[This is in the Grey Area because there wasn't anywhere else it would fit.]

I joined this forum to look into the search for truth - on terrorism, ETs and humanity in general.
And for a long time lurking, and a few months being registered, it was great. I was coming on here every day reading more articles than I could count, enjoying every minute of it and learning a lot more than I ever did in state sponsored education.

However, recently it appears to have been taken over by people who give too much of a poo about the upcoming US Presidential election. Don't get me wrong, it is a fascinating subject, and I quite like reading about little slip ups, and even supposed 'secret agendas' of the potential candidates.

What I don't give a flying feck about however, is what Sarah Palin eats for breakfast, or whether Obama's second cousin 3-times removed is really Amerikan or not.
The board hasn't been taken over, its been completely overrun by idiots. And yes, I do mean the vast majority of recently active members.
Idiots who care more about which country kicks the crap out of another, idiots who are determined to tell the world why their candidate is better, but its only because they eat their greens and don't tolerate all dem der darn terrorists.

The entire system is beyond fatally flawed, you should all have figured by now that to get to the top in politics takes so long, with so many overheads, that whatever we say or do (short of a violent, bloody revolution), its not going to make a scrap of difference.

And, for the record, the USA isn't the entire world remember. There are plenty of other countries with their own problems at home that need sorting. Britain's in chaos atm.
But of course, we aren't going to be corrected by the fools in charge of the US because the fools in charge here are in cahoots with them, we aren't a threat to the global domination agenda of people running the world behind the scenes.

Grrraaaaaaaaaggghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
I'm going outside now, to see real daylight and real people.
Enjoy slagging each other off whilst I'm gone, its all you ever seem to do anyway.

And to make this a valid thread... does anybody agree? Disagree? Go on, tell me why.
It'll give me something to laugh at later

Hi selfisolated. I can certainly understand your consternation. I've been there.
My advice is to stay away from any political thread like the plague. It smells there.
Prone to a lot of infighting. I think people magnify their perception of the recent 'cough' rnc/dnc runs which needed its own front end loader. For the you know what

Hang in their friend. It'll be over soon if the LDC doesn't do it for us first. Tomorrow's always a better day.

I just said rnc/dnc didn't I. I would have liked to hear them rap it out, and I don't even like rap than the monotronic metered dribble.

Welcome to ATS, lol

This kind of thing has been happening for months now, even before you were here my friend. Reality is though, that the website is primarily composed of Americans, so there is no doubt that most the issues regarding politics etc, will be American in nature.

There's not much that can be done about that......its just the way it is

If ATS is getting too much for you, try spending sometime on BTS, and stay off the political threads, it works for me

Agree OP...

It's almost embarrassing to see how folks here, even on ATS-a CONSPIRACY based web-site, have completely eaten up the propaganda, and swilled down the kool-aid about these hand-picked candidates. People are cheering on these puppets, who are ALL going to serve the EXACT SAME INTERESTS as the previous ones. Instead of being up in arms, writing in the constituents and corporate-infiltrated media, they are here CHEERING ON these choices, and continuing the bi-partisan bickering and insults, as if either of these candidates is going to make ANY changes.

Just goes to show you, even at ATS, the sheeples are brainwashed and easily manipulated by the same, status-quo routine.

Get ready for 4 more years of looting and rights vanishing.

It is rather annoying, on BBC Parliment as well.
Hardly any room on the channel for what it's supposed to cover.:shk:

Hey. Yes, in the political season it certainly seems that political discussions are dominating the board. Here is something you can do, though, that way the people who are obviously enjoying the political discussions can continue enjoying them while the rest of us not interested won't be drowned by them.

In your member center, you can alter your settings to only show the threads in the forums you'd like to see on the recent posts list. Adjust your settings to 'MyAts only' and then subscribe to the forums you are interested in. In other words, don't subscribe to the forums dealing with politics. Then when you hit 'recent posts,' only the threads with new replies in the forums YOU subscribed to will show up. Hope that helps. It's a wonderful feature.

lol

Seriously, this happens to most of us from time to time.

My cure..I stay away from subjects that annoy me and have learned what to take seriously and when to have a laugh.

If it ain't fun, don't do it, and if it's important, spread it.

Remember, this place is for discussion, not action.

Take a break for a while and maybe things will seem a little less "fed up" for you here. Good luck.

Just the other day I sought the help of a mod to block DECISION 2008 from my RECENT POSTS section. I am now breathing much better. It has gooten quite political here lately (more than usual). If this block feature wasn't available, I would have logged off until 2009.

You are not alone in feeling this way.

I see this all the time on every-single-forum I have EVER belonged to. What do the political discussions or debates have to do with you? I didn't even know they existed in the form you described until YOU pointed it out to everyone! I look for things I want to read and talk about, and what others like doesn't concern me unless it concerns me.

Iggy it. You'll live longer.

Just don't participate in any political debates. If you want to participate, only respond to those people who do have reason and intellect that you want them to have. That way it will eventually happen that board gets taken over by people who make arguments you can live with. It'll take some months to do such a thing, though.

Even if you don't get it taken over, and by this I mean post count, you still get better debates. Its your own choice to debate or not to, and should you need any debates, go with a premise that you only respond to posts that have matters that make sense.

Its a phase, trust me with this one. You get going in a cycle, the whole world runs in it too.

Some days are up, and some are down... it happens to everyone. ATS/BTS goes through it as well.

Nobody can make me go into a thread that I don't like. I for one could never get fed up with ATS for certain threads like Decision 2008 or Political Conspiracies etc... It's like TV or the Radio, if I don't like what I'm watching or listening to then I turn the channel. The same goes here for me. If I get bored with ATS then there's BTS to turn to and it's alot of fun there. I don't think there will ever be a time in human life that everybody is satisfied with everything. You just got to ride the ride and sift through the junk along the way.
