So, why was this thread closed? It wasn't the video, I hope, because that video was extremely educational. Maybe it shouldn't have been tagged to Palin, then it's understandable...
Is there another thread with this video in it? If I make one, unascociated with Palin, will it be closed?

The Palin connection made in the closed thread was of course ridiculous.

I watched the video and it had NOTHING to do with Palin. So I doubt they would close a thread if you started one on the SUBJECT of the video alone.

Great thread. I hear so much BS from other sources I get burned out on it. So I came to ATS and read the same garbage. This should be about politics and thats that. If you dont like one candidates stance on an issue, post it and explain why. Not ,well hes got alzhimers, or hes a muslim or she shoots poor animals and eats them.
This is one of the most important elections in 50 yrs. Lets keep it factual.

Shooting straight down the middle?

Then why is MSNBC advertising on ATS?

Come on man. This is a conspiracy site.
By not looking at every detail and every lead of this election, no matter how silly things may get, and if we can't comment until the candidates first get the ball rolling themselves, we are once again being spoon fed and at the mercy of the "Elite Masters", whoever they may be.

I thought the point of this site was to make a difference by trying to expose the "truth". Instead, we are now forced to comment with one hand tied behind our back while walking on eggshells.

We all know if the truth is ever exposed, conspiracies will be a thing of the past, the last thing we need are Conspiracy Pimps.

what about us that are not provacateurs but are republicans?
my posts and threads keep getting slammed the instant i post because they are not for the "left side" or "right side" friendly.
I even started a thread that complimented Obama but questioned one of his policies and it got dleted instantly.

somehow in the interest of fairness a lopsidedness has occured where honest feelings and responses cannot be expressed any longer without getting a warning or worse.

surely we cannot continue this way.

I say temp ban people who continue to whine without reason. If someone has a legitimate complaint about a thread of theirs being closed, then fine.

But otherwise, shut up already. 20 pages of crying is unbelievable.

If you had been here longer you would know that this is NOT ats, it has been besmurched. by this crap.

You cannot Post threads, that are Rumors, and gossip, but rather threads that have a serious political point.

We[the ATS community] are almost 100% sure that this site has been attacked, by the parties.
If people keep posting thread like the ones described you will be banned.

So, do you now speak on the behalf of the staff sublime? Why are you objecting so strongly against other ATS members raising their concerns and asking for clarification?

After 20 pages I would hope that we are intelligent enough as a group to have already made any clarification clear.

The bigger question imo is, why is everyone bickering about this still? That's what this thread is all about. Chill out folks.

I didn't speak on behalf of the staff, I spoke on behalf of myself. That's what I would do, but that's just me.

Asking legitimate questions and filing a complaint based off of something is one thing, but 20 pages of WHINING is just uncalled for and immature.

I agree with you about the folks that are whining but you forgot to mention the major ATS suckups trying to score major ATS "brownie" points,
...literally.

I honestly don't think it works like that.

But that's just my opinion.

I've always considered you to be a fair moderator, and believe even you can see where some clarification is needed. I sent in an alert about the thread "Is Sarah Palin a Diminionist Christian?", and have yet to see any action taken. If this thread does not violate the new guidelines could you please tell me why? I prefer not to get a warning for starting similar threads simply because the policies weren't clear to me. I hope you'll take the time to reply to my earnest question.

I guess you are referring to me, which is fine. In fairness, however, I think you are reading me wrong.

I'm not a suck up, I just can't stand hypocrites and whiners. Half the people crying are upset because they are the ones who will be affected by this thread. They post partisan banter. They post known lies. They post slander.

I'm not sucking up, I'm just enjoying seeing people get what's coming.

*Edit:

But I won't post on this thread anymore because I don't want to help propagate the continuation of it.

Have you asked this question in the thread about ads you can't live with?

I think that ATS contracts the ad content through a company called MediaMayhem both to avoid having to deal with the kind of pressure you're insinuating they've caved into and to help protect the online privacy of its users (us). There's lots of information about it if you look -- the link to MediaMayhem is at the bottom of the page along with the link to TheAboveNetwork L.L.C., which is the official name of the ATS/BTS/AP company. Those are good places to start.

This is my opinion

ATS has been down in the early morning hours (U.S.) two days in a row now. I would much prefer to see SkepticOverlord's time spent trying to figure out what's going on with that than personally having to address every complaint about every mod call under the new guidelines.

What really gets me about this thread is that so many complaints are repeated over and over: "I complained about this and I haven't heard anything back/ nothing's been done/ it's still there." It's only been two days. Often, the complaints about inaction start within an hour of the original complaint. That's ridiculous. Nothing that's been complained about in this thread is so pressing that it can't wait until tomorrow.

These are guidelines to help us get through the election without drowning in noise. Let the owners and mods do their jobs and keep ATS running so that we can quibble about whether we should have the right to post anything we want on someone else's bandwith and servers after November.

So, it looks like there maybe a tactic to move threads someone doesn't like to unknown locations. I've made a coupe threads and I've seen a few other good ones, moved to unknown locations on the forum. they are being spread to all kinds of places. Some of them, not even on this forum. One of mine was moved to BTS.

The the threads don't break any rules. So, have the powers that be found a way around that? Simply moveing them to different locations? That way, nobody ever sees them.

I can understand one maybe, but not the other. Why would you move a comparison of candidate interviews from the discussion 2008 forum, to the "education and media" forum? That forum sounds popular!

Not to mention the other very relevant threads that were moved. How do we know where they went?

When discussing rumours, do you sense a difference between yellow press tabloids and conspiracy-theory?

A lot depends on the on the nature and the quality of the topic . Unless a claim or claims made in The Grey Area are verified that you could argue that such a forum is a conspiracy version of some of the less vicious tabloids .

Note I am not calling elements of ATS tabloid journalism I am just putting the question into and my answer into perceptive.

Do you sense a difference between allowing paid propagandists to spam the board vs. keeping the board focussed on its main issues?

Look all that has been proven is that a larger number of extremely partisan members were active at the same time . There is no proof that these members were sent by there respective political party or that they were paid . Judging by just how partisan US politics is and from the fact I have a family member who is deeply involved in politics I would say that the members in question were much closer to average Joes then paid operatives .

Do you want this website to be indiscernible from mainstream?

As ATS becomes more popular and gets more mentions in the media it is becoming a part of the mainstream hence all the accusations about being a CIA front and so on . You cant have your cake and it to .

where personal attacks and disrespect towards others is common?

Of course not but enforcing the T&C as it was would have been fine .

If these measures are so necessary then how do explain the presence of high quality political discussions that have been tucked away ?

Paid Campaigners can take their internet-warfare elsewhere.

Outside of ATS proof would be required when such allegations are made . Members don't seem to grasp the seriousness (for the lack of a better term ) of the allegations because they are behind a keyboard .

Read up to page 13. Very tired

Since reading everyone's opinions up the point stated, I think I support the PTS or some "named" arena where everyone can do all their bashing. If it does not cost ATS owners anymore money, why not?

Very disappointing to see rules implemented that are restricting us more.

And yet, if we have more Productive and more Solution based threads to actually solve our problems and not just talk, bicker and whine about them, then maybe the world would change.

Is ATS trying to change the world?

Talk is cheap. Action is expensive.
