underground ventalation and AC unit near dugway?

pretty interesting link you posted tinstact..There seems to be alot of acreage there, The link was saying its where they test bio/chem weapons there..what do you guys think?

I know you wanted to start talking about you new topic this week and Im excited about that too but I had one more question about your trip to Dugway..I pulled up some info on it and it stated that it could be a bio/chem weapons facilty and its a huge base, Its estimated that it spans some 700,000 acres..is that accurate? and these photos you posted, where is correlation to the base is that substation?..Thanks buddy

the land covered by the base is massive, much like the area 51 facility. Also there is Hill Airforce Base to the North and a chemical depot where they destroy biological and chemical weapons in incenerators to the east.

Extemely desolate location with warning signs everywhere not to trespass. After hiking for a few miles we found a hill overlooking the test range and camped out there for a few nights. While searching around the next few days we drove north of the base between Hills AFB and Dugway North of I-80 near an abandoned Cement Factory (which surprising wasnt all that abandoned we found out!). I can give the exact coordinates if you like

hey hii... on the way on my last camping trip i saw the EXACT same ventilation unit on the side of the road on US- 93... About 45 minutes outside of Area 51. About 10 minutes outside of Alamo. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere with nothing around it. Very odd. The only reason I looked at it was it reminded me of this thread.

Cool thanks for the update man! I also noticed several AC units stacked side by side which i did not take pictures of about 100 yards away. I think these have something to do with underground storage. Its interesting how they are on public land and so accessible. Couldn't they be vulnerable to sabotage?

My opinion is if their are multiple railroad lines close to those buildings that pressure tank could be used for c02 to 'diverge' the train tracks im not sure how they do that nowadays...you know how the tracks shift to move trains from one track to another incase of a potential collision ...and that pole is just buried power lines???

I've done that route plenty of times and don't recall such a ventilation unit. Ten minutes out of Alamo barely gets you past the lakes. Are you thinking of the Level-3 telecom shack. It is an air conditioned building on the east side of route-93. It is a bit further south than 10 minutes out of Alamo.

Looking at Google Earth, I believe it is this building:

Level-3 communications

I checked this facility out because I got the name of the company confused with L-3 Communications (a spook company). You can see how it is easy to get the name confused.

The bigger one looks like a power generator, actually.
Did one side have large screened vents in it? I guess it could also pass air through louvers on the top, but there would have to be a drain on the bottom.
You might also see a fuel vapor port on the side of the unit somewhere(not the same as an exhaust port). It may depend what it runs on, though...this one looks like it may use propane.

So, you have the air conditioned unit and power feed backed up with a generator...possibly.

ok - a few obvious questions :

1 - why would an ` underground facility ` not have its vital plant rooms underground too - every real underground facility has its AC / gensets etc etc inside the facility

2 why would an ` underground facility ` put such a vital and obvious peice of equipment on the surface , with in throwing distance of the external perimeter ?

what happens if johny terrorist comes along and throws poison gas grenades in the intake , or just lobs a satchel charge / thermite device on the roof ?

2b - why is there no berm or vegitation screening protecting / sheilding it ?

just my humble opinion - but people are jumping to ` secret squirril ` conclusions wiuth next to no evidence

It looks ALOT like an air quality monitoring station. The MET Office and local councils (or your local equivalant) use these to monitor the level of pollen & pollution in different areas.

There is some writing right by the lock that probably explains who owns the building. This really shouldn't be rocket science.
