Iran Test Fires 'New Weapon' at Sea

www.foxnews.com

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran tested a new weapon for use at sea and says it can "easily" close a major oil passageway, the chief of the country's elite Revolutionary Guards was quoted Monday as saying by the official IRNA news agency.

The commander, Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafari, claimed the new marine weapon is "unique in the world" and has a range of 186 miles.

The report provided no further details and didn't say when or where the weapon was tested, but it quoted Jafari as saying that there is "no similar weapon in the service of armies in the world." The alleged new weapon's range indicated it may be some type of torpedo.

The Revolutionary Guards chief said Iran would easily be able to close the Strait of Hormuz, a major oil shipping route, if the country were attacked over its nuclear program.

Iran has "the possibility of closing the Strait of Hormuz easily and on an unlimited basis," Revolutionary Guards commander-in-chief Mohammad Ali Jafari said, according to state radio.

Iran and the West are locked in a standoff on the country's disputed uranium enrichment program, which the U.S. and its allies fear is aimed at making nuclear weapons. Iran denies the charge and says the program is only for producing electricity.

To show their readiness to defend, the Guards test fired missiles and torpedoes in the Persian Gulf last month, and Tehran claimed it tested a new Shahab missile with a range of 1,250 miles.

In case of a possible strike on Iran, Jafari said the country will respond in every way it can. The enemy, he said, would prefer to make the duration of the war as short as possible.

But, "we will prolong it," Jafari said.

I think that The president will not be executed but rather destroyed, by a series of bombing from U.S ARMY Aircraft, in Iran.

Just waiting for US to invade...

I'm not sure what source is least credible, the Iranian military or Fox news.
Either way they share a common interest in trying to scare up some fear in the common folk. Pretty soon (if we haven't already) we are going to be asked, "who is better qualified to handle this crisis with Iran?" McCain (wink, wink,) or Obama.
Don't you guys remember how funny it was to listen to that Iraqi spokesman talking about how they were kicking our ass at the Baghdad airport and every place else through out Iraq? The mouth pieces in Iran is no different.
There will not be any invasion of Iran. If we air strike some targets it will only happen with the behind close door blessings of the major powers. We will make deals with Russia and China that they probably have already extorted from us, because they know how badly our current administration and the Republican party needs to control this hollywood script.
Amadinajad wants his growing and enlightened young population to look away from the west and global community and to do that you want to spark nationalism. Iran needs an enemy or enemies that threaten their way of life, their existence. Gee, sound like any other Country we know.
The Republican's, McCain especially, needs this conflict with Iran. So do the Mullah's and Amadinejad. (who has as much real power in that country as Pelosi has here....maybe even less.)
So, just follow all the news concerning the "Iran conflict" as the Wag the dog devise it truly is. Or the political equivilent to the World Federation of Wrestling.
....oh, and if you back McCain this year, at least do it for any other reason other than "he is best qualified to handle Iran". Seriously, find any other reason.

Are people on ATS seriously considering mainstream news as authority of truth? It truly doesn't matter what yellow journalism you watch and consider - as it's all corporate cowardess, but FOX has got to be the bottom of that proverbial barrel. Does there even remain a debate about this?!?

EDIT:

Whew! After clicking on bodrul's link, I feel quite reassured that we haven't lost our sense of objectivity nearly as much as...lol..."Faux News." Just remember people...Fox isn't the only corporate backed propaganda machiné. In fact, I dare say that anything on the idiot box is meant for just that.
