U.S. refuses Israel weapons to attack Iran

www.reuters.com

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The United States has turned down Israeli requests for military hardware to help it prepare for a possible attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, a frontpage report in Israel's Haaretz newspaper said on Wednesday.

The unsourced report said the Americans had warned Israel against carrying out any such attack and had refused to supply offensive military hardware. Instead they had offered to improve the Jewish state's defenses against surface-to-surface missiles.

I haven't seen any other threads about this, but I found this just now on Reuters.
It kind of surprised me that we are finally not bending over backwards to comply with a request for weapons from Isreal.
I am glad to see we wont be supplying them any weapons, and that we will only be helping them defensively.

At least someone in the Admin has a smidgen of brains. i have no issue at all with defensive weapons etc. In fact the Army will field its first THAAD battery in 2010 So im sure the IAF will be getting that to provide top cover above and beyond the Arrows capabilites

I agree 100%
I was really surprised to see this info since we usually seem to comply with damn near all requests from Israel. I wonder if this will mean we wont be receiving the $100.000.000 per day from them now to boost the dollar...lol

Umm didn't we send 3 Carrier groups Iran's way?
I'm sorry but I can't see this as hopeful news considering the situation...I would say the US simply wants to do it themselves.

The Iranians would not have any qualms about hitting back...hmm. Sinister indeed.

Well good. Israel would simply attack Iran as soon as they had the hardware anyways.
They want a war, lets refuse them from having one.

I applaud US for this action. A country that uses weapons for defense is a plus in my book, but any country that uses weapons for offensive means and preemptive strikes are a danger to this world.

It's about time. Finally, the puppet strings are getting cut. Let them 'buy' enough of our tricked out missile systems to counter the shahabs.

Great catch, Stealth.

I like the fact that it seems like we are finally say no to Israel for a change.

But the fact that a massive naval armada is almost there still concerns me.
Why have all of that fire power in the first place? My thoughts are that we are going to get Iran together and this news of not selling them weapons is just calming the critics.

I my opinion, a storm is coming as soon as the assests are in place.

Next question..what are the Russians going to do?
