Aug 2nd
Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Near Orleans
This began about 11:00-11:30PM
Flashes began to light up the sky, apparently coming from the east (from the ocean)
They continued practically all night. There was no thunder or sound of any kind (not lightning)
There were flashes 1-5 times each time, and each cluster came 10-30 seconds apart (not a lighthouse.) Times and amounts varied.
Wasn't there another person who reported something similar in the SE on the same day?
Did anyone else see anything in the area or anything at all?
ATS, help me out here! It was really odd.
Please respond on what you think. I need some help!

Just a while ago there was a flash that lit up my whole room its happened once before, I live i the UK, and i was a bit confused to what it could be. At first i thought well maybe it was lightning, but there were no clouds or no following thunder, also no more flashes so it couldn't have been lightning. The only other thing that i could think it have been was a camera flash but the brightness of the flash, the camera would have had to been right at my window.

I went downstairs and asked my parents if they saw the flash but they just looked at me confused and said "What flash?"

It also was impossible to be car lights because my window doesn't look out onto any roads.

Hate to say it but everytime I hear someone describe "flash". Heat lightning is the first thing that comes to mind. Especially in the northeastern, usa. Not sure if that is what you saw though.

Thank you for the tip off.

Yes, i live on Cape Cod, very close to Hyannis, but as it happened i spent the night of the second in Mashpee just a little further inland, babysitting a 57 year old woman who was ill. (Most of us are ill with Vertigo and stomach problems here)
Ironic because i stayed up all night and I didnt see any flashes----HOWEVER, LAST WEEK. there were these unexplainable flashes to the west of me in the middle of the night, and this time i was home and couldnt figure out what to think. Well, it rained, as it turned out, but flashes without any rumblings like you get when theres a storm coming??
The next day everyone was talking about the flashes, and not everyone was convinced of what they were. Otis Airforce Base is very close by, and who knows.....

Weird things are happening, nothing here on the news about MORE flashes on the 2nd, and i didnt see them this time.

Sorry i cant be of more help
