Sorry, but your simple logic is very Faulted IMO. Free speech effects others (hurt feelings, etc.) but that doesn't mean the government should butt in & stop the people from openly stating their opinion.

That big, ugly bush my neighbor planted effects my beatiful view, but that doesn't mean the government should force them to remove it.

Seriously, the government has far to much say in our lives already & their track record of decisions IMO is not all that great.

"Well for what it is worth I think there should be mandatory licensing for those wishing to conceive."

The Aryan Super Race is just a fantasy - don't delude yourself.

You are repugnant You are a eugenicist.

The entirety of earth's populations could fit into and area the size of Florida State, if the people would be willing to except the population density equivalent to that of modern Tokyo.

I've been around long enough to watch earth's population grow by almost 4.5 billion people. And even then, there were people spouting the same eugenicists nonsense back in my childhood years, they were called the NSDP and they were from Germany. Some states in America even sterilized people deemed unfit.

We are all still here. The Good Earth will provide.

*And given the level of advancement I've witnessed, it won't be long before we start headng for the stars or Mutually Annihilating each other.

and I totally agree but I'll go you one further. Many kids don't even have a father! They do of course, but they might never even know his name and certainly can't expect him to be a part of their life. I believe every child needs a father who can be Janus to him, stern to teach responsibility, yet kind and caring to teach love. Without this so many kids are just lost. Lots of kids do turn out fine with just a mother, but the odds of that aren't very good.

I agree, it is always better for a child to have two parents, but coming from a single parent household (raised by a single dad) I know from experience even single parents can give their children a well rounded "real life" education at home if they choose to.

Most just seem far to busy with "keeping up with the Jones" to pay much attention. Guess they don't see that the "Jones" are living life on credit & are on the verge of bankruptcy. All the while, their kids get away with bloody murder because the parents have to work 80 hr weeks to pay for that shiney new flat screen tv, the one that will babysit their kids.

If something can effect other people, the government needs to do something about it. That is simple logic.

If the constituency which elected that government so desires it. Government does not need to do anything which it is not commanded to do. Government is not AI like some people seem to think, stepping in and thinking for you so you don't have to. At least not yet.

I think there should be mandatory licensing for posting such ill-conceived opinions. Not really, but I'm sure you see my point.

If you are really concerned about the health and well-being of children, do whatever you can to make sure that parents have whatever resources they need to raise a healthy child. But you nor the government are in any position to arbitrate who is "allowed" to be a parent. Talk about playing God.

In fact, with the exception of certain obvious and extreme circumstances, I am even against CPS interfering with families as things stand today. Too many kids are still dieing at the hands of their parents, while other kids who had a parent that might have made a simple mistake are turned over to group/foster homes where abuse is rampant and systematic.

In the end, you have to accept that not all children will grow to be adults, no matter how much you want to impose your will on others.

As I mentioned in that post. I have seen a number of women, meaning adults who should not have children.

Most of them had their kids as teens or fresh out of high school. Point is they were adults who did not have the ability to raise a child at least not properly. I can think of two adult parents who were still raising teens of their own they did nothing but party all the time. It is no wonder their teens ended up the way they did. One was a teen mother, and the other two dropped out of school. They were not teaching their children any form of responsibility. Let me just say that just because they were adults does not mean they were adult in their actions.

Pardon me but where did I say anything about race? I don’t care what your beliefs are or what your color is I only care if you are able to raise a child without purposely harming them.

Maybe you have some underlying racial issues that need to be discussed but I could care less about ones race. People are people, abusers are abusers it runs across all boards not excluding any.

If you go back and read all of my posts you can put the idea together as one full that still needs to be worked on. I never said it was complete or who would decide, even others have pitched some ideas on how to better the plan.

The plan was not about taking kids away from families that would do their best to raise a child in a good manner. More so it is about the cases you mention where the kids are dying at the hands of parents. I am sick of hearing that there are kids being harmed by parents. Even those who promote the ideas of one race being above another do not deserve to have kids because of the hate they may spread.
The idea was not about taking the rights away from people but more so protecting the rights of a child. Children’s rights to be free of an idiot parent far out way the parent’s right to have that child. No matter what anyone says there are people out there who do not need kids and should be kept from having them. This is a way that needs work but could prove useful in doing so.

You're never going to stop that. If you want to cut down on it, you have to get to the root causes. Lack of money most of the time. Wether it's passive neglect, or a violent eruption due to frustration, money is so often at the root of it. Even when it comes to simple ignorance in parents who really didn't know any better than to tie up a kid who is acting up, for example.

You want to know what would be really effective? Stop forcing fathers to pay child support.

If women knew that they alone were responsible for their own decisions, there would be a lot less of them cranking out kids to steal a man's paycheck for the next 18 years. The kids wind up ignored, neglected and abused, while Mommy gets her hair and nails done before she hits the club.

