Ok, folks, I'm a newbie, so don't blast me if I placed this on the wrong board.
I have been concerned about several things:
1. What happens when/if we go to level RED? Our State Homeland Security Advisor basically replied "We don't want to know." Which, of course, causes me to envision martial law or some such crackdown on US citizens "for our safety.
2. Last week we in Central Phoenix were subjected to "urban warfare exercises". We had huge choppers and troop carriers flying in very low over large civilian populations, landing at the park, and then moving on. I thought the whole thing suspicious, but then again, I tend to be suspicious.
I guess my question, that I'm throwing out to you experts is this:
What will happen if and when we go to Code Red?
Will that include declaring martial law and corresponding diminishing of our Constitutional Rights?
And, lastly, do you know if these urban warfare trainings have been practiced recently in other areas?
I'm just a curious person and I can't help but wonder if something's up. I'm also a big time worrier. LOL

This is all part of a new program the DOD has implemented in order to increase the readiness capabilities of police forces and emergency responder units across the country, in the event of another attack.

We did the same things all the time on base, when I was in the military, and it becomes normal over time. Don't worry about it, this is for everyone's benefit. Think about it this way: Would you rather them NOT be training and not be ready and at the top of their game when the # hits the fan? That's what I thought, my point exactly...

Thanks for pointing that out
. It was just a little unnerving to have those big choppers landing in the middle of town for hours on end.
There's enough, in the world, for me to worry about...I won't add that exercise to the list.

Yeah man, don't sweat it. There isn't anything interesting going on. It's just professionals training to excel, that's all.

I'm glad to hear that I do have my usual case of rampant paranoi

Now, that I'm relaxed about the exercises, does anyone know what exactly WOULD happen if the Terror Level Alert were to be moved to red nationwide? I'm just curious....although, I have no idea why I worry over these things

thanks!

Do any of you actually believe we have enough military on active or reserve duty to actually control the entire continental US? I don't.

Actually, if so much as fifteen American cities were in crisis mode at one time, I think our all volunteer military
would be stretched beyond belief.

BTW they do those drills in all cities now...at least once a year since 911. Where I live, it has been standard proceedure all of my adult life since where I come from it's a military city.

Don't worry about it until its real.

LOL. Good point. My boy got some video footage of the procedures in Columbia, SC. Helicopters of all sorts, troop carriers, police, hummers, the works.
