Well, make the city "their own" has definitely been accomplished on a location by location basis
But this is where I say the racism topic comes in in terms of Obama will not even adress the issue.
He had no problem as a person becoming in manner and action a mainstream American... of course all Irish within a generation or 2 moved off the EC and
did exactly that
A portion of Black American culture has perpetually sought to intentionally differentiate themselves and frankly i really don't believe much modern
White to Black resentment/racism has anything to do with skin color and alot more to do with completely disenfranchising themselves from White
American culture in deliberate attempts to stand out and not "Uncle tom" or "Sell Out"
Thats's the Diddy crowd... I mean, i didn't for a second get...even his sense of Humor, I don't think alot of Black people would either... but I'd
bet in "Thug Culture" "Street Culture" there where Black guys who whooped away at that...
The problem I see is that is where alot of Racism lies and it is not just White people who dislike it, "don't get it" don't want it... Asians are
freaked by it Alot of Hispanics don't like it and it's a very isolating thing particularly I am sure for a large portion of the Black community that
, while maybe don't have issue with it and understand it better, or can deal with it better, still become a victim of "racial profiling" in that no
one wants to live in a Black neighborhood besides Black people (and Bill Clinton)
But lots of Black men and women speak aout about it... the web is, ripe with articles by Black Women who really rag Black men for the kind of culture
they can sometimes create around them
and more than one Black Male like Bill Cosby has been very loud on the issue
But again the "Uncle Tom" stigma will just shuit down anyone Black or white that says anything
I have a particular friend who i do work for, black guy, he goes out with me in my richie all white neighborhood... (and, please this is not to be a
jerk ... don't take this badly anyone, this is my pal and a good pal)
But him and I hang out and, he is into all sorts of things I enjoy, I can talk to him on any subject and he's great
a few weeks back I introduce him to a couple of guys who are more... "street culture" types and... he starts hopping around being all, loud and
over physical and talking sterrt and just... transformed into an idiot, even worse because he wasn't very good at it and and even could tell
and that's kind of sad...
so the pressure to conform arounf thug/street culture is...enourmus I guess... You see white kids do it lets face it (and they really look moronic)
But Obama.. on a level he does it too, he speaks great, he is smart, but he changes around Black people... and he carries a version of it, he has to
play the part he will blow out a whitey comment or two in public, he will use the facial exressions in mixed company and he is an instigator
and it's kind of funny, because it goes way beyond the simple blatant things you see on the street, it's in the gestures and body language, Black
people love him and Diddy loves him because... he throws street cred out and does it while talking white and...lol white people like me who grew up
around Black people catch it but most white people don't
and we don't have a word for it lol...so it's hard to explain... and it goes right over most white people heads, but he does it all the time and
it's really insulting, insulting to the point where I really can't stand the guy
and alot of Black people just play with it say racist really loud lol if a white perrson is catching on, but, the guy frankly is just disrespecting
white people sometimes and no one gets it but black people and most of them condone it... he throws it out, in gesture, in body language in expression
all the time even in speech but he's speaking white when he does it...
Actually the guy is smart as hell, he communicates on many levels at once... and he's a professional instigator though, white people just don't
catch it that much... I do, I'm from brooklyn most of my life, I know this guys game
