heres the basic idea, just tell me what you think. jsut 500 or so years ago just about everybody on the planet beleived that the earth is flat and that god created man and that ancient civilisations existed and that the heaven and hell existed above and below us. then the scientific revolution came along and destroyed all this by taking the earth out of the centre of the universe and introducing evolutionary theory.

my idea is that this whole scientific revolution is just a huge lie designed by the powers in charge to drive people into ignorance whilst pursuading them that they are advancing. now if you talk about aliens people think your crazy and that is exactly what they want because they want to remain hidden so that they can manipulate us.

its the biggest lie ever

tell me what you think

No, that's religeon you are describing.

Science is an ongoing concern bettering itself with every day. Without science we would still be bowing down and worshiping fire!

Scientific advancement is necessary and arises our of humanities need to survive and propagate. A simple but effective example is agriculture. If it wasn't for scientific advancement, there would be struggling to find food to eat. Second.. if you have no electricity, you would be burning candles and sitting by the fire.. automobiles... you would be hitching up the horse and buggy.. computers... you would not be conveying your thoughts.

Scientific advancement is for the better of mankind, and thats no lie.

And because the scientific revolution is a 'lie', then your saying the Earth really IS flat after all?
Sorry, my membership to the Flat Earth Society expired about a week before I was born.

Watchandlearn has it right. It's religion that is the lie. Science is based in fact. Don't get me wrong, I am not denying the existance of God. I am only suggesting that religion is a corrupt institution. Emperical science is the closest thing we have to show us the truth of our universe. We can for the most part rely on the evidence we find there. Much more than from a book that has been rewritten so many times by men wanting to control the masses behaviour. I don't believe that evolution explains everything about living development but it is occuring and it is real.

The above posts are correct, its religion thats wrong, not science. Ive often said, "All we need is science and technology." We have so many other unnecessary things going on in our lives for pleasure, or religion for 'understanding'. We dont need any of that. Dont get me wrong, I love watching movies and eating out at applebees, its just not necessary. And for the record, there are still people out there that think the world is flat.

About 400 years ago most sailors already knew the world was round including columbus. The common people and everyone else were the flat earthers

Of course, to be a sailor in those days (or at least, a navigator) one had to have a solid grasp of mathematics, astronomy, and meteorology. It wouldn't be hard at all to notice that a curved route is the shortest way to travel to a destination overseas. Simple geometry tells us this means the travel is occurring on a convex surface.

Of course, one did not need to know Math and astronomy and meteorology to scoop crap off the streets to sell to the tanneries back then. Just like nowadays one does not need to know about biology, geology, or ecology to scrape burger patties off a griddle and sell them to fat people.

Thus the circle of ignorance continues

Gee, you know? I think he's right!

Wake up everyone! We haven't advanced at all. We've regressed from defecating in the gutter to the primitive methods of indoor plumbing.

The lights we use today are far, far less efficient and far, far less technologically advanced that the torches the PTB took from our trusting forefathers of the 15th century!

Turn off your barbaric air conditioners. It's far more advanced to sit in the dark and sweat your arse off!

Listen up, people of Earth! Do NOT go to your doctor! A visit to your barber for a little unanesthetized surgery will surely do you well! And if that's not enough, old Mother Greentooth will be glad to bleed you for an hour with her leeches. Surely you'll be fine after that!

now if you talk about aliens people think your crazy and that is exactly what they want

As opposed to "talk(ing) about aliens" and getting burned at the stake for it?

Good Lord where do these people come from!

No matter what is said, or what is meant, everything will be interpreted by the interpreter on whatever level of thought they normally operate on.

When attempting to converse from a level of thought different from that which is accepted by the majority it becomes necessary to add further explanation. If further explanation is not provided then one can only expect the level of answers shown above.

Religion isn't a lie. Religion is necessary. The above posts show how people have bought into the scientific advancement so readily that they have forgotten how much of scientific intuition has come from religion. It is true that religion defies experience.

The religious visions we experience cannot readily be explained through materialistic ways. The fact that they are built into all of us. Science wants to explain religion away.

Science is meant for progress, technological advancement and the sort. It should not be trying to prove religion wrong.

Quantum mechanics, ironically ends up proving a lot of ideas about religion to be right. It's the material science that is trying to prove it wrong. Scientists have been brainwashing the civilian population into believing that religion is bunk.

They have gotten people to think that it is meaningless. That it isn't worthwhile. That religion is filled with a bunch of falsehoods. They're wrong. If they really knew what religion was and they studied it and looked at what it really meant they would know that religion is filled with more truths than lies.

A lot of close minded scientists have it all wrong.

i heard that people have never thought the world was flat. not five hundred years ago, not one thousand years ago, not two thousand years ago. in fact i heard that it is a myth that people ever thought that the world was flat.

they always knew it was round.

that's what i heard. but then again, maybe that was a lie.

i personally have no problem believing that the world is flat. I could think up a billion possible ways of creating an illusion that the world is round.

and i guess that science could also be a fabricated illusion. if it is though, why? why would you create such an elaborate system of lies?

you would have to create, for example, gravity and then explain it. same goes for light, mass, energy etc...

maybe the reason is to distract you from what you should really be doing. but what should you really be doing?

and by you i mean me.

i'm on to you...
