What is it about our psyche that makes us seek the strange and unusual?
Experiences?
Affinity?
Depression?
Poisons in our food that manipulate the thyroid gland, throwing off HEALTHY thinking?
Curiousity?

I posted this thread after checking out the avatars on this BOARD
Avatars usually represent the inner ME of a person and some are downright scary, but interesting...

I think we can answer my question above, if you guys offer more information about WHY you chose the avatar you are using.

* I chose mine, b/c I was online, using a face recognition software, on myheritage.com to see what celebrity I look like and the soft recognition software would not accept my photo, telling me to upload a human face.
I thought it was funny, so that's how I chose mine. YOU???

We as humans are seekers of knowledge.. Well at least some of us. The drive to learn all aspects of reality and esoteric knowledge. Knowledge is power..

The Avatar thing.. I picked Jack O'neill from Stargate SG-1

Because he was my favorite character and the picture was cool.

I love Stargate. I hope more people work on developing OBE abilities so they can experience other travel, besides airplanes.
The THOUGHT of Stargate is fabulous. I love going back to Egypt and it was well done visually, even though TV was not that great at the time.
Thanks for the post, hope more people offer a few words about their avatars!

I don't know WHO wouldn't love a cute little dog. To put him into a hot dog suit...hm...I'm still trying to figure out what that says about you...it's different that putting antlers on his head. I think. But damn, he is adorable. I assume he is yours and he suffers so each Haloween?

I hope more people share WHY you chose your avatar. It's interesting.

I think we are all so interested in stuff like that is because man is part spirit and part flesh ..which would certainly make us interested in things outside of our own world..and what we can see feel hear and touch ...........we are accutely aware that there is more to everything than just us as people wandering along this planet not doing much of anything actually but existing lol .............

So what does no avatar say about a person >? lol
I dont care about having one at all .......

I was kind of hoping that people would describ their avatar as in why they chose it and the answer would REVEAL itself, why we are the way we are and why we seek the unusual.
It is interesting you have no AVATAR and you chose to ANSWER the question.

Certainly. As we grow we discover ourselves and the world around us and as this happens most of us begin to realise that there is something more then just the reality around us. Maybe it is meant that way to make us search for the truth, and more importantly the truth about ourselves, as knowing ones self is very important as this will help you to understand others better.

I chose my avatar to express my confrontational view of the order of this world.

If we are co-creators, etc. - then it is inherent within our very nature to be that way.
Again, life is about experience and to be played with. Its a game, a play...
"nothing real can be threatened...nothing fake can exist." - rough paraphrase from Eckhart.

Point is, life is about its enjoyment and experiencing it to its fullest.
Exploration, etc. So again, its just in our nature to be into this stuff...and for some, its their role in life not to be interested.

Peace

I've always loved dragons. My favorites are dragons as depicted in the Pern series of books and in the Elvenbane series. Intelligent, wise, powerful, beautiful, and magical. My alterego in a couple of IRC chat rooms and one role-playing site was always a dragon.

I wish I could be a dragon .. what's not to love about being able to fly, and to eat pretty much anything that annoys you?

"Meddle not in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup."

my normal avatar for forums would be a picture of me as a furry (please keep the insults to yourself)
why i do this is mainly because it is the internet representation of me
why it is the internet representation of me is that i have traits that are similar to those of cats and i really like cats.
similar interests are
Curiousity
Playfull at times
When annoyed i can lash out quite harshly
Quick thinker (even though you dont really notice it they are quick thinkers)

what that spiritually has to do with me. no idea maybe its because i feel connected to cats and usually get along with them (even the shy and mean specimen) and im also active on other spiritual planes like spirits and such. i found out cats can see those as well because when my grandfather is around they stare at him

I chose mine for obvious reasons. The user name defines the avatar, the user name has been the best description of good for evil ,lies for truth iv'e ever seen applied to paper. It represents what we all openly fear but what most secretly hope for, the beginning of the end and the end of the beginning,in short the walking man.
