O.k. so I was talking to a Chinese friend of mine just now and when I asked him about the Olympics he said he was warned against going to the closing ceremony. He told me that it was an old college friend who had warned him off. This friend had attended the Chinese University of Hong Kong. (in his words) and from what he told me , the guy sounded scared, and serious. I can not vouch for any of this and am not sure I really care, but immediately I thought about ATS. Any thoughts?

the Olympics went by smoothly with no deaths (as far as I know). Which basically means that all the time travelers and people making predictions are FRAUDS!!

I have just called him back and have him on the phone as I type this. He claims that the college he is talking about is some biological study group.

Thanks for giving them some creativity, Deadline.
It's awful to think some would like to commit an act like that.

hikix: Unfortunately, there was one death. It was posted twice that I know of here on ATS.. here and here.

Truly tragic.

He just said the same thing about spreading a virus. No place better than the birds nest. I just told him that he has got me scared for the first time in a long time. I am sorry I will stop saying him and call him by his name Wen, I of course can not give a family name. Wen is a graduate of the University of California Berkeley.

Any way I just hung up he has to go to work, please post questions and I will try to keep in touch with him by e mail. I can even post his replies to me on line.

Though apparently nothing's happened at the ceremony, what another poster bought up, is truly scary. Imagine a virus, with enough of a delay before symptoms showed, say a week. By then, most people would be back in their own countries, passing it on to everyone around them.

Makes me shiver to imagine it, to be honest.

Wen just e-mailed me saying it was a practical joke. He knows how much I hang out here and thought it would humiliate me.

Truly sorry, I have made an ass of myself here a lot of times but this is a bit embarrassing. Please remove for the love of all that is good.

O.K. one final post. I just got a phone call from Wen. He is in my home town at my parent’s bar. He thought I would be around, however I am in North Dakota U.S. otherwise I would kick him like a judo Referee. He has been monitoring my post here and is in the best of moods (I will kill him).
