Thank you for replying John, you have cleared up a few misconceptions I'm sure a few of us had. If you don't mind I'd like to ask a few questions.
1) Have you ever seen an actual alien? Dead or alive? In captivity?
No.
2) Do you believe Crop Circles are a hoax?
They are not a hoax. Someone or something has some
very interesting technology that they are using to make these crop circles. Whether it is something someone here on earth developed or some kind of alien technology I do not know.
That is really all I can think of right now, sorry about that. Thank you and I hope you have a good day.

2. Large greys around area 51

I'm not into to this much anymore (my current excuse for memory loss) so if you need any more info on these types you are going to have to google it.

Greetings Mr Lear.
If you check out the following document:
pages.infinit.net...
there is a section on page 2 about yourself (and also your father), how accurate is this personal information?
I'm not sure exactly what you are refering to but most of it looks accurate to me.
There's alot of stuff there, 87 pages worth.
What is your opinion on some of the statements within?
Do you believe in the information it contains?

In Richard Dolan's book _UFOs and the National Security State_ he writes about William Lear's interest in UFOs and anti-gravity. Here are a few excerpts:
During early 1955, several well-known people made waves regarding UFOs. One of these was legendary American inventor, William P. Lear.
-snip-
On February 2, 1955, Lear gave a press conference in Bogot Columbia, stating his belief that "flying saucers come from outer space and are piloted by beings of superior intelligence."
-snip-
On February 10, back in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Lear told reporters that he had seen a flying saucer two months earlier, while flying near Palm Springs, California. He also disclosed that "an American aviation company" was conducting gravitational-field research.
Lear himself certainly got the antigravity bug. A New York Herald-Tribune article from November 21, 1955 quoted him as believing it was possible to create "artificial electro-gravitational fields whose huge polarity can be controlled to cancel out gravity." According to the article, Lear for several months had been "going over new developments and theories relating to gravity with his chief scientists and engineers."
-end-
Note to John Lear: It sounds to me like your father developed an interest in this subject immediately after he witnessed a flying saucer in late '54 or early '55. I had assumed your own interest in UFOs & ETs was a consequence of your father's experience and inside-information.

Mr. Lear, I found this on some UFO related web site, I was wondering if you've ever heard of it.
"The simplest theory to explain the Lazar story is that it is completely false and that he concocted it initally to fool John Lear, who had been telling extravagant aliens-at-Area-51 stories for a couple of years before Lazar arrived. Lazar could have simply fed back to Lear a more rational version of what Lear wanted to hear. "
