This is just an off shot of what I call "Roddenberry-science."

For implausible reasons, a species decided to sprinkle its genes across the stars.

There are multiple flaws in this innocent dream.

Even if you drop a cell off with your genes, the probability of it evolving into anything like you is very low. First off, the cells would automatically grow into you because they're your genes. Secondly, if you only deposited parts of your genes, you couldn't. It would just be creating a basic life form that then would evolve towards the conditions on the planet, nothing looking like you.

Also, a species capable of creating organic life forms would automatically not need to seed other worlds. We have yet to colonize another world yet of the technological know-how to create robots that can serve us and self replicate.

So why create organic life when the machine can do better?

Yeah.. pretty much what I thought as well. It would be really cool if we had some built in abilities like breathing under water (like in The Abyss). But I think just because we have junk DNA, doesn't give us special abilities. It may play some role in out evolutionary process, but it may take millions of years before mankind sprouts wings.

Residual DNA is nothing more than left behinds in evolution.

You don't need Jurassic Park, A chicken has the DNA within it to create most of the early feathered dinosaurs. Just activate it.

That is more correct - in fuctional neuroradiology (i do this as a NR)

there is mounting evidence that our ENTIRE brain is a gigantic

holographic memory bank, processed by the hippocampus and limbic

system. That's why people still remember things when lobes of the brain

are chopped out; the data has holographic symmetry throughout the brain.

etc.

As for alien dna, look at how sitchin 'stitched' together our history from

E.DEN (olduvai gorge) to Sumer, and how h. sapiens developed speech

at around the same time 200,000 years ago. of the 120 odd genes

that do not show evolutionary patterns, the gene locus for language lies

in this group, and they are also 200k years NEW. Hmmm, the larynx dropped

and the skull base curved at the same time...

Our 'junk' DNA is the key - the 70,000 codons here outnumber

the other known genese.

Give it some time, we'll know soon enough.

It was around there the humans went through the greatest challenge. We already had big brains, but it was only species that were creative that survived.

Evolution went into acceleration because very few were left.

Why did mammals evolve so much quicker than dinosaurs? Technically, because mammals abandon mutant children and their children require motherly care, mammals should have taken much longer to evolve.

Just one of the mysteries.

Certainly not aliens thought.

yea i guess i missed the part where it was found proven we evolved. because if we evolved why did we lose 80% of primates strength and 2 pairs of chormo's. hmm. i think its pretty rediculous to still believe in human evolution, maybe adaptation. i know what though. we dont have to long to wait before we find out who is right. the mayan calendar is on time. i suggest preparing for the worst. its going to be a tough 4 years.

Oh my.. And the scientific community just happens to have extra-terrestrial DNA? to do a comparison...I don't think so. I don't buy it..

You know what they say? There is a sucker born every minute.. And you are amongst their ranks.

Bring something Intelligent to ATS.. Not this Garbage.

I've heard that myself as well. Personally I believe that the so-called "junk" DNA is actually genetic memory storage. Every person has a complete genetic history of their individual heritage and also much more. I think it has the ancestral memories of all the people in the individual's genetic lineage.... and no I did not get that idea from Assassins Creed (it is a really cool game though).

And of course there is no evidence of this it is all just conjecture/theory - but what a cool theory it is.

Frank Herbert's Dune series also has a concept like this, its called "Other Memory".

Hmm well I had not thought of that before ...possible ..

Possibly off topic but....have to add this ...
I used to ponder on the stories of reincarnation (which I do not believe in)
I thought about dna .....thinking maybe some memories of ancient relatives may very well come down with dna from generation to generation ..which would explain why some people have memories of past lives .....
I went digging online and found that some scientists that work with dna have considered that same thought ...
I thought it was very interesting ........

This 'junk DNA' is one of most mysterious things ever. Nobody knows why its turned off. I think they just call it junk as a cover for that they are clueless. 95% of DNA is unknown and i wouldnt call 95% of anything 'junk'.

Gregg Braden has a movie called Awakening to Zero Point. He goes into the turned of DNA in it. He shows how emotion can turn on and off these coding sites.

Planet-X? Give me a break. If it's supposed to pass us around 2012 then we obviously would be able to see it by now.

And anyways, I thought 2012 was all about passing through the Galactic Plane?

Alien DNA waiting to be activated ?

Brain ' switching on ' ?

telepathic abilities ?

2012 ascension ?

planet Nibiru coming ?

goverment Blood testing for Genetic Mutation ?

Red , Blue or Yellow classifications ?

Fema Death Camps ?

Y2K disinfo ?

and you had to throw in

Haarp and the cern ihc project ?

Man this is the biggest bowl of B.S. soup i ever smelled...

i have a question for you...

how are you going to feel when 2013 arrives and none of what you say came true ?

just on the memory bank part why is it when the cases ive looked into have been regresseed to get this information everyone is a famouse person from history i mean come on ...just waiting for the new banch to come out and someone say they where mother tersa LOL or a sasquach in a freezer

as for the DNA well with the current evidence that the scientific community has no alien DNA to comape to ours im going with its left overs from evolution sorry

but on a lighter note some nice links thanks for the read some things to ponder at least

Alien DNA mixed with our DNA , wonder where they got the alien DNA from that matched the DNA in us .
Well i am not going to say this is not true or false because i am not a DNA dude. Do we have a sample of alien DNA floating around here so we can have a bit of a compare. I think not.
And if we did not one person in the genreal public would ever know ever,
every time i see things like this i always just think too mutch xfiles.

The implications here are far reaching... and matches with the terrapapers and the historical summerian accounts... Looks like creationist were right all along exept our maker is not who they think they are.

Ya Know, that actually was in the news not to long ago

I believe it was a Russian scientist who stated that Junk dna was actually alien

I don't believe in junk dna

I doubt that nature makes filler without a purpose

that would make nature lazy or dumb

So yeah...................russian scientist, now run with it

I'm at work or i'd do more research myself

I think it has to do with the coding sequence... its much like a program. What they did was compare the dna sequence of Humans to other genomes of other animals.. they also noticed the sequece is not the normal programming code.. this is what they called "junk dna" they then realised that this junk dna contains coding that looks like for a completly different species that is not comparable to any other on earth... its super complex but basically they know which dna is of eartlhy origin and which is not just by looking at the coding sequence..
