I'm here to tell you of a bright spot...a silver lining if you will, in the current financial turmoil we are facing here in the U.S. and globally perhaps.

Our Federal government with the help of the FED has been able to have a STATE that has been able to pay and enjoy our Guns and Butter i.e. Warfare Welfare. Of course to be able to accomplish to pay for our ability to have our cake and eat it too, we've had to do 2 things, which are either:

1) Tax (direct finance)

or

2) Issue debt (Borrow)

Now the debt that is issued could be purchased by two types of consumers:

a) Private (Banks, Fund Managers, or Millionaires etc)

b) Governments (Our own through the FED, or other Central Banks)

Most of our Debt has been purchased oversees. In other words Banks such as China, have bought our DEBT and we have given them paper and promises to pay them back.

This system can work for time, a limited time only, because Governments have an insatiable appetite to increase spending to appease their constituency (the "do something for ME" population) or interest group (do something for me Corporations) that pressure them to finance whatever it is they want to be finance. In our case, we have had to finance Wars, be they Iraq 1, &, 2, Panama Canal, Granada, Vietnam, and so on...along with these wars we've also wanted to continue and in some cases EXPAND Roosevelt's NEW DEAL programs, we have also continued to create further Bureaucracies which have created new department in the Federal Government. All of this again needs to be finance.

Now, we have reached a critical point, in how we FINANCE our government. We are still hearing from both CAMPS, Obama and Mcain that they don't see a need to cut either any programs here at home or abroad. On top of this we have massive BAIL-OUTS that the governments want to pass-on to you and I to pay for.

The question below is geared to YOU OBAMA SUPPORTERS AND MCAIN SUPPORTERS:

This leads me to ask: Do you honestly think OBAMA OR MCAIN will raise our taxes to pay for this bail-out, our foreign Bases, and our welfare STATE?

I guarantee you that neither man cannot, becuase we are currently facing a deep recession of which we have yet to see the bottom. Who wants to raise taxes on people losing their jobs, having to pay higher money for groceries, and shelter while at the same time losing money in their 401ks and the value of their home dropping.

Our GDP was $13.8 trillion in 2007, as of June 2008, the gross U.S. external debt was over $13 trillion.

You made some good points, but I have another theory.

They created the problem because they have an agenda, which is to create a new currency.

The Amero.

The long term goal is to get North America (Canada, America, Mexico) under a new currency.

How?

By crashing the American dollar long enough the people will beg for a new monetary system.

They create the problem, people beg for them to fix the problem, they give the people what the want and change policies, they fix the problem they created to push their agenda.

They want the oil in the middle east.

They create a catastrophic event (911) The people demand we go to war, then they get to invade the middle east and control the oil.

They create chaos and disasters to get rich and we are left killing each others while they get rich.

Why do we have a world bank?

Wake up people, this crash has been planned out for at least a decade or longer.

Do you know who owns the Federal Reserve? (Private Company)

Do you know about the North American Union Treaty that was passed by Bush in 2005?

Do you know how profitable War is?

War on Terror will be like the war on drugs, it will never end.

Educate yourself and others and take back your power.

You could be right, its very possible that we maybe moving towards another currency.

Check this bit of news out. It appears China is now clamoring for a new world currency:

UPDATE 1-China paper urges new currency order after "tsunami"

BEIJING, Sept 17 (Reuters) - Threatened by a "financial tsunami," the world must consider building a financial order no longer dependent on the United States, a leading Chinese state newspaper said on Wednesday. The commentary in the overseas edition of the People's Daily said the collapse of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc "may augur an even larger impending global 'financial tsunami'."

Central bankers are a pretty tight group, I'd say it's naive to think they haven't realized this from the outset (when the US Fed was created or when their central banks were created) or known since they got into the club. I believe the same is true of the megabanks and investors who buy up our debt. The question is will central banks, megabanks, and investors in other nations' see the light, or will governments/populations intervene, and stop loaning to us/stop buying debt from us and/or call in their loans. I think the only things preventing this are greed (interest on all that debt they're covering) and co-conspiracy (the key players KNOW it's a house of cards, they're in on it together, and it's still profitable).

