I bought it and started playing it. The first stage, Cell Stage, is fun! Swim around and eat, grow bigger, and evolve. Went with carnivore first time and soon got him spikes to make it easier to kill things.

And then, on my new Planet Oddball(You get to name them) I evolve legs and went to land. Leader of a small group I went out and found dead bodies you go to to find new parts. After meeting a couple groups of other animals I learned how to dance and make friends. The next group I found were so cute and puffy and... tasty. BTW, don't swim too far out in the water, a Godzilla like monster will eat you.

I killed some more creatures, ate, discovered body parts. If you kill an Alpha of a group of animals you discover a part, any others and you just have meat. Some groups will run away when you attack and others will attack you if you attack. That is why when you grow bigger and evolve more you can add creatures to your pack. Either another animal you allied with or someone from your own nest.

WARNING! Mega Monsters exits. One had a 1,000 hitpoints and killed me in one blow. One had 250 hitpoints and I, with three in my pack, were able to kill it to gain a ton of points that you use to buy better parts.

After awhile I killed a ton of animals, evolved, and made it to tribal level. That is where I am now. Hard with all the tribes running around.

I doesn't even really get good until you get to be a space civilization
Everything up till then is like practice.

Yea I sort of trailed off when I was playing around with the little cars and boats and stuff, pretty repetitive. But then you build a space ship and your ship has all these cool abilities and you fly to other planets and solar systems and stars doing missions for people you meet.

I sort of thought it would be more like Black and White..

The best epic creature I've seen was a giant armour plated slug (had no legs), something hysterically funny about being chased down and eaten by such a thing.

I saw an epic that reminded me of Bullwinkle. Then there was the flying one, such a cheat. You can't see it until it kills you as it flies high above.

But my favorite stage in the cell stage, then creature stage. Trbal... is ok but not that fun. But man I love cell stage! So cool just swimming around, get bigger and badder. And the graphics are cool in the cell stage.

My kids love this game.

Having fun seeing them be creative and design their own little creatures. It really is a great game with some simple ideas.

I find it funny that my son, of course, prefers to be a carnivore, but feels guilty killing anything that resembles a pokemon while my daughter went straight to herbivore and refuses to attack anything.

Fun game and worth getting if your children are over the age of 7 imho.

I've tried all three. Carnivores are better in Tribal cause they have better attacks. I tried the instruments and... got annoyed. But an Omnivore is great cause you can eat anything. Especially helps in creature stage since you can eat fruit if you have to. I ahted being low on health or energy as a carnivore cause I couldn't kill anything without getting killed.

But just beat tribal with my Omnivore, quit before I spent all day playing. Can't wait to get back on and try a city!

I played through as a herbie, then a carnie, now an omni... except I'm bored of the game now.

The space stage is great and all, but I just want to terraform planets and explore. Unfortunately every couple minutes you have to defend colonies & allies, that gets old real quick. I'm waiting for a patch before I touch it again.

3 yrs or more I have followed the inception of Spore and waited so excitedly for it's release after watching so many vids from EA about the game..............this was the game to rival WOW and surpass it.

I bought creature creator ( the full version) just to get a heads up on my soon to be Nemesis in the world of spore, I pre-paid for the electronic download of spore just so I was on the front row of the starting grid when the game was released.

Two weeks after release I feel cheated, everything from the vids I had viewed over the last three years seem to be missing from my game....................did I pay the asking price......yes.........did I get the spore I had read, watched even talked about.................NO.

EA, I take my hat off to you, you did a fantastic job in marketing spore, good job you did because the game you promised us somehow has failed to materialise into the game you oh so promised.

My verdict:

Linear gameplay, you couldn't get straighter.

Impact on other creatures, only if you dance before them or bite their heads off...............friend or foe.

My rating of this game, don't get suckered like I have and many more poor unfortunate people have, avoid this game like the plague.

EA you owe the gaming community BIG TIME

I bought the game about a week ago. Space stage is really fun, except for your colony always getting attacked non-stop. If I find myself getting bored w/ the game, I'll just use one of the creators and go to town. On the spore community page (sporepedia) I saw that someone made an entire armada of space vehicles by replicating star wars ships, x-wing, b-wing, no deathstar though....

My 2 cents: Fun game, maybe more fun if you could play online against others in real time, that would be great! All-in-all, I'm not dissappointed entirely, plenty of things to do in-game.

8 out of 10 from me.

I like the creature stage. I've been trying to make everything extinct but there's always another nest to find.

I am wondering how those Epic Monsters are made. Can I make one or are they Maxis only monsters?
