. Making a public statement about "we found it within 20 miles..." would only boost Russian morale that they are on the right track for stealth technology, while in reality, they are flying a detectable aircraft.

Star for you.

My thoughts exactly. If the Russians did fly that close, why in the hell would they announce it to the world? The only reason that the RAF would let this info out would be to give Russia a false sense of security. If it really did happen, it would be damn near treasonous to admit it to the world.

I accept that as an adequate apology

On second thought, this was something like a Freudian slip on your part.

(Yes, I'm Russian born).

Or maybe there was no bomber at all and it is the UK media attemtping to influence the people for an upcoming event by their government? Just more Cold War propaganda if you ask me.

My personal "conspiracy" attempt - what if Russian federation attempts to avenge loss in the cold war (due to arms race over-spending) by doing the same to Western powers as they did to USSR?
Example - before Georgian conflict i saw on this site posts with links to articles talking about F-22/Zumwalt destroyer/Air transport lines getting closed or production not going to be approved. Month later - today actually - there is a post talking about another F-22 line opened and Zumwalts are going to be ordered too.
www.abovetopsecret.com...
So maybe as an aftershock some UK's previously "stalled" projects are going to be re-opened or bigger investments are going to flow in.
Western economy is not in the best shape, Russian too but its leader already stated that he chooses "life over sausages" and Russian public probably will be less prone to unrest due to bad economic conditions if cold war kicks in again. After all - Russia is controlled "democracy" so image of outside enemy, totaly controlled media and some national idea (like rebirth of monarchy) can make it less prone to economy crisis.
And Russian black projects are no where to be seen. Most of its military hardware is upgraded 90s technology ex-USSR stuff. 5th generation fighter is promised to be shown for almost a decade. So while West spends huge amounts of money on new military toys that ensure its rather virtual and shaky global domination , Russia invests much smaller figures in its military. Enough to ensure its regional dominance and nuclear mutual destruction doctrine and thats it.
Easily can be wrong on this. But i wonder what you think?

Why are these incursions become ever more prevelant? more to the point, what would Russia do if the UK was infringing their airspace with b52s?

The Tu160 is in no way is as stealthy as the B2A as some have suggested!!

This occurred at the end of last year according to the article.

FAS Guide to the Tu-160: www.fas.org...

Propaganda is everywhere. I'll believe we're at risk when I see one fly over the coast without an RAF escort.

First this Chamberlainesque quote, and then a report that the RAF had exactly 4 aircraft available for alerts, and they were all "busy".

It must be 1939 again.

after selling a camera on e-bay - containing MI6 restricted information , loosing data from million of people etc - i am not surprised they would detect anything. It is a big warning as I believe that the British society is getting dumber and dumber. Most of the MScs and PHD-s are non-UK citisens, so with less chances to work for the govt...

Why do the Russians like pestering the UK with their flybys, they have the whole of Europe close by so why not go bug them? lol

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

I think they'd be wondering what the RAF was doing with B-52's.

The RAF doesn't have any. Never has had.

Star wars detection hasn't hit the UK yet.
They have been bogged down in the 911 aftermath.
We have big enemy Russia and IRAN to deal with now.
And I think the aliens are supplying materials with their
stealth ships. So fast its the loading time thats a factor.
Soon we will have all three to contend with.

Is this the ways of the Illuminati.
Perhaps they are covered by alien insurance.

Why are foreigners funded in education and the citizens not?
Is there some sort of control strategy.

Capital goods have been suppressed for 60 years and just war
materials kept industry going.

Home building can't be the answer, we know that cost us 700B.

The average Briton might privately welcome the idea of falling to Russia.

Could only be an improvement on what Britain has become.

And I imagine the average Britain might feel he/she has a lot more in common with Russians these days than with the foreigners who've been encouraged to flood the UK ... OR with that dolt posing as Prime Minister, the little zionist wannbe, Brown.
