Is there some cheap way to test out the battery-charging thing? Would you be willing to do it Scramjet?

there are several things of note when it comes to the ranch. There are the sightings over Mt. Adams and the activity in the skies. There's the so called orbs (which we've pretty much explained as dust from the dirt and echinacia plants). Then there's James and his spiritual beliefs regarding the region, the mountain and the visitations.

We went there to see the activity in the skies as this is the one aspect of the total package that we could all see with our own eyes and, as a team, discuss and try to explain. The orb discussion took place on the first night and was summarily dismissed as dust without much need for further research. James and his guests brought up the orbs as they were prevalent in their photos. As I said, we quickly explained it and moved back to the task at hand, the skies.

James' spirituality, his claims of recharging batteries, shapeshifting on film etc were not given much attention because none of this had any bearing on the activity in the skies. James is an extremely nice guy and a very gracious host so, when he brought up some of these other things, we did our best to listen and let him speak but it was not part of our investigation and, therefore, wasn't given much attention. Truth is, I don't believe he can recharge batteries, I didn't put much stock into the many photos he showed me as evidence of his changing into a cat or being visited etc. My problem with stories told to me usually center on my not being there and my not having enough faith in anyone but myself to give me an accurate description of the events. I'll give you an example of how hard it is to convince me of something.

I met Johnny in person for the first time on this trip. I've spoken with him on the phone a few times and emailed back and forth with him for over a year but this was our first face to face meeting. I consider him to be a good friend and I put a lot of stock in his knowledge in the field of ufology. He's an amazing investigator and he's very well known in the field when it comes to filming and investigating aerial anomolies. He's also very passionate about this. He was like a kid in a candy store on the ranch. He was really in his element. (we were all a bit starry eyed over the prospect of being there). Anyway, after we left, he told us about the amazing footage he was capturing. This, to me, is as good as me seeing it first hand because I know how he operates and how dedicated he is to the integrity of his footage. Had he told me he saw a triangle craft and aliens came down and landed nearby, I would not believe it without pictures. James was very good at raising the excitement level whenever we saw something. He was very good at getting the team worked up over things and this, I believe, helps taint the sighting to some degree. So, when a light would appear in the sky and we all started watching it, we all saw the same thing and we could all try and figure out what it might be. When James starts saying "look it's powering up, look, there it goes...powering up...it must be calling up another ship..etc" he is actually pushing the mind towards believing that it is a spaceship and that there is something alien going on above you. Is that the case? Don't know but when you have a "cheerleader" pumping you up, you are going to be easier to convince.

Thus, I say again, James is not an integral part of this investigation. The lights in the sky were there. If James was in his house making eggs they still would have been there and we would have been focusing on them. If James told me he was going to shift into a cat for me, I'd have gladly taken the pictures and tried to debunk it but I wasn't there for that as I don't believe it can be done - why waste my time and money to see something that I am fairly sure cannot be done without an inexpensive camera and a shaky hand.

drain your batteries down to nothing and then let him try and charge them.

Johnny did it. He bought some batteries that didn't work right out of the package. He gave them to James and James gave it his best shot and when they didn't charge he said it was probably a result of their never being properly charged.

There's always an excuse for these things.

I would but sounds like Crakeur and Johnny already tried it. I don't want to hassle James about magic tricks either. I'm going to the ranch as a skeptic. I'm going to focus on the skies from 10pm to as late as I can keep my eyes open.

thanks for your response on this 'battery' talk though i guess when Johnny mentions this in his post you have to expect that you will get inquiries.
you have made your point re not discussing the ranch/james and supposive powers though maybe pass those onto your fellow compats so it dosent raise intrest and we stick to the point.

sorry to bring the 'naughty word' up again

From what we could tell it's no trick, James was able to charge the batteries with his hand. If you listen to the latest ATS:MIX show you'll hear also from the Executive Producer and the film-crew that they had similar experiences with Batteries and such.

