Another of my favorites on Mars.

Right. Of course. So when you see shapes in clouds are they there because some intelligence is trying to communicate or make art?

I hope that you are just being silly now...

I really don't have a problem with folks seeing man-made structures. I really *want* them to find something on Mars, that would be amazing. I just think the majority (i.e. all) of the things found so far are not definitive. Saying it's 100% defininitive proof is silly imho.

For example, here is a site where people are finding all sorts of images right here on Earth, thanks to Google Earth. We have heads, hearts, valentines, lips, you name it. Are you going to suggest these were all man-made as well?

www.dvhardware.net...

Just saying... natural formations can end up looking quite amazingly like objects we know, but they are still natural.

Oh, here we go, now we're seeing random images again.... if it's not rocks, it's clouds, if it's not clouds, it's rocks again... We can see patterns in everything. What makes this latest photo special?

The OP pictures, I agree are quite... well... amazing.

But as amazing as they are, they still lack definition and clarity...

We are still at a stand still... no definate proof, no definate answer....pure speculation.

One day we will have results, and I hope that day is sooner than later.

Here's hoping it is sooner.

Cheers, Fox.

How can you call that a natural formation ? Are you joking or do you think we are the only ones in this whole universe?

We're definitely not the only ones. I highly doubt, however, that a highly adapted, intelligent sentient species had evolved on Mars at about the same time that humans had on Earth. Besides being as statistically improbable as the occurrence of abiogenesis in your feces, the fact that this occurred the next planet over would be logical cause enough for the instantaneous self destruction of the universe.

I realize this might sound like a dumb question, but is there a mathematical method to calculate the probability of recognizable shapes being meaningful (artificial, as opposed to natural)?

I realize that there are aspects that are not defined, thus they must be... but hey, it's a start (resolution is one, human psychology and perception is another)

I have a funny word (enter the word you see below) as an anonymous poster, it's "illuminati" .... coincidence????
anyone else see that word in this context? lol.

Hating an agency that has contributed so much to our understanding of the universe is just incomprehensable to me. I'm astonished at the willingness of folks to simply bury their head in the sand and ignore the vast contributions NASA has made. What of the other space agencies? Will they soon be on the hate list too?

The stuff is artificial as can be.

I dont understand why this is such of a helluva "stretch". Its only a "stretch" if ones brain is unflexible.

Its just a few buildings on Mars, nothing out of the ordinary.

Unfortunately there´s nothing more to say on this because it is as it is. All thats left now is to ensure that enough people see this thread.

well i have to admit i was wrong. me and the MANY MANY MANY other people that saw what i did but did not get flamed by the OP for saying so. so we are all wrong. there are artificial structures all over mars. there is a photograph of a person from venus. why are you people not contacting every MSM outlet you can???????????????? and dont say they wont listen, call larry king right now, you will be on next week, i guarantee. why are you all sitting on all this amazing proof?

This is a classic example of the mind playing tricks with a photo taken from a serendipitous angle.

The image provided by armap is worth reposting as it shows that the area has nothing to suggest built structures, and the apparent complex that zorgon delineated is a trick of angle and lack of definition.

So again, armap's image:

Zoom in, look around, and you'll see that appearances are, in this case, deceiving.

can i ask a question. a serious question without being attacked as a 'debunker' just looking for a fight.

how would anyone know that life followed any plan throughout the universe. what other examples of life from our universe do you have aside from earth?

-asking, not attacking.

Looks like a bunch of naturally occuring mountain plateaus to me. The surrounding like terrain seems to support my opinion.

Ah, there we go.. thank you! I didn't realize this was taken from a different angle. And here we have definative proof that this is nothing, just a natural formation. What looks like shadows in the first photo, are just dark patches seen very clearly on the second. Star for that find, that's great.

perhaps the people that were so rudely run from this thread for claiming that it looked like rocks are owed an apology. what do you think now that you see they are just rocks too?

People are welcome to believe whatever they want, I just like to point out that a more natural solution is probably the answer than an amazing one. I think too many people jump to immediate conclusions that something is a stucture, or an alien artifact or a statue. Coloring something in doesn't make it a structure. Near straight lines and circles DO occur in nature, quite often in fact.

Even after this second photo, which imo, conclusively proves it's just a natural spot on the surface, there will be some folks that still insist it's a building of some sort. Why? I guess investment of time trying to prove it, and really really wanting to believe it.

The universe is fractal in nature. Molecules arrange themselves in only so many ways. Often, heat and pressure effect the arrangement of molecules, so we know not to look for something like metallic hydrogen on Mars, and thus will strike that as a possibility for how life might arrange itself there.

You can also strike arrangements that would be nonconducive to life, as they would provide no purpose in the broader sense of electrochemical response.

So, it would seem that life can arrange itself in only so many ways. Certainly, on the micro these would be vastly different. However, on the macro, for it to be life as we currently are trying to define it, we must expect that there will be a certain "rhythm" to the way the molecules will arrange themselves.

This would not include possible energy forms, such as the critters that are often discussed (see Zorgons thread on the STS-75 incident for further explanation). However, it would still define the outward appearance of such beings (if they were electromagnetic in nature in any way at all), and would follow forms that are more associated with plasma physics.

That is my two cents on the subject.

Perhaps if NASA wouldn't withold our information from us, there would be less issue with them.

However, i do not think it would be called "hate" insomuch as "disappointment" or "frustration".

And I say photos because while everybody was insulting everybody else I went looking for other photos of that area.

I agree. I wanted to say that all i saw were natural shapes but after reading how people were trounced for that, I was somewhat afraid to express my thoughts on here.

Pretty cool. Does anyone see any similarities between these structures and the ones on the moon?
