I got my usual Universe Today email and in it states that due to a Helium leak the LHC will be delayed by 2 months before assuming normal operations...this is not good news, I was really looking forward to hearing soon about the discoveries made with the LHC, just goes to show you the more complicated the machine the more that can go wrong with it. Heres my link to the article.

When it comes to safety, I say.. take all the time you need. No rush on this, better safe than sorry.

i agree with you. i'm looking forward to the discoveries that the LHC will bring, just to think of all the data collected in the first 24 hours is mind-bottling(yes i said mind bottling....;D) but they have to put safety first, and that may entail mopre of these delays; they (the workers at the LHC) know they have a potentially dangerous machine and they do not wish to jeopardize the lives of anyone, they will take every precaution necessary to make sure things go well i think. i have faith that this project will be a rousing success, and all the doomsday theoriesd will evaporate within a year or two.
