Saakashvili was unable to answer CNN in new interview when he was asked :

...after Saakashvili accuses the Russians of 'ethnic cleansing' in Tskinvali

CNN Reporter: (interrupting) "Mr. President are you denying that Georgian forces used artillery and tanks to shell Tskinvali?"

Saakashvili: (slackjawed, deer-in-headlights pause) "Georgian troops responded to the fire from Tskinvalli and from the Russian border..."

CNN: "Fine, responding, Mr. President I'm not worried about whether it was a response, I'm wondering whether they fired INTO Tskinvali, they did didn't they?"

Saakashvili: "They... They fired only at the positions. That was my strict instructions. They... (picks up highlighter and starts gesturing) they have a right to respond"... (starts ranting)

Saakashvili was unable to answer

Well that just goes to show how differently people perceive things. I thought his answer was coherent, pointed and logical. Yes, he paused here and there, but I'd like to see how you would perform live on CNN with your country at war with and occupied by Russian forces. In a foreign language; let's say Georgian...

What he said further into the 10-minute interview about how Russian forces have been massing on the border over the last year, and how he has been highlighting the issue with foreign governments, is more than rhetoric. In recent days several sources have mentioned this as salient while analyzing who is to blame for this flare-up.

If anything, by bringing this video to people's attention you have weakened your case.

For your information it is ONLY America that is receiving this war as a Russian aggression - USA and the UK - usual suspects. The rest of Europe, in fact the world, has told USA UK to shove it because the facts are facts and everyone knows what happened.

The US has been attempting to encircle the former soviet union for years with bases - the demise of the USSR has been a crushing blow to the US as it no longer has an enemy to identify itself through (this is simple theory if you read) - the UA have been funding, training and urging the georgians to strike at the Russians - unfortunately these states never learn, and he was STUPID enough to beleive the Americans and attacked, ruthlessly, the South Ossetians.

The fact is etched in stone, in hard undeniable facts that the Georgian military attacked and massacred innocent people in a blatant attempt to provoke Russia - it worked.

Trying to now blame the Russians for this disgusting provocation of war is almost as despicable- the fact that the american people are again just swallowing whatever they are told only goes to confirm the unending depths of stupidity that your people will fall to.

For your information Russia has bases on its border, American bases, on its border right through this entire region as a deliberate and provocative act - why the FK should they not have military on their border ???

America has invaded unilaterally many sovereign countries - from Panama to Haiti - completely unprovoked - utterly and mercilessly massacring the people of these nations - profound and deeply disturbing acts.

The US and its people have absolutely no legitimacy on the world stage, politically and definitely morally - and certainly far less than Russia does.

You support puerile regimes all around the world, have promoted fascism, despotism and the most heinous oppressors from Pinochet to Hutu massacres. YOUR GOVERNMENT engages in the most offensive undermining of democracies on an annual basis in its puruit of wealth and power on a scale never seen - a display of un relenting callousness for humanity rarely witnessed in all of humanity -

You opinions on democracy, freedom, humanity, ethics and morality ar well and truly last in line of deserved airing - if - they the only reason to be aired at all is to pay tribute to the rights of all -

You country is a blinding disgrace and you should do the honourable thing and at least KNOW about your countries crimes.

Er hi. Nice to meet you.

For your information it is ONLY America that is receiving this war as a Russian aggression - USA and the UK - usual suspects. The rest of Europe, in fact the world, has told USA UK to shove it because the facts are facts and everyone knows what happened.

That's a very persuasive argument you have there.

The fact is etched in stone, in hard undeniable facts that the Georgian military attacked and massacred innocent people in a blatant attempt to provoke Russia

I see - it's a fact etched in stone. Sorry, I thought it was one possible interpretation.

Trying to now blame the Russians for this disgusting provocation of war is almost as despicable- the fact that the american people are again just swallowing whatever they are told only goes to confirm the unending depths of stupidity that your people will fall to.

Oh right - I thought I'd spent hours listening to TV broadcasts in Russian as well as English for days on end, and used my knowledge of the region's history and geopolitical status to form my own opinion. Sorry, I must have just forgotten the reality: that I swallow whatever I am told.

For your information Russia has bases on its border, American bases, on its border right through this entire region as a deliberate and provocative act - why the ** should they not have military on their border ???

Yeah, I was confused. I thought Abkhazia was part of Georgia, with separatists who had been engaging in military action against their government, with the result that Russia had been given the OK by the UN to maintain a small presence as a peacekeeping force. I must have got confused and assumed that a build-up of scores of tanks and artillery wasn't part of the peacekeeping programme.

America has invaded unilaterally many sovereign countries - from Panama to Haiti - completely unprovoked - utterly and mercilessly massacring the people of these nations - profound and deeply disturbing acts.

I can see that that proves that Russian peacekeepers did not act as agents provocateurs.

You country is a blinding disgrace

I have enjoyed this intelligent conversation with you.

Sadly, it seems more and more lately that the US usually stands alone on the issues while the UK just follows our lead.

It's like the saying: "It's not me whose crazy, it's everyone else." That's how America has become. We're always the just ones while anyone who doesn't agree is a tyrannical state. Like George Bush said, "You're either with us or against us"

I'm actually amazed that CNN even turned the tables on Saakasvili. I've barely heard one utterance of how this whole thing really started. Yes, I know this has been brewing for awhile but Russia ultimately would have left Georgia alone if it weren't for the fact that Georgia opened fire on what Russia and the South Ossetians see to be Russian citizens before Russia even thought of invading. What is also being ignored is the fact the the S. Ossetians, caught in the middle of all this, see Russia as it's savior.

Hehe, this is 5 star comedy.

"Russians were evacuating civilians from South Ossetia to prepare for their invasion".

Of course, it had nothing to do with the fact that the Georgian military was destroying Tskinvali and other South Ossetian towns.
