"All flesh shall see the salvation of God." Luke 3:6

We are living in scary times. People have fears in their heart of the impending year of 2012, asteroids, war, disease, economic collapse, et cetera. Yet, those who know fear not.

People need to keep in mind that everything happens in accordance with the plan. There is nothing that doesn't have purpose and reason. There are both spiritual and physical forces which ensure the wel being of mother earth and its inhabitants. To fear is ignorance. To accept is a by- product of knowledge.

"Codependence causes us to have a distorted and repressed emotional process, and the only way out is through the feelings. Codependence gives us a scrambled mind, a reversed dysfunctional way of looking at ourselves and the world, and we have to be able to use the wonderful tool that is our mind while changing our attitudes and reprogramming our thinking.
Cosmic

There is much truth in this statement. We are codependent on religion to show us truth. Yet, no TRUTH will be found without effort. Sure, we can accept the pre-boxed explanations of organized religion, but why? To feel more emptiness?

People search for truth and meaning, but here is the real truth of your present situation:

"Everything is unfolding perfectly from a Cosmic Perspective! There are no accidents, no coincidences, no mistakes! You are perfectly where you are supposed to be on your Path. You always have been and always will be!
Where you are

If one cannot accept this simple principle, then there isreally nothing anyone can say or do to help one.

Spiritual entities have both power and influence over what has and is occurring on earth even at this frightening time. We all need to understand though, when it has all been said and done there will be no excuses. Ignorance will not be a substitue for knowledge in the world to come.

When, for instance, the enlightened person says that people talk of elemental beings and call them Sylphs, Lemures, but that such things do not exist — then you must reply that he does not see these things because he has not troubled to develop the organs of cognition which would enable him to recognize them.
Spiritual helpers

I said on another occasion that we should not be concerned with the question: Whence come all the beings of which we have spoken? Wherever the opportunity is given for definite beings, then they are always there. If a person sends out wrong, evil feelings, these live around him and attract beings which are there waiting, just as some physical being waits for food. I once compared this with the fact that there are no flies in a clean room; if there are all sorts of food-remains in the room, then there are flies. So it is with the supersensible beings: one need only provide them with the means of nourishment.
Doesn't matter

It matters not whether these beings are natural or of "alien" orientation. All that matters is the message that they try to present to man. If that message is contrary to the message of man, both spiritually and politically, then one can deduct that it is of good intention. For the notions of man leads to destruction and strife.

In the end, man must face the truth no matter how hard that may be. When one looks at the world today, it is obvious that the modern "traditional" way is not going to cut it. The old system is dying and the new one is coming into light. God bless those who know.

Along similar lines is one of my favorite sayings for times of great distress, "Do not get flustered, do not worry. For the last (38) years, when things looked wrong they ended up working out, one way or another. EVERY TIME, everything has worked out. I have no reason to believe the situation at hand won't also work out. Remember, EVERY TIME!"
Man's ways are not the evil, destructive, foolishness we see. That is man after being misled. When born we are beautiful innocence. For the first little while, you can see the good intent of humans. The example i'm thinking of is my son, all he wants to do with anything he gets is to give it away. It's so wonderful to watch. I just hope his parents and society can manage to maintain what is so clearly good today.
However, as you said, and I agree, you really can't help but do the right thing. Because ultimately for one reason or another, we have to do everything just as we do. And no, I'm not denying freedom of choice. ...And yes, that does appear to be a contradiction.
But it's not.

Well, the whole freedom of choice or "free will" issue is something that I have discussed many times. Honestly, I'm not entirely convinced of the existence of "free will." It sems to me that there is a program, if you will, which almost dictates the actions of individuals.

One of the things that I find odd about the whole idea of "free will" is that we rarely do what we really want to do. We do things which circumstance dictates. I don't know about you, but in my opinin that is not "free will" as I would define it.

To me, we act in a manner that we feel forced to act in. "Free will," in my opinion, is the ability to do what we really want to do. We don't have that. That is the main reason I question the validity of the idea of "free will."

Well, there is certainly a distance between the god of the OT and the God that Jesus Christ spoke of, true. You can't tell most "christians" that, but it's really obvious to the objective mind.