If you happen to believe that there is an international banking conspiracy, it makes a lot more sense that the U.S. is still technically solvent
.

Anyways, I think the empire is over but for very different reasons. The time to stop our insane imperial militarism has long since passed. The time to rein in the budget came and went many times and they're still calling fiscal conservatives nuts. The party is over because the host is pulling the plug. The international bankers have just about bled us dry but had it arranged that no one would take notice until it was almost over. I'm not saying martial law is coming, the sky is falling, grab your guns. I'm saying America's age of excess seems to be rapidly ending.

Then again who knows... we've been falsely reassured so many times, people have bought the story hook, line, and sinker for so long, who's to say they won't be duped again and we won't be having this discussion again a few years the road
.

The amero thing is possible, but it's laughable to believe the US is going to war for oil people claim. The US happens to have the biggest reserves in the world, but they chose to out source the oil for a reason. There is no such thing is peak oil. JUst ask Linsey Williams.

It gives me a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach because, from what I've learned up to this, it rings true.

Trotsky's "Permanent Revolution", combined with Fabianism's gradual Socialism tactics, may be what does us in...

New currency with mexico in it, how's this going to be beneficial for the US, I'm not sure?

Try as they might, the de facto world currency will always be controlled by US.

I agree with EtSolveMundi mostly.

Good stuff gateway. I feel you gave me a clear picture of what is going on and not speculation of a small piece of the pie.

But I have to disagree with your attitude, it's almost as if YOU DON't want to have global economic meltdown, with huge unemployed populations, oil dependency, civil wars, new currencies, more natural disasters, and flu pandemics.

Where is your wild side?

'___'eed,

Things are looking pretty hairy here on earth, I may have to buy a 1 way ticket on your space cruiser out of this crappy planet. I just hope my worthless currency will be able to buy the ticket. If worse comes to worst, I may have to show up with a barrel of cash to buy it.

I have sold most of my tickets, this depression thing is good for sales.
I believe there is room above the right landing wheel well. Its big enough for one large child or a small adult.

I have seen this happen to similar "civilization Type 0" planets. And you won't believe how this all ends, I won't ruin the ending. On the cruiser we ran a Sirian movie on it called "Jenkba Shir". Which translates into "8 Billion Casualties".

Good post Gateway. You are 100% correct. Our empire will end the same way the Soviet Empire ended with us pull all of our troops home from all over the world in a disgraceful manor. So all of those hard headed Republicans who think that all of this money being spent because we "need" this empire will get a rude awakening when the troops start coming home in mass from Europe and Asia and bases being shut down. The empire business is not cheap and as we know in history never works all empires fail eventually just some longer than others. America's only lasted 50 years though. Ron Paul really was our last hope.

While leaving the problems of today aside, i have a couple of questions, maybe someone can help point towards an answer or two.

These things have been discussed on ATS many times, well some of them anyhow.

1 does anyone think the reports of interment camps around the USA have anything to do with what is about to happen?

My answer is, if it does all turn out to be part of a long term agenda, then my thoughts go with you.

2 The wording of the Bill being studied, does it also include powers for Federal Agents to deal with debt other than Mortgages? if so in the USA are the likes of credit card debts a civil or criminal matter? and what powers will these Agencies have to arrest people?

3 Again if this is part of a bigger agenda, what if any are the plans for the rest of the World? the World stood by once and allowed Nazi's to take control of not only their own, but several others, before steps where taken to stop them, WW11, will the rest of the World take steps to stop it happening again? and what would you want your military overseas to do? would they fight for Government, or their own families?

4 The World will know soon if this is the start of a rise to power of the Evil of Fascists, what will the American people be wanting the rest of the World to do to help them if anything? what do the American people wish their military to do, if it does turn for the worst?

So many different views, so many screaming for it to be stopped now before the bill passes, seeming like very few for it, why is it even being considered, when there are warnings coming from people in the know?
