Iraq Contracts Have Cost Taxpayers At Least $85 Billion Since Invasion

www.huffingtonpost.com

WASHINGTON — Military contracts in the Iraq theater have cost taxpayers at least $85 billion, and when it comes to providing security, they might not be any cheaper than using military personnel, according to a report released Tuesday.

The Congressional Budget Office report comes on the heels of increased scrutiny of contractors in the last year, some of whom have been investigated in connection with shooting deaths of Iraqis and the accidental electrocutions of U.S. troops.

Many have been upset about the entire contractor scheme that this administration chose to adopt for this war. Now it seems that we are going to see that the rational behind it, cost efficiency, does not pan out.

My personal take on this is that it is simply one of the best examples of how Bush made decisions that best served what he likes to refer to as "my base" (ie Big Business).

Many would also say this is a good thing, pumping billions into US corporations is going to "trickle down"
and benefit American at large. Based on the poor condition of the economy at the moment that oner is hard ot buy as well.

Bottom line, Bush sold us out and not necessarily to the highest bidder either.
