I couldn't agree more that AIG and the others deserve to crash and burn, however the impact to the economy would be devastating. If they simply ceased to exist, hundreds of thousands of people would suddenly be without insurance. I heard AIG was a huge player in workman's comp insurance, think about how many businesses would suddenly have no insurance for their employees. On top of that, they were huge in the credit markets, without them the system could've literally run out of liquidity. For quite a while AIG was a prudent and solid investment. The little-guy investors and the average Joe policy holders would be hit the hardest if it simply failed, the fat cats, including the board members and uppermost management would just move on. At least in this bailout we're getting 11% interest on our loan. The fact of the matter is the economy would get on fine without you or I but without these mammoth commercial banks and S&Ls and mortgage lenders it would not. The bailouts were an emergency step to prevent further collapse.

What we need to absolutely positively make sure of is that somebody launches a full-fledged federal investigation into this entire matter to punish those who are really responsible. Of course no one's holding their breath for that.

The reason these "fat rats" at the Fed can do what they doing is that the Federal Reserve is above the Congress and the President and the Supreme Court for all intents and purposes. It may indeed be necessary that they have this immense power because as we have seen without it the economy would be dead right now. Whoever runs a nation's economy can reasonably expect to have the power to do what is necessary to prevent catastrophes. This is a broad principle of federal governments, another example is the President's limited war powers (War Powers Resolution), whereby he can deploy the armed forces so long as Congress is notified within 2 days and the troops are withdrawn within 60 days. When given such monumental responsibilities, these institutions do need monumental powers to prevent catastrophes. The problems arise when oversight or checks and balances are removed and when emergencies are prolonged.

We need to have a method for enforcing accountability on these institutions. If we are stuck with them, we should at least be able to rein them in. There is no excuse for Ben Bernanke being able to sign on the dotted line and create an $85 billion loan and never have to answer to anyone for it, even if it turns out to be 100% justified.

Some alternative news and commentary sites as well as historians have suggested that this is really a power struggle between internal factions of the various central bankers, elites, multi-billionaires, etc. I think it's more of a game, they shake up the pieces and watch the players scramble to sort it out. The same has been said of the Great Depression. There were political goals involved then, and there may well be now, but we know from historical record that they were really just playing a game with the US economy and the populace (of course other nations and peoples became involved, I'm not so Amerocentric as to say the US was the only nation involved in the Great Depression). While they may not know the outcome to a T, they know they'll still come out comfortably on top. What else is their to do when you own the money, the corporations, the militaries, and the politicians?

These big banks and lending firms are in a war right now with smaller banks. The small (200 branch or less) banks that did not float stupid loans and make bad decisions are killing right now in the market. I have seen some small bank stock jump 5-8 bucks in 1 day. One stock which I bought 8 months ago for 9.87 is now 24.33! This ha been a looong time coming. A new set of greedy bastards are slaying the old dragon and some of us are doing great. I feel bad for the people caught up in this on the wrong end. I am blessed to not be one of them..yet

Ron Paul Blasts 'Secret Government' Running Economy

www.infowars.com

Congressman Ron Paul has issued a stinging address concerning the financial crisis in which he outlines how the current economic problems, created via malinvestment and shift to a debt based economy, are now being mismanaged by private interests in secret.

What’s more he says he is not sure the Federal Reserve has any idea what to do next and that the Congress is totally oblivious to the whole sorry state of affairs - a cocktail of elements he warns puts the middle class of America in serious jeopardy.

(visit the link for the full news article)

This was all planned years ago, its the excuse for the new
North American Union and the new currency for it.

The Amero.

It's a scam.

Hope you have tangible wealth when it goes down, I think ppl
stuck holding dollars are gonna be screwed, and Warren Buffet
said get out of dollars.

What to get into, that is a good question.

Silver sounds best to me.

And on Glen Beck today, Dr.Paul hints at how this is pushing us in the direction of a TOTALITARIAN SOCIETY...Again, perhaps this is all part of the diabolical plan by TPB?