You would also keep a lot of men from beating the crap out of these gold-digging vampires and their spawn. Little surprise too that these men treat the kids like crap when they didn't even want them in the first place.

Even those who promote the ideas of one race being above another do not deserve to have kids because of the hate they may spread.

Why stop there? Maybe only Vegans deserve to reproduce.

I'm no racist, but you're not going to end racism by telling racists they can't have children. After all, you would be making their point for them wouldn't you? Racism is rooted in the fear that their family line is being put in jeopardy.

Child care should be one of those things they teach in school...Maybe if girls had to spend a week taking care of a real baby for 8 hours a day they wouldn't be so careless, or even worse, wanting to get pregnant.

Yes, sc2099, Star!

I saw something recently, while shopping for food in a store: A young
guy & girl were carrying a very realistic, mechanical baby around with
them. They were treating this baby doll as if he were real. When the baby
cried, the young couple had to stop, and care for the synthetic infant by
tending to a pre-determined 'need'.

If the plastic baby was hungry or thirsty, they fed w/bottle. If he messed
his diaper, they had to change it. If it needed love, they had to coddle
him. etc...

The baby would not stop crying, until the couple satisfied one or all of the
baby's needs.

I've seen this a few times now, and realized it must be some kind of
program started by a local High School.

I have to applaud the school for this attempt at teaching potential parents
about the responsibility of childcare! It's a good start, I think.

When I was in H.S. back in the late 70's, nothing like this was being done.
Our 'Health' teacher was dating one of my classmates!!!

But for me, I will never understand why "WANTING" a child is a valid
excuse for having a child.

A star for you as well! You make a lot of great suggestions, expecially leaning towards the 'it takes a village' thinking, because it truly does.

WHEW! Thank you SO much, space; thought I was gonna get torn a new
one for my remarks! Glad you agree, my newest 'friend'.

For those of you who remember what a 'normal' childhood was like, we all had neighbors who watched over everyone's kids, keeping an eye out

YES, mine was normal, except for the violent beatings. We must be of
similar vintage!

Back then, everyone had a mother at home, and a father at work. All the
parents rotated driving us to various extra-curricular activities, like
Altar Boy rehersal at church; Sunday school and weeknight Bible Study;
Sports; Scouts; Volunteer jobs; etc...

It was nice to be part of those groups, those friendships remain as my
strongest old-time connections, to this day!

The "Village" actually existed back then; today, not as much, it seems.

not everyone's mom was stay at home in the 70's. mine wasn't and quite a few of my friends worked also. there might be more women in the workforce now, but there has always been women in the workforce!

as far as fathers not being forced to pay child support...
well...
this years projected deficit will be somewhere around $407 billion...if mom can't earn enough to provide for a family, and dad doesn't, who do you think will end up doing it. and don't just say we should just put them in foster care. the system is for the most part a series of nightmares waiting to happen! there is no realistic assurance that the home you place them in isn't worse than the one you took them out. and well......foster care is partially paid for by guess what.....gov't funds!!! besides, you can't legally take children from their parents based on the fact that they just can't nail one of those becomming very rare jobs out there that will actually pay enough to properly support a family.
as far as girls having babies for checks......there was a time when I would have said you were nuts for suggesting it, but well, after observing some of these girls, I got to wonder. in which case, all I can say is.....I'm sorry, I think my generaton has raised a bunch of very stupid people, niether the guys nor the gals seem to have the foresight to see just how badly their behavior is totally screwing up their lives! but that stupidity doesn't give you validation to pass you responsibility off to the taxpayers, sorry.

general practioners, pediatricians and the family and loved ones of new mothers are the ones who need to be armed with the information to spot the warning signs of post partum.

But even more than that mothers need to be educated warned and the stigma removed from the situation. They also need support such as is offered in the Uk to benefit both baby and mother and also catch early warning signs of PPD.

Being a mother to a new born especially the first time around can be totally overwhelming. I remember falling asleep with my head slumped on the arm of the grocery cart, falling asleep while boiling nipples and nearly burning the house down and crying a whole lot out of sheer exshaustion. and none of that was post partum is was simply the side effect of being 21 with a new baby and a totally un-supportive husband.

And as a previously single mother who was young and not in a mothering sort of lifestyle before I became pregnant I also ask how on earth you could screen people before allowing them to conceive.

That is actually the whole point. Examine people through government set parameters that in the long run have nothing to do with good-parenting, but some ulterior agenda that is a crime against humanity.

I applaud your rare ablilty to do what you say here that you have accomplished as a teen mother, and you would be living proof that my statement of 'no teens are ready mentally or finacially' is incorrect, however Lynn, you do realize that you are an eception to what is going on in the majority of most teen mother's lives. Maury Povich has made millions and is never short of teen mothers for every day of the week who love to tout what is the 'norm' among teen mothers.