Posted by JohnnyAnonymous, on August 31, 2008 at 20:48 GMT:

I've never seen anyone recharge batteries in a few seconds back up to full charge before. In fact the batteries that my audio device uses that were as dead as a doorknob at the time of my recording an interview with James (my display wouldn't even light up) still have a full charge and this is despite my using it for an additional 10 hours of recording use after his "recharging" and almost the same amount in playback time. I'm looking at it right now and it still shows a 90% charge, this being a week after I left and my listening to the recordings on the 22+ hour road-trip back to the California Studio. So make what you will from that

Posted by JohnnyAnonymous, on September 1, 2008 at 05:21 GMT:

Don't know about all that.. all I know of is my own personal experience when my audio recorder wouldn't work and James held my batteries in his hand for just a few seconds and they have worked like new since (and still have a 90% charge). I watched James very closely and he did nothing special to the batteries other than hold them for a few seconds. No banging, no voodoo, just held them, and then handed them back.

Posted by Crakeur, on September 2, 2008 at 11:42 GMT:

To further that point, the inane talk of battery recharging I mentioned in the video was all tongue in cheek. I was poking fun at his claim, thus I said I never saw the camera showing no juice and thus Springer, Johnny and I all talked about James laying hands on our generator.

I just got off the phone with "Michelle" at Gilliland's ranch. I don't want to get everyone stirred up but Michelle says Johnny caught a flying triangle on film!

Just saying what she said. I'm not trying to speak for Johnny or Team ATS.

Then Michelle must be psychic, because I don't recall any triangles being captured, but then again maybe one of the static cameras did and if so, that would be great. But as it sits right now, your information is incorrect. And how is it you spoke to Michelle if she's not at the Ranch? My sources tell me that she is off in California. Hmmm.. curious..

I want to point something out that should be noted before anyone watches any of the upcoming videos. 75%+ of them have no audio associated with them. This is because the NightVision device records only Video, no audio. And we decided rather than add some cheesy music (which I have to admit I did add to one small comparative video), that we'd leave it as it is. This way you don't have to be wrapped up in any hoop-la by hearing commentary, you can judge the videos just on their own merits. Now there are some daytime static 'modified' cameras that do record sound along as doing so in infrared. I just want to be upfront and 'straight' with you all so I don't have to hear.. "SO WHY ISN'T THERE ANY SOUND WITH THESE, WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO HIDE"? And I know there will still be a few that do so anyway, so I'm hoping you folks will bring those folks up to date in their reading of posts and information.

Because of time constraints in the viewing of videos and then re-reviewing segments of a video, and then comparing that segment with Birds, Bugs, and particulate matter, this is an extremely long and laborious process. Anyone that has worked on graphics, animation, film, TV, radio, etc., know that no matter what one does, it will still take a loooooong time for the final product. So keep that in mind all of you that keep yelling, u2uing and emailing me for "Where's the Videos, When do we get to see more footage, Can I help out, Can I have a sneak-peek"? I hate to say this but for the most part, many of you have the patience of a "knat", and considering that science doesn't even know how to register that patience level, well, that doesn't say much for those of like displayed qualities.

But... I am rather excited over the prospects of you all having a ball and debating on what might or might not have been captured while we were up in Washington. I'd also like to resound that this started up being solely a pre-liminary investigation to see if there was any truth behind UFO activity near MT. Adams. Regardless of you wanting it to be something else, just isn't going to be happening (albeit if a secret camera caught James levitating, speaking to aliens or shape-shifting, then that would be something else entirely, but so far I've not seen anything like that
). Again, were just looking for "AERIAL PHENOMENA".

Now with that said, and my making my cameo appearance, I need to get back to viewing videos, I'm going to need a vacation for my eyes after this all said and done..

Yak later to ya ppl...
Johnny

This is exactly why we need people like you guys out there investigating. This can happen alot and people do not even know that they are being duped into seeing something that isn't really there.

When ever investigating you must always rule out the obvious and then the not so obvious and move on from there, yada yada.. I could go on but everyone has probably heard it all already...

Let's see some images. Why not just post it all and let the great team here on ATS help go through them all?

Very simple. A $10-$15 volt-ohm meter from Walmart and a dead battery that you have somehow marked. A U.V. ink would be particularly sneaky.
Check the battery before and after. If it's charged after, I'll believe it and I'm a quite a skeptic of such claims. Many of the volt-ohm meters are specially calibrated for 1.5 and 9 volt batteries as well as other voltages. A great tool for checking the batteries in your battery drawer, workshop, junkbox or whatever. I always take several electronic devices, including my meter on my U.F.O. field trips.

All of the the video will be great to see, but let's give them enough time to do it right. I'm still working on things from Stephenville.

Here's how it is ...

