Its no surprise. After all one of McBush's handlers is a Lobbyist for Georgia.

Yes, it is no surprise that he is being so vocal about this issue when you take into account that he has been given $800,000 by the President of Georgia.

latimesblogs.latimes.com...

The issue this time is advisor Randy Scheunemann and his business partner, who apparently lobbied McCain or his staff dozens of times on behalf of -- and getting paid by -- Georgia. As the Associated Press summed it up: "On April 17, a month and a half after Scheunemann stopped working for Georgia, his partner signed a $200,000 agreement with the Georgian government. The deal added to an arrangement that brought in more than $800,000 to the two-man firm from 2004 to mid-2007.

Here is an article in the WSJ that might explain his passionate rhetoric.

Apparently McCain's top Foriegn Policy Advisor is a Lobbyist who makes his living petitioning Washington to get involved in conflicts on behalf of his clients.

McCain Adviser Was Lobbyist for Georgia
By MARY JACOBY
August 11, 2008; Page A5

John McCain's top foreign-policy adviser, Randy Scheunemann, is a leading expert on U.S.-allied Georgia -- and was a paid lobbyist for the former Soviet republic (Georgia) until March, in the run-up to what has become a major battle between Georgia and Russia.

Mr. Scheunemann's firm, Orion Strategies, continues to represent Georgia in Washington, and signed a new $200,000 contract with the country in April. Mr. Scheunemann remains an owner of the firm, though he is no longer registered to lobby for it. Mr. Scheunemann said he has made more than a dozen trips to Georgia since he began lobbying for the country in 2004.

The crisis puts a spotlight on Mr. Scheunemann, 48 years old, who has long been a leading neoconservative voice in the American foreign-policy debate. He played a prominent role advocating for toppling Saddam Hussein, serving in 2002 as executive director of the Committee for the Liberation of Iraq.

I guess we Americans very soon need to start collecting money to start buying our own politicians back from foreign hands.

McCain is a true american and will fight off commies anywhere. That is why people love him because he wont turn his back on a muslim or a commie. His ability to articulate his thoughts is why america is able to retain its glory without losing itself to chaos like the terrorists want. I for one dont want to wake up living under a red banner so I am voting for a winner to save our future generations from losing their souls to godless muslims or communists. Not to mention I know it doest have to be said but Obama wants to allow mexicans in the USA, while McCain is a supporter of american traditions by keeping foreigners from destroying our ways of life.

GOTTA KEEP THEM FARNERS OUTTA MY COUNTREE!!!

This is ultra-xenophobic, borderline retarded. I don't like McCain, but maybe that's because I'm not afraid of Muslims. Nor do I believe McCarthy. It's not the USSR anymore, friend. If you're so concerned about Muslims and communists, you should stop buying oil (middle east) and stop buying anything made in China (good luck).

Oh, also; pretty sure Muslims believe in God.

Wait. Wasn't Kuwait a country? With its own borders?

South Ossetia (note: this is how you spell Ossetia) is within Georgia, within Georgia's internationally recognized territory. It's basically a civil war.

Then Russia decided to cross its borders into Georgian internationally recognized territory, to side with the South Ossetian rebels and attack the Georgian military.

I'm not judging what sides are right or wrong, but get your facts straight.

First off,

I disagree with any type of military intervention by the united states.

Other than military action- i say you do whatever you can to help the Georgians.

I agree with the intervention bit. But for doing whatever else, I'd be wary - we got into World War I and partially World War II because we were smuggling arms. We have to be careful. But regardless, I agree.

You're a bigot and an ignoramus. Bigot, because of your comments about Muslims. Ignoramus, because you call Russia (implicitly) Communist. Your entire post makes me really not like you right now.

Georgia spoke out right that they wanted that land. and they tryed to take it by striking first its fact its in all the articles

But South Ossetia is part of Georgia. The Republic of South Ossetia is a rebel organization within Georgia's internationally recognized borders.

Maybe he should can the rhetoric and stick to the facts. The Georgians started this.

By putting down a rebellion within their own internationally recognized borders? That's an interesting way to look at "starting it."

What I said came out wrong by no means do I think all of russia is communist. My intention was to point to the cold war hysteria that is fathomed up and revisited when these kinds of issues are confronted. Being a part of foreign policy McCain is essentially hoping to rekindle those passions to increase his standing in the arena of national security.

Interesting article about the lobbyist I saw some of this on FOX so it is real. One thing it brings to mind sadly is how money can and does buy power. THough the price of the power is that as many posters stated it seems as if one person speaks for everyone which is not true. At the same time I see alot of negative talk about this man. Is it so bad that Georgia has a lobbyist? Their not a big country and never in th news until now so I doubt they get any attention and unfortunately they have to buy it. From the story I think that is the worst part is not that he is lobbying but the simple fact someone even has to lobby for a country that politicians dont care about unless their getting money.

I am making an effort to be more civil on these boards so please don't take offense, but this made me laugh out loud.

In fairness I try to be skeptical with most TV news, but FOX? Really? That's when you throw up your arms and say "well then it must be real! I saw it on FOX News!" I cited the article from the Wall Street Journal but FOX News is why you believe it?

I'm not a Georgian in any way, shape or form or thought. I'm American and this conflict information is a drip in the sink. We really have no idea what is going on and who fired the first shot and we need to keep our nose out of it.

I'm sick and tired of this Big Bro ego to the world. You happen notice the rest of Europe isn't saying squat. Mmmm wonder why?
Russia like China, when someone steps out of line they get stomped on. They don't take sh** from any group.

The government here has NO respectably to most of the world nations. We don't take care of our own.

I think the old white dude is entitled to say what he wants to say. Doesn't mean that we all have to believe that we are Georgian and that we agree with what is going on there.

It is propaganda as some have pointed out, but propaganda is a fact of life in this world as we know it. Propaganda spewed doesn't have to be propaganda bought.

Getting upset at the old man and his agenda filled messages isn't going to solve anything for you and is most likely one of the specific reactions that statement was meant to bring about, along with the compliant reaction and the confused reaction.

Best thing anyone can do at this point is to remain apathetic of the emotions they are trying to rise out of each of us and to focus our emotions on those in our lives that we trust and care about.

You wonder why so many people around the world Hate the united states?

its because some of us blindly follow our leaders and claim it to be the will of God. Isnt that what you guys blame "muslim terrorist" of doing?

I liked the speech, he seemed to speak with compassion yet resolve. I agree with his speech and alot of what he said. I am no puppet or koolaid drinker either.

I am Iranian and have served in the US Marines before attending university.

The governments in that region of the world Russia and ME only understand one thing at that is force. Anything else is considered weak which leads them to walk all over us here in the US and Europe.

For those of you that oppose force to resolve a situation like this and would have the US disarmed if possible will be the first to go...

You anti-war people remind of the people from the movie Independence Day where all the people were waiting on the roof tops to greet the aliens with sign...then wooops the aliens destroy everything...

Anyway...keep it up and my fathers culture will be coming for you in the future...!
