Hi there Woody, glad I found this thread as I was just about to post something similar, though not referring to the same incident.
I also live on the edge of the NY Moors.
On Thursday (04.12.2008) I was out in the car travelling towards Whitby from Teesside and I could see 2 bright lights in the sky to the South. Now
this view was slightly obstructed by the hilly landscape so I didnt see much of them and thought nothing of them.
It wasnt until I got past Whitby and into Sleights that I again noticed the 2 lights, appearing to be in the same part of the sky. Now thinking that I
had seen something out of the ordinary I kept track of these objects, eventually losing them when I had got to Kirby Moorside, when the lights
appeared to disappear Southwards.
As for the appearance of these lights, they appeared as very white lights, one significantly brighter than the ohter.
I can put my hand on my heart and say it was no plane, definately not stars as I was physically travelling around them as they appeared to be in the
same part of the sky, the only other explanation I had was a helicopter but I doubted this as they seemed the same distance and relationship to each
other for well over an hour.
There is one more thing worth mentioning though, about halfway through this 'event' a plane (presumably a Jet, however, it was dark so hard to tell
- just working on speed) entered into the proximity of these objects and almost immediately flew off and I never saw it again.
I know the area I was driving was right past the RAF Fylingdales base, so a training excercise could be an explaination but I really feel asthough it
was something else.
