I really think this is going the wrong direction.
A concert will do nothing more than bandaid or farmaid did. Thats all those events really were was bandaids on the problem. People did not show up and become active on the issues they showed up and listened to music then went home and stuffed their faces and forgot about the starving people.

Not to mention the fact that most of the celebrities you might find interested in this topic are NOT singers. Sure Robbie could be a one man show I suppose.. but I thought you were trying to accomplish something bigger here, I thought this was about something more not just more Robbie worship.

If you want to do something real you have to be all encompassing and that means not something as limiting as a concert.

Perhaps something like a huge symposium with celebrities presenting the footage and anouncing the speakers as well as sharing their own sightings and experiences to the audience.

Something like that may have more of a real impact as by the time they are done they will not have just heard a song, but they will have heard personal stories that they can take to heart.

Just my 2 cents.

How about a Robbie version of "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft" by The Carpenters? lol

Firstly, it's probably pertinent to remember that at this stage, there have been no "decisions" made about anything, as all this is right now is a discussion of an idea...that idea just being the initial vision, which is not written in stone but subject to change and new ideas. No-one here has the power to organize it and if it happens, the organizers will ultimately decide how to go about it, not people on ATS

Second, if you'd read through everything thoroughly , you'd know that the intention is not for it to be "just " be a concert but would include a proper ufo conference . The idea of celebrities introducing the guests is a great idea. Do you think they should have NO music at all ? I wasn't clear on that score after reading your post

Third, someone else mentioned the band aid/live aid thing not achieving very much in terms of people's lives changing /people acting on what they'd heard . I pointed out to that member that you cannot compare a charity concernt to a ufo conference/musical event because , lets be honest, charity issues don't exactly get people's minds excited or curious. The UFO subject is a totally different thing for it captures the imagination. No-one expecting "mass action" from such an event but if 5 million people were watching it and the event was talked about in media across the world, that's a massive amount of publicity for the issue and even if a small % of people went and started researching the issue, it's still alot of people getting their minds opened. Then some those people talk to their friends and on and on the stone goes gathering moss. We've had a shed load of global charity events but not one globally televised UFO event on a comparable scale so there is no point of comparison yet.

lastly, no-one mentioned a Robbie-only show and no-one here on this thread has said anything to suggest "Robbie worship" is going on. Robbie isn't even ready to go on Ross's TV show so I guess the event idea raised in this thread is not something he'd want to be part of either.

The idea is just at the beginning and will morph. Then again it may just die away and perhaps no-one will be interested. Who knows......

Getitng other types of celebs to take part, ie not just musicians, is an idea if the event were to include celebrities introducing speakers as well as some perfomers doing songs....maybe we can brainstorm some names through a google search. Do we know of any others who have been to a UFO conference like Robbie Williams has for example ? Can you think of anyone whose been on TV talking about the subject ?

what about celebrities who are out of the public eye now so may not be so concerned about how doing an event like this would effect their image ?

Hello CosmicPixie,

Now I've read it completely...

It is maybe one good idea... You need organizers and support.. But why not....

Yes and on the subject of "Robbie worship" I used to manage many well known celebrities so to me they are just ordinary people, and I guess with my TV show some would even class me as a bit of a "celebrity", so it's NOT about that.

Rob is just the person who came out from behind the anonymous tag and stated who he was, by his own choice.

As others have said in this thread, it's about creating more awareness of the subject matter, as some 95% of the population still believe UFO's do not exist and that those of us who attend these conferences and post in places like ATS are all "nutters"!

I have spent many years as an investigator of strange phenomena, and whilst 90% of it CAN be rationally and logically explained, the other 10% is what really intrigues me!

I believe by getting those who get large amounts of media attention to help bring some of the better cases to public's attention can only be a good thing!

You know, this is actually a really great idea! If something like this was put together, not only would i go but id definitely volunteer too! I think ill start and flag this, seeing as how it seems to be a well thought out plan.

fair enough it just seemed that the focus weighed heavily on music or concert as the main venue.

