Sick of all the idiots on ATS

I'm not talking about the people who you disagree with, im talking about the obvious troll's that are routinly making it to the front page!

Just right now I read a post with 157 reply's about a Religious fella who couldn't understand and didnt accept any explanations about how rockets work in space, he claimed that because he couldn't understand it that god must be the creator!

It's this kind of stuff that really pisses me off, he is entitled to his point of view but so am I and my point of view is that this stupidity should be stamped out, it does not do any good!

So to any ops that read this please do not allow such tripe to the front page as it only encourages like minded dolts to post the same dribble.

Its seems that threads like this are occuring more often than not recently on ATS. The quality of this place appears to be taking a downward slide lately and for qualities sake, I hope it doesnt continue.

Anyway, we do tend to feed the trolls, so my advice is to steer clear of such threads or spend some time on BTS

Who is a reputable person that is routinly on the front page? maybe we could get them to post a topic along the same lines as this one and hopefully it will get to the top to make people listen.

Been there done that. Then when they bring you to the boiling point you say something you wish you could retract. By that time your 1k points shorter. I do not get into those matches any more. There are tons of great people here. Dimensional detective, always a must read. You learn along the way.

I am seriously considering not writing anymore threads after the accusations, insults and immaturity on my last thread. I swear some people just joined to cause trouble or post pointless threads to bait others into arguing with them

I skipped that thread because it seemed odd to have so many replies to such a dead-simple question.

I like a good logical argument, but not with the true blue flat earth types.

I think the best thing for everyone to do is to ignore threads that are of no interest to them, and only view the threads that you are interested in.

It seems so many people are simply here to call people stupid because they believe in a certain topic, while it is obvious that they have no interest in that topic themselves whatsoever. And the worst bit is that they tend to repeat themselves over and over, because the people who are interested in that particular thread are not listening to them.

This coin has two sides, in my opinion. When someone comes to the forum and post what you think (or even know) is not true or misunderstood, that person is not ALWAYS a troll. The member isn't necessarily more stupid than you. The member may just not know enough about a subject to draw the right conclusions.
Perhaps you should view an "ignorant" post as an opportunity to enlighten the OP if you have information and knowledge that is relevant. In that way you are actually doing something very useful - you are denying ignorance. And that is what ATS is all about, isn't it?

But sadly, many threads end up like battlefields with personal and bitter attacks in stead of a place where people can discuss and learn. This little animation reminds me of a lot of the threads I have followed.

Is there anyone here or anywhere on the net who hasn't fallen for this or at least reacted too harshly? I am a quite honest person and can admit just last night I overreacted to a post by a member here. I would have to agree that the best move is to watch your own tone and most importantly stay out of areas that don't interest you. Too often, as you posted, threads turn into battles. In reality the chances of anyone changing the opinion of another is slim to none thought I admit that I myself have found myself questioning my own views in light of this site.

However I can understand you frustration. It is 'sometimes' clear that someone is just looking to incite.

All of us, every single member, came here with questions and theories and ideas, and most of us didn't know if were were right or wrong or sideways but we just wanted to be able to gain some insight and talk to others who felt the same way.
The PROBLEM is not always those who you suspect to be trolls. The problem is occasionally, how we as members chose to attack instead of enlighten. Yes, it can be tiresome. Yes, I'm guilty of jumping over a thread that has info, or youtube links I've seen a dozen times. All that is required is to point out the Google search function for the site, and let them read away.
As a new member, would you want to be attacked? Would it make you want to stay?
Very unrealistic to think we all share the same info and views on everything.
Either participate in the thread courteously, or just leave it alone.
It's really that simple.

Yeah, I posted there initially because I thought the guy was possibly very ignorant. But he was a troll and it was a waste of time.

I posted there thinking at first that he was really asking a question that made sense and he was looking for input. But he was just being stupid.

It is one thing to ask about conspiracies... it is another thing to be obnoxious. Unless he is mentall ill... or as one poster suggested, that he dropped out of kindergarten

i agree with you Ziggy, sometimes one just cant believe all the crap some users post, specially the name calling, and the posters that think they know everything...

I believe we all come to this site for a reason, sadly some of them come here to throw crap and behave like arses...

and then there are the posters with either disinfo agendas, or just very naive...