This is scary... as the puppet master collects more puppets for the grand finale. Where is this going? It would be great if we all got dividends for these companies "we the people" now own. I'm sure more are to follow. Tangible assets may be a wise choice at this juncture, or maybe my fleet needs to take up gardening if we want to eat down the road.

It looks like the Amero will be rolled out in the next administration. How many Ameros is one US dollar going to buy?

Funny that people are mentioning silver, Steve Forbes recommended it not long ago too. We've also heard that the Amero would be pegged against silver. Anyone else hear about this?

Entropy in the system, law of diminishing returns, karma from discordent lifestyles, etc, call it what you will.
Economy is failing.
America goes to war because it's good for the economy, (as long as you win).
Consolidation of centralized gov't. and social conditioning to accept declination of American rights.

What's next?... I hear foreign investors knocking on our back door.

Just a quick thought...

So, we all on this site know that the general American public is getting played like a cheap poker hand. We understand the Fed, our corrupt government, politicians and the like, while most sheeple say things like "Obama is a real guy, he's someone you could sit down with and have a conversation so I'm voting for him". Ha, they have their rewards I guess. Simple blind living, working 9-5, complaining when taxes go up, but keeping their blinders on to reality. As long as they have a cold one in the fridge, they have achieved their American Dream.

But...

To what extent are WE here being played? I don't think I'm so smart that I could be immune from everything. One of the age old ways to conquer a land is to divide its people, through economy, religion and immigration. I'd say we're pretty much par for that course.

Here in my town, our public park system has been overrun by illegal immigrants. One local park has so many liga latina coaches and players on the fields that there is no room to even throw a frisbee with my kid. When I complained, the response from the city was that there are only "two" permits issued in that "public" park. So, I took photos and told them BS. You cannot even jog around the park's track anymore from all the illegal shopping cart vendors.

Anyway, the point is that while all this money stuff is happening, elections and such, maybe the real war is illegal immigration. The boat only holds so many people, then it topples over. Or maybe it's something else, most likely right under our nose, but under the radar. The bottom line is we know the games, but we need to remain focused and aware of ALL the chess pieces.

Again, just a thought.

It is amazing how the normally power hungry congressmen and women who strive so hard to control every aspect of every American's lives can just turn around and be so distant and "ho-hum" on these bailouts.

Why should they even bother anymore, they worked 600 billion on a new defense bill when they should have just gone to the Fed and asked for them to print some cash.

Hey wait a second can I do that too?

When my April 15 tax bill comes along, can I dust off the photo copier and pay my tax burden with some newly printed cash?

Those two questions keep me up at night marg.

It saddens me to talk to people and realize they are clueless or oblivious to what is happening and the very real possibility of what can come of it. And they are the ones it will affect! I preach it at work. I preach it to friends and family and no one listens. I tell them don't take my word for it, look for it themselves and see. Are they afraid to look and see the truth or do they just not care anymore? Oh, I see another sleepless night.

And it saddens me more to see that our congress isn't full of people like Ron Paul.

In response to the question of why are so many politicians shutting up: They don't know what to say (because most are economic idiots) and because they're afraid to bite the invisible hand that feeds them...

I agree with Detective, the blatancy has reached limits so unthinkable, that even politicians don't know how to act anymore.
Whoever doubted that W, the Fed and Co. are puppets of the real powers, however, can now begin to rethink...

The scary thing is that these elections have become a house of mirrors: everywhere you turn, you don't know if it is something different or more of the same you're looking at. In any direction...