I tend to believe that some people that don't believe in an afterlife may disagree with you about everything being fine and working out.
Those of use who accept God now and believe that we will be rewarded for our belief know that sooner or later things will work out fine. We are able to rest assured that God is in control. We experience the freedom of being unburdened regardless of what happens.
However, those that don't accept God now may not experience that same sense of peace and freedom ever.

Well, that is their choice and right to disagree, I suppose. However, they are really just setting themselves up for unnecessary worry in my opinion. *SHRUG*

I also tend to believe that there are Spiritual beings. Our only purpose in this life is to choose which Spiritual being to empower in this realm. Our decision or act of free will of choosing which Spirit to empower determines our eternity.

BTW, your thoughts are inspiring. I look forward to perusing the Anthroposophical Society in America. I am particularly interested in proving the existence of the soul from a psychological approach. I tend to believe that western psychology is biased since most scientists deny spiritualiy as an integral part of human nature. Thank you for the links.

The free will you are speaking of, was given to all souls, by the creator, to allow those souls to grow and evolve spiritualy, in any way they choose, it is up to each soul, and no one else. We may choose to learn from evil acts or the good acts that are around us. This is the balance effect or the ying and the yang. It is a balance of 50 50. What we see today that is happening around us in this world, the wars, the hate, the crimes towards humanity, is our own way of opening our spiritual eyes. It forces us to search for answers to these problems, and when we find that our babysitters (government) has no answers, but only find that they only add to the problems, we then are forced to search in other areas for the answers. It is only when we run out of the physical search options, do we then look in the correct place for the answers, and that is within ourselves. The answers are within all of us, and when we find the answers, the soul grows or progresses back towards that which created us, our creator.

Yes, it may seem that the balance has tipped towards the evil side, but it hasn`t. There are sufficient numbers of those who can see good around us in the world at this time. One may look at the evil around us in this light, and say it does no good, it is bad for us. But is it really? We have become stagnant in out spiritual growth, with all of the physical technologies and pleasures we have in our hands. When this occures, forces are created, if not from within ourselves, but from something that is much greater then us (think about that one). We create evil ourselves, nothing else does. We create it with our own minds.

Look back in our own history, and the bible is a good place to look. When Jesus walked among us, he was trying to teach those that would listen, who and what we truly are inside. It was because of spiritual stagnation that he was sent into the Earth to awaken us. It was the divine plan. Did he not try to teach us that "What I do, they will do even greater."? In other words, we, yes, I mean us, after growing spiritually, will be able to do what he did, only in a bigger way. One of the greatest lessons he tried to teach, was to not to fear the physical death. But, to teach us that, he must show all of us in a way we would understand, by physically dying himself. Now comes what many think is the evil plot, the betrayal of Jesus by Judas. Remember one thing now, for the divine plan to work, all must fall into place as it should, even his betrayal. For the plan to work one must step forward and do the betraying. Now one may think, how could someone do this, it`s evil? Remember what I said about balance earlier? We need both to help us grow spiritually.

In the case of Judas, remember how it was told of his love for Jesus? Yes, he did love him, and it was this love for him that made him betray his master, so that the divine plan would work. Now think about that for a moment. How could the creator condemn someone for helping to make the plan work? It was only by free will that Judas stepped forward to help the plan work. In other words, he was not afraid to take the heat for what he did. Heat? Another word for hate. And look at the hate that we have given him over the years. What does our hating someone else tell of us? That we are no different or better then anyone else, and to hate, one must step down a notch in our growth to show this hate.

I understand that many will not believe this, and for that, I must say, it is your free will to do so. That is why for myself, I am not afraid of what is happening around me in this world, because it is a time for a spiritual awakening in all of us. That is why things are occuring as they are, it is to shake us awake from our slumber, to put us back on the road to spiritual growth as it should be. We are on that path to be with our creator, we are on our journey home.

I hope that this explains in a small way, what free will is all about, and how we have used free will from the beginning of our existance. Free will is not a bad thing, it`s not just evil, and it`s not just good, but a balance of both, to be used in what ever way we choose. For when we take away ones free will, we stop their spiritual growth, we stop their chance of becoming one with our creator, and that my friend, is the ultimate sin.

thought provoking...so if our souls do not progress then we will be cut off from our creator. If we are not for Him then we are against Him. Afterall, why would God want to be with us for eternity if we spend this entire life denying and defying him. I suppose it wouldn't be heaven if it was full of rebels and animosity. God only wants those that want to be with Him.

shouldn't this be in the psychology, philosophy, metaphysics board?

