The reason I am starting this thread is because I would like to get a feel for what state of emergency if any we should be in. Also to asses my preparedness level and contingency action plans.

There are several authentic reasons that set off red flags of concern to be in a heightened state of readiness.

I do not hold much stock in Department of Homeland Security, but they do have the basic info available for developing some Emergency survival preparedness.

I can't answer your thread question/title, I don't quite understand the question in it's context of the rest of your post, I will reply to what I think you where asking.
Anything that de-throwns what you perceive as normal, is an emergency in your personal case. For instance, if my health was impaired, I would consider that an emergency and am prepared the best I can reasonably be with health insurance.

Let me ask you what your idea of martial law is. What powers do you think they will have?

Will they patrol the city proper and the urban areas? Will they search our homes if we are not causing any trouble or leave us alone?

I have my ideas about this situation and want to hear yours. We might then be able to discuss the issues.

Awaiting your reply.

I understood squid4life to be speaking of a general case of national emergency and not that of a personal issue.

Where it becomes personal is what he must do to be prepared to survive and remain unscathed until martial law is no longer necessary.

Do correct me if I misunderstood.

He does bring up a good topic for discussion.

What accessories, I only see the girl

Oh hang on I think I see guns and stuff

I have been asking myself certain questions about the what-if scenario and I am sure in saying that I would be stuffed in my present location. I would want to be in the wilds with my family but fear that if we were found we would somehow be breaking some terrorist law and thus would be shot on sight. We don't have the wilderness you guys have, I can pretty much vanish on my own but its my family, I couldn't leave them of course which would leave me with the only option, Surrender and don't put up any sort of fight which goes against my personal feelings but my family comes first.

Well, The National Threat Advisory level is still at YELLOW "Significant risk of terrorist attacks", and it has been for quite awhile.......

Act accordingly.

Stefon0,
You are correct in your statement about our nation’s elevated security level, but I personally would not put much stock in the Homeland Security Advisory System. I am ex-military and I can remember several occasions when the threat was elevated according to Homeland Security, but for us? Well let's just say we were at a relaxed state.
From the military side I will tell you, it is quite a huge epiphany. When I first saw the media’s spin on things and big government’s hype; I must say, at first I thought it was cool that we knew the truth and the civilian community had no clue. Now that I am a civilian I can see the disinformation clearly. I must tell you it is very disturbing to say the least. I do not know where this country is headed but the state of the nation presently does not look good to this sqid4life at all.

Thank's

Guys, do you have any advise what to do in the case of that Martian Law for the lower-lower middle class people like myself? I can't afford body guard like that.

Thanks.
