The only Dixie Mafia that I have ever heard of had members that are still alive and in their 60's, 70's and maybe 80's. Sheriff Earl Lee was the
closet law enforcement agent to the members. He arrested many of them. Billy Sunday Birt, Bobby Gene Gaddis, Charles David Reed and others are in
prison, dead or missing.
The DM ran throughout Toccoa, Luthersville, Douglas County, Cobb County, Barrow County, Winder, Jackson County, Walton County, Hall County, Wren, etc.
The famous "Marietta Seven" story even brings up the DM. Billy Sunday Birt is credited with 56 murders by Sheriff Earl Lee, but he was only
convicted of 3, including the Reid Fleming Murders in Middle Georgia.
The Real, Old Time DM in fascinating. People did take care of business in the old days, child molesters and rapist could be easily taken care of in
the good ole' days. It was just business and you kept your mouth shut.