Im just saying we have to consider something that would be informative and thought provoking that can involve various public figures not just those with vocal talents. I would still be willing to point a couple of people in this direction if you guys can get something organized, but I will not ask them to participate, as a rule its just something I will not do. I will let them know this is being put together though.

Interesting idea...

Ronnie Montrose and Sammy Hagar, two long successful musicians that still perform today wrote a lot of music about UFO and Space. These song are very popular and people dont realize what they are singing or playing along too. There are many other musicians and artists that also write their beliefs and experiences, but wrap into symbolism and metaphors to dress up a bit.
This could be a really provocative event, bringing together artists and music and the belief we are not alone. Handled correctly could be a very cool festival.

Dont let people break your spirit, by the way. Anything worth doing is difficult and hard and ready to fall apart at every bend. This is the path to success. Most of the ground breaking events we have witnessed
in our lives were never supposed to happen.

Thanks for this - and by all means direct them to me personally if they do not want to come out openly in the forum. ([email protected])

I am UK Director of the largest UFO conference in the world (at least I think it is lol!) - the International UFO Congress in Laughlin Nevada in February of each year, and I would welcome approaches from any celebs who may be willing to attend.

yes, initially I was thinking musical event insterspersed with a few video clips with people talking about their experiences. I was so enthused about the initial concept I didn't really think it all through thoroughly. Then as the hours or days tick by you kind of build upon the original idea, especially with other people's input. I wanted to add a postscript to my original post to update the ideas but the edit facility is nowhere to be seen...

Maybe those people you know could be pointed towards this forum, have a read through the thread to get a full picture of what we've been thrashing about here.

I would also add that if there are any celebrities reading through this thread, how about some feedback on the idea...you could post anonymously while letting us know you are "in the business". It would be good to have your take on things . ....

Yes I will promote this thread to a few people and see what happens. I have also spoken to a few celeb friends today and asked them to talk to their friends too.

Toyah Willcox and Robet Fripp are two more that have an interest in this stuff, but Toyah is away touring at the moment so not been able to chat to her as yet.

Actress Joanna Lumley has had paranormal experiences at a former home, but not sure about whether she is into UFO's.

Singer Nina Hagen was at Roswell recently and is big on UFO's right now.

I'll do a search on the net , see if I can find any leads and also check out a few song ideas that could be put forth.

Just to recap before any more feelers are put about, I was imagining that anything that did take place would be a non-profit thing , ie FREE. Also, that it would take place in big venue - a stadium for example, and be televised live across the globe. So some kind of sponsorship would be required I guess ?

It's a bit frustrating for me because this is my idea and I can't actually "do" much to help.....but if you think there's anything I could do that I haven't thought about, let me know won't you.

Well UFO Congress is not a free event as it costs thousands of dollars to stage, but certainly you could look at other new events as possibilities.

Sponsorship is a good idea, but you need to find companies with Marketing and Managing Directors who are sympathetic to strange phenomena. Not an easy call that one.

what about celebrity donations ? some may be willing to help fund the event if it's a subject they are very much into.
but perhaps charging for the event isn't so bad - if it's something really special then people from all around the world would come too

Perhaps in conjuction with the event, a special website to promote it could be set up to publicise it, talk about it in the "run up" to the actual day, provide a mission statement, advise on how to learn more about the whole UFO phenomena, etc.....that kind of thing.... it would be good to direct people to something like that, a place where they could "find out more" after seeing an ad in the press for example and maybe talk about it all "after".

How would getting it televised work ? Would that have to be paid for too ?

I know some of these questions are pretty pointless right now as it's all just an "idea"....bear with me, I'm just excited

I think getting funding from the celebs is a stretch. Its enough that they donate their time to participate, as a matter of fact many will want to know if they will be able to promote current projects if they attend.

