Ok guys, back about a year or two ago, me and a friend of mine (former U.S. Airforce/Governement IT specialist) decided to look around on Google Maps at Sheppard Air Force Base (S.A.F.B.). The reason being is cause I was curious about some of the huge planes and back doors that nobody really knows about. Well we were snooping around and we found this:

Sheppard is home to the B1 Air Crew school, I am going to have a wild guess at the plane mounted in-front of one of the buildings is a B1, same as its a B1 parked out in the limbo yard, where there appears to be an F4 a tanker or cargo 7 series plane, and several C130 some with engines and wings dismounted.

U.S. Air Force Technical Training Command at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, TX. ASI is responsible for maintaining and modifying all the equipment used by the Air Force Aircraft Armament, Munitions, and Special Weapons schools at Sheppard Air Force Base. This includes A-10, F-15, F-16, and B-52 aircraft; a full scale B-1 weapons load trainer

WASHINGTON — Lawmakers are concerned B-1B Lancers aren’t ready to fly missions because of shortages of qualified aircraft maintenance technicians like those trained at Sheppard Air Force Base, as well as of spare parts.

Sheppard trains B-1 maintenance technicians, including crew chiefs and specialists in armaments and avionics, according to the base.

Ah Ha! Yes, that looks very much like it, but do'nt you think it's a little small to be a B1? And why is it camo colored and not grey? Could it be a german model or something?

That's an F-111, isn't it?

At first I was thinking maybe it's a stealth plane like the aurora or something, but we actually were able to identify it as a Lockheed Martin experimental plane (which I don'nht think they ever came out with) that I and he could only refer to as a switchblade/jackknife jet, because the wings flair out when it's going at a lower speed or something like that.
This is not to be confused with the Northrop Switchblade Jet. The one I'm talking about has wings that swing out towards the nose, not the tail.

This is an F-111.

oh yes, it seems that plane is in fact the F-111 mounted on the corner and out on that runway

www.sheppardafb.us...

here is the proof

my bad, but Sheppard still has B-1's hiding there somewhere

F-111

Why would they hide B-1s? The B-1s are based at Dyess AFB in Lubbock and are easily visible.

Actually Germany does fly this plane and paints it camo.

There used to be an operating German squadron at (I believe) Holloman AFB in New Mexico that trained with our guys.

thats kind of irrelevant of a question there, logic says that since the B1 air crew school is there, would probably mean that there is B-1's also there to work on, instruct on etc. Clearly there is a full scale B-1 for weapons loading training...Somewhere on the base.

Yup, you are correct. At least someone here knows something about aircraft recognition.

I gotta say, I've heard some strange stories about the base and I've seen some strange things happening there at night.
Why would there be taped off places? Why is there this experimental jet parked on the runway (which by the way is'nt there anymore)?

Have a feeling the F-111 is not an experimental aircraft. Everything on the planet is not a conspiracy.

Wow, I didn't know I was right about it being German, that was just a wild guess. Also, SAFB has a LOT of foriegn troops that train there, most German.

Apparently these things run on kerosine lol.

Better view.

Sorry CO Vet, but I don't go around memorizing what jets are what, geez man.

Good second pic Jimmy. That's a U.S. Air Force F-111 from RAF Lakenheath, UK. Not all camo painted F-111 are/were German. The one's we had at Pease AFB, NH in the late 80's were painted camo also.

Well I guess Google lied to me, it said it was a german one, I took it's word for it.

Nope. That's the 48th Tactical Fighter Wing Commander's jet. You can tell because it has the wing number instead of the squadron number on the tail, and he has all 4 squadron colors on the tail fin cap:

492d TFS - Blue
493d TFS - Yellow
494th TFS - Red
495th TFS - Green

I wonder why some of the hangers are taped off though? THat strikes me as rather odd.

Was it liked they were sealed-off or was it just taped-off like a crime scene?

Only the U.S.A.F and the Australian Air Force flew/ fly the F-111.
The German Air Force was never equiped with them.

Mostly when we had hangers sealed off was when there was maintenance being performed on the jets and other equipment. They don't want just anyone walking in, especially if there are hazardous conditions present. It's not odd at all.