Well, this goes along with the topic, and free will was discussed in some of the threads.

If just one of us cuts himself/herself off, it is of their own doing, no one else. Understand, the creator wants all of us to come home, not just those who open up right now, but those who open up down the road so to speak. When the soul reaches rock bottom in it`s despair and loneliness, and can find no answer outside, then it looks inside. When this is done, it`s as if a whole new world opens up, and that`s where the soul goes from there, is up.

Starred. I like this thread. About time we took a break from the doom and gloom. Its rather refreshing. I believe if we all act in unison toward a goal we can fix most of the worlds problems in a day. Seriously. What are we waiting for?

Speaker I love your positive outlook and all and I admire your belief in your convictions.

But honestly I just don't believe it.

Maybe I am doomed for saying so, but if there IS a God and this whole awful mess is part of his divine plan, then my reasoning leads me to believe that our creator is neither loving nor omnipotent.

I would give anything to have the comfort and self assurance that you display, I would love to be able to sleep at night knowing that in the end everything is going to be just fine.

Unfortuantely everything else out here points me to the fact that it just isnt so.

Good thread...star and a flag from me.

I enjoy discussing philosophy and spirituality but I question some of Rudolf Steiner's statements about spiritual beings in the links. He seems to say that some spiritual beings are connected to various planets which I believe is misleading. People may be persuaded to worship the planets and stars and connected spirits. Worshipping evil spirits is bad though.
Furthermore, I don't believe that we need to be concerned about where the spirits are physically located. I believe that it is more important for us to concentrate on how and why the spirits interact with us.

Steiner seems to take an extroverted approach to studying spirituality.
I tend to agree more with FiatLux in that we need to take an introverted approach to spirituality:

When the soul reaches rock bottom in it`s despair and loneliness, and can find no answer outside, then it looks inside. When this is done, it`s as if a whole new world opens up, and that`s where the soul goes from there, is up.

I am under the persuasion that God, angels, Satan, and demons exist. Demons may include what Steiner calls "Sylphs, Lemures." Whether you know it or not, these spiritual beings interact and influence us. I just wish that western psychology would accept the reality of spiritual beings and their influence on our mental health. These beings try to influence us to use our free will to further their agendas. I have always thought that The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis may be a reality.

I have an article that I would like to share but I'm not sure how to attach documents?

The article suggests a spiritual approach to psychology. Information is presented in the article that seems to indicate that a lot of people struggle with their concept of God. Some people tend to believe that illnesses or other calamities that occur in life are punishment or retribution sent by God. Others don't believe in God or they otherwise have difficulty understanding God and their relationship to him. Apparently, spiritual and religious beliefs can be fundamental in establishing a person's identity and purpose. Confusion in these fundamental beliefs can often cause symptoms of anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, and even psychosis. The authors of the article suggest that resolving spiritual confusion has been shown to improve or at least stabilize psychopathology. I tend to believe that if we are going to make a science out of spirituality in order to heal the world then this is the direction that we need to take it. We need to study our relationship with the spiritual world starting from the inside out. What or where the spiritual world is located is irrelevant in this lifetime. We will all know where the spiritual world is when we die.

One thing we must understand about evil spirits and demons are, these are forces that we as higher beings have created with our own thoughts, for thoughts are things, it is a part of creation. They are manifested into being by our own thought patterns. We have given them a life of their own by doing this. They are a living manifestation born from the evil in our collective thoughts.

It is sad that many do struggle with their concept of God. Who is he, where does he fit into my life and so on. If people were to just stop thinking in the terms of God as being this person who sits on a throne and gives judgement over us, and punishes us at every turn, and understand, we are the ones who are judging ourselves, not God, they would soon lower the stress in their lives. We are all a part of God, and that is the spiritual awakening that is to come within all of us,

Great post!!! I agree almost 100%. I do have questions about free will, but that aside, I pretty mush see eye to eye. The same can be said about the "anti-Christ," really. Will he be a bad person? Probably, but he has a role to play in the plan of God and he will do it.

If God were to lose one single soul, he'd lose a part of himself. That's not going to happen.