There has always been some healthy banter on ATS about ECETI and the Gilliland Ranch and a lot of it caused by me and my posts. I am a staunch Gilliland supporter and always will be.

Now after all the crying and moaning from literally hundreds of readers ATS have taken the initiative to go and do a preliminary investigation. It sounds like Johnny has actually captured some anomalous activity and it will be presented in due course.

The problem is regardless of what ATS present, there is already an undermining of James occurring here on the thread , so Just as much as you say that James tries to set the mood when a light appears .. Anonymous Posters are here doing exactly that , already trying to taint the guy with no previous knowledge passing comments like "locals think he's a crack pot" ... "he's a charleton" ... ETC ETC ...

PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO TAINT YOUR PERCEPTION OF THIS INVESTIGATION BY DISCREDITING JAMES .... DO NOT FALL FOR SUCH RUBBISH ....

Myself and my colleague had our most amazing sighting there when no one was present ... not one person. It was our first night with no prior contact with James, just Nigel and myself ... so there was no hyping excitement or pre-empting just two guys with in excess of 15,000 hours of flying experience observing the sky going "holey crap that's amazing" .. Nothing like we've ever seen.

Some people are spiritual some are nuts and bolts guys ... so regardless of debate usually never the twain shall meet. We went there as a nuts and bolts guy but I have left awakened to some degree so from my perspective it's not just about lights in the sky there is something more going on there.

I am sure this will be an awesome video once it's released , and hat off again to the ATS crew for going to such length.

No real investigation can be performed without looking at all of the aspects of the phenomena. You fail UFO investigations 101 on your first field trip! Rationalise it in any way you want, your host was a very important part of the overall study. I strongly suggest that you study some Mufon UFO investigation manuals or whatever you blokes have there before your next effort. The Johnny 5 fellow or whatever his name is seems much more experienced in these field studies. Perhaps he can help you develop the proper skill sets. Amatuers cannot produce professional results, just a rule of the universe, no offense, mate.

I may join ATS as an open member at some later date.

Well that's a whole lot of typing without actually saying a single thing!

If you have a point to make, make it! Don't skirt around the issue, making accusations using nothing but guesswork. You appear to be doing nothing but suggesting you know better but you have done nothing to prove that.

I could easily go on a psychology forum, after a Doctor has posted a video of his lecture and spout out exactly the same #e you have just done. Doesn't make it true, doesn't show I know better, it would only make me look like a bit of a prick!

Well, that's am extremely obnoxious post!

Don't you think the mods know what they are doing here? Don't you think they might have a plan for the way this information is released, to make it as entertaining as possible for us without throwing it all on the table for us to rip it apart.

Your post was completely pointless and you know it. I believe you typed that for no other reason than your own benefit.

Hey, great post there karmick.

As you aptly pointed out, JA's testimony of the battery recharging is crystal-clear. And it is interesting that the producers of "Contact Has Begun" say the same thing too....

This is definitely something worth a second look IMHO. Especially since all it will take to verify it is a video camera, a $15 volt-meter, and a few dead batteries....

I did not realize beforehand that we were not supposed to comment on ANYthing other than what was being seen in the air near Mt Adams. I figured we could discuss anything that was included in either Johnny's appearance on James' radio show, or what was mentioned (if only briefly), in Johnny's own thread.

On Aug 17th, jpvskyfreak, started a thread informing everyone that Johnny was on James' radio show. www.abovetopsecret.com...'

In this broadcast, Johnny explains at length what happened with his batteries.

Aug 30th, Johnny posts a thread informing ATS that he's back from the Gilliland Ranch. www.abovetopsecret.com...'

Both thread titles include the words Gilliland...or James. But, discussing James Gilliland is off-topic? I may have missed it but, again, I didn't see in Johnny's OP where talking about James himself or his alleged abilities were off topic. Maybe the threads in question should be edited to include in the title, that ONLY discussion of what is being seen in the air there is on the table. Maybe it should be more clear that the team did not go there to investigate James, or his alleged abilities. If that's the case, just say you went to Mt Adams, it doesn't matter where you actually stayed.

Sorry if this is off-topic, as I , again, am not talking about what was seen in the air at James Gilliland's ranch.

i would consider this behaviour - even if it is meant nicely coz he belives and thinks he knows what is going on - manipulateing.
how can you while watching and analyzing the videos push the feelings james tried to create (in most honest and best purpose i guess)?

have you ever watched something and recorded without james being around?
