Outrage After FEMA Melts Ice Meant for Hurricane Victims

abcnews.go.com

As victims of Hurricane Ike still await the arrival of disaster relief supplies, FEMA yesterday began melting ice meant for distribution to victims in what is being described as a cost-saving measure.

The move has sparked outrage in the disaster relief community, where ice is considered a necessity when electricity is out for preserving food, medication, feeding formulas and keeping people cool in potentially-dangerous heat. Critics argued the move is irresponsible and indicative of a broken disaster relief system.

This caught m attention pretty fast. So we have all these poeple still without power and FEMA says because it costs too much they are going to melt the ice. WHY NOT GIVE IT OUT TO PEOPLE THAT STILL NEED IT?

Idiots.

This is the government that we are talking about. Evidently, they couldn't find somebody that DOESN'T need it to give it to.

Im no expert, but Im pretty sure ice will melt on its own. FEMA wouldn't have to do anything more than leave it outside.

Seriously. This is nothing a few (say 500) diesel generators and some (500 again) refrigerated shipping containers couldnt fix.

One generator and one container per affected community and presto.. Ice for all, plus the ability to make more.

I should run for president

Is this really suprising? They did the same thing after Katrina. They got rid of tons of ice that had been shipped to the coastal areas.

There are more, just come up with your own.

FEMA is little more than our government's jesture of assistance. State and local emergency services and citizens are far more adept at taking care of themselves without the government carebears coming in to make a mess of things. FEMA should be tasked with only one mission: transportation of the documents that need to be signed for federal funding....thats it. They are not adept at doing anything else.

This is unbelieveable and it's an outrage ! These people need that ice, they have been without electricity for two weeks. How are they supposed to keep food, or formula for their babies, or certain medications without ice !?

They didn't have to dispose of it, they could have just gave it to the town officials to disperse of.

Then they try to justify their actions by saying that it wasn't their responsibility to supply the ice anyway

And that the people had all they needed, for what two days ?

But the biggest outrage of all is that they said they did it because it was cheaper to allow it to melt than to store it for the people
so it's a money issue.

So these people that have just been through a hurricane and are without power are left high and dry without assistance because it costs too much money, while the politicians are preparing to spend $700 billion to bailout wall street

It should be obvious to all by now that FEMA is all about control, not actually helping anyone who needs assistance. In NOLA, they turned back truckloads of water, cut communication lines to keep the truth of what they were doing from getting out, and generally saw to it that as many people as possible perished. There’s a very sad eternity awaiting these scum suckers.

We are just a bunch of 'useless eaters' anyway. Katrina all over again.

Let's face it. We are not high in the social order.

When the next false flag attack occurs. And antsy National Guard are patrolling our streets, we will see just how much of a useless commodity we are.

If you dont ask for the Ice, they wont give it to you.

Don't be a dumbass, ask for the ice. No one is asking for the ice, they expect it delivered to them.

Melt it all.

Bullpucky! Try going thru the shreds of your former home in south Texas heat. You have a cooler with water and some sandwiches. Tell me who doesn't need ice.

That was just asinine.

Don't be a dumb....? Who here is the dumb..... YOU

Why would they need to freeze ice and keep it?
Surely they would have an ice machine?
And could just make it as needed?
Stupid.

This is a racket! And just as it happened in New Orleans, this is how they make money.

Truckloads of ice means tens of thousands of dollars if not hundreds of thousands.

Drawing tax dollars to pay for the ice itself, the transportation, and the man hours.

They are automatically given the money, as their department is to "assist" in national emergencies.

They take said money, load up the trucks, create a bunch of bureaucracy on purpose, take the ice off the trucks, melt the ice, and don't deliver.

That's damn near 100% profit margin.

While American citizens live in squander waiting for the help they've been promised, the Federal Emergency Management Agency makes a killing off tax payers and gives the residents of New Orleans and this time Galveston the good ol' shoulder shrug.