These are things to consider because some people are currently on publicity tours and such.

well its good to see the face behind the name. Kudos for your patience with everyone, you write with a very compassionate intent. and your a cutie too.nice

OK so we're here to brainstorm eh?! this is awesome, i take it you saw the opening olympic ceremony and this is the idea which spawned. talk about an emotional ceremony. i couldnt stop hoping for world peace, i practically cried.

So to set the stage i was thinking having a huge concert near a huge crop circle as a way of saying thank you to the visitors. lettting them know there efforts have not been for nothing. although first you need the farmer who will be willing to lose crops.lol and then getting people to stay out in the field all day..maybe this is a bad approach.

the stadium idea is great. you can have speakers, music of course and maybe even a little stand up comedy which is a psychological tool to help kill the idea that people interested in ufos are "wacky, nutters" etc. its 2008 people to me at least, arent as gullible as they may have been. A comedian would be a great ice breaker to help others who are nervous about taking it seariously come out of their shell. plus they're a cheaper act on stage it think.

the event should easily be more than one day long, think woodstock approach without the naked boobies and drugs. maybe at the after party though. ill volunteer to organize it if need be.KIDDING

the overhead projection should constantly play UFO video and CROP CIRCLE video at all times, unless the speaker needs it for his performance.

on a spiritual side, i would like to mention that i am aware of a few spiritual practitioners who say that have the ability to channel to spirits and cosmic beings, I know you (cosmicpixie) are interested in creating a book about communion with spirits who have commited suicide. so i feel it would be beneficial for someone with the ability to channel to send the message out that we need a "cosmic spirit" to elect another individual to help with this cause. Bringing the "other side" into play is just another avenue we should take advantage of. although im just a regular guy and i have no idea what channeling is like.no experience what so ever. but i have faith that others may be able to.

sorry i dont have the link up at this time, but i would like to mention that there is another thread were the idea of writing letters to congress or the local news paper or news channels is a great way to get the topic on the rise. if each of us sent a letter once a month or twice a month (copy and paste) then we could irritate them into submission or at least cause serious interest in some.

cosmicpixie this is a brilliant idea

as it has been mentioned before some people will just be around for the sake of music, a good show and community - woodstock?

but every little bit helps – so some will get "infected" and will start to spread the word by themselves!
so just lets do it.

let me know anything i can do! i am good in graphics and texting, and can also do flyers, posters what ever you like

even if most of the audiance might just get entertaint they will listen much more willingly. that.s what counts and gets ufology a bigger ear in the world!

if you could send me a U2U with information about the event in nevada i would be interested, i live in sacramento so this would be relatively close to my location. plus i want to be the first 26 year old to attend the most important discussion to hit the earth.

all i have to do now is convince my fiance to put in the over time.

my cousin performs in LA as one of the blues brothers acts for universal studios, i could connect with him and see if he knows some guys who would be willing to get the word out in LA. but im sure this will be hush hush for the most part AT FIRST. hes not famous but im sure hes been in the same room with some pretty established individuals.

Hes performed in grays anatomy as a doctor type figure, and gilmore girls and so and so forth.

i think that some profit should go towards saving the rain forest.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
there was another thread about a how rappers have mentioned ufo sightings as well.

I STRONGLY recommend that we dont exclude HIP HOP from this event. if this is about disclosure and the awerness issue, then i think it would be a great example to have unity among generes of music too as an example of the truth and how far and wide is in within the human populace, what the heck lets get cultural and bring brizilian music and native american. come one come all!

I think the U2U's are still down at the moment but you can find out about the event at www.ufocongress.com... - although the details of next years event may not be up for a few weeks more yet as the speaker list is still under discussion.

It takes place in February on the banks of the Colorado River at Laughlin, on the border of Nevada and Arizona. The Aquarius Resort Casino Hotel is the venue and people all tend to stay at the venue for the week as they have speakers during the day, film screenings and banquets in the evenings etc and a big party on the last night. It's a great event.