It has be said that people get the government they deserve. We have continually elected officials who vote for increases in pay for themselves and larger and larger entitlements for their "constituents."
I am speaking to the Americans on this board. I am sure that most of us get up and go to work every day, trying to earn enough money to pay for our homes, our cars, and to care for out famleis. And then we vote these same scoundrels into office over and over again, even though they obviously don't have our best interest at heart. We have become sheep, meekly putting these theives back in office, year after year. Yet these politcians don't think about us.
In this country, we have a class of people who don't work, have never worked, and have no inclination to work. This same clase of people have no sense of social responsiblity, yet these are the same people the politicians cater too.
Now the politicians are establishing a new entitlement, one of corproate welfare. So now, in addition to supporting our families, and a class of people who choose not to work, we get the privelege of supporting corporations that have CEO's with golden parachutes that guarantee that if the corporation fails, they still get several million dollars to take with them when they jump ship.
We need more people in office like Ron Paul. And there is only one way to get them. Vote those now in office out. Vote in new members, and if they don't cut entitlements, vote themseves pay DECREASES, and take long hard looks at the companies that are outsourcin jobs, then we vote them out the next time around. It will take several years, but we, as Americans, can get the government we deserve.
What kind of goverment do we deserve?
A government that punishes companies that outsource jobs to other countries.
Agovernment that encourages it's citizens to get out and obtain jobs, so they can support themselves, rather than living on entitlements.
A government that is truly by the people, of the people and for the people.
But we can only do it if we refuse to be slaves to congress(federal and state) and only if we stand up and proclaim that we are free men and women, and prove it with our votes.
I wish Ron Paul had a chance at the Presidency. And I wish there where more like him in Congress.

Yes, exactly. And to think, all it would take to fix this, is put the constitution back into use, as it should be. If we were to get rid of the Federal Reserve, and go back to a government (we the people) run banking system, where Congress is in charge of taking care of the rates and money supply, we would not be where we are today, because of corporate (private banking) back slapping, i`ll scrach your back if you`ll scratch mine type of greed.

My friend one star for you, great post, you are expressing the sentiments of many but as usual we have lost the cojones to get out of our homes and march down to Washington to demand the fat rats from catering to their masters.

The only masters here is supposed to be the American people.

I can not get tire of saying that the corruption in Washington is just incredible.

To all of those who have written a reply to this thread.. I applaud you. Taking the time to know these truths, to research for yourselves, to pay attention, to be TRUE PATRIOTS.... thank you. It is moments like this that I find myself extremely proud to be a part of this forum. And it is for these threads, that I love abovetopsecret.

I have watched so many videos the last few days with titles like, "Barack Obama saw it coming!!" and so forth.. and I want to PUKE! The only person who I know truly did call this, was Ron Paul. And he is the man of the hour. I can't turn on the MSM news now without seeing him talking. Suddenly everyone wants to hear from him. What's next?! they ask...

I don't know if it will work or not, and I'm not trying to derail this thread... but I joined USA180 to help spread the message and try to wake people up. Mark Taylor has sent out the launch directions and I really don't know if America has been slapped hard enough to pay attention, but it's worth a try. So I would encourage all of you to join in this, help spread the message.. and let's take back our country. This shouldn't be a battle for our children to fight. We did this. We allowed it. Our apathy brought it on. Now we need to wake up, fight back, and save America from the lying men who seek to destroy us.

This is our nation! Ron Paul warned us, and is still using his voice... now it's our turn to speak up, and take back this country.
Operation Playball

Yes, and it saddens me, that someone like this is treated in the way he is, as though he doesn`t know what he is talking about. It only shows you how blinded many have been made by the "either your patriotic or your not" attitude. This man really cares about this country and the people in it, and as for that matter, even the world we have to share with all others.

I think they know exactly what they are doing. Crashing the economy is the first step to be able to build the world up again into the shape they want it.

They will say that a world government is the cure. Not only for preventing global economic crisis, but for fighting terrorism, preventing wars and getting all your vitamins in the morning...

You cant create a new world without ripping the old one down first. World government means unlimited power over the entire planet.

People need to start reading Daniel and Revelation, this has been told about over 3,000 years ago.

Get ready for the One World Government.

Bailing these giants out is borderline non-constitutional. If they really wanted to crash they economy, they'd not have bailed them out, simply put, and they'd have plenty of legs to stand on. How someone can watch our government struggle to try to bail themselves out of their own complacent idiocy, and come to the conclusion they are trying to crash the economy baffles me. It was made EASY for them to do so, and they are not doing it. Ditch that theory, it makes no sense.

AIG needed bailing out. Yes, it sucks we pay for it, bottom line, but if they did not, it would be much worse for us in the long run.
