French Space Agency to publish ufo phenomena

www.ufonews.in

PARIS (Reuters) - The French space agency is to publish its archive of UFO sightings and other phenomena online, but will keep the names of those who reported them off the site to protect them from pestering by space fanatics.
Jacques Arnould, an official at the National Space Studies Center (CNES), said the French database of around 1,600 incidents would go live in late January or mid-February. He said the CNES had been collecting statements and documents for almost 30 years to archive and study them. "Often they are made to the Gendarmerie, which provides an official witness statement ... and some come from airline pilots," he said by telephone.
Given the success of films about visitations from outer space like "E.T.", "Close Encounters of The Third Kind" and "Independence Day", the CNES archive is likely to prove a hit. It consists of around 6,000 reports, many relating to the same incident, filed by the public and airline professionals. Their names would not be published to protect their privacy, Arnould said.
Advances in technology over the past three decades had prompted the decision to put the archive online, he said, adding it would likely be available via the CNES website www.cnes.fr.

Anyone else hear anything about this? All UFO Secrets Must Be Disclosed
In an unprecedented exclusive interview to A. J. Gevaerd, editor of the Brazilian UFO Magazine, one the highest ranking and most distinguished officials of the Brazilian Air Force, Brigadier José Carlos Pereira, recognized that "it is time to end the UFO secrecy".
The part one of the long interview has just been published in the edition # 141, April, of the Brazilian UFO Magazine. If you don't see the cover of it below, hit www.ufo.com.br/public/pereira/UFO-141.jpg. Photos of Brigadier Pereira can be also found in the same folder.
This interview was conducted with the participation of Fernando de Aragao Ramalho and Roberto Affonso Beck, special consultants to Brazilian UFO Magazine. The translation to English was conducted by Eduardo Rado, From the Brazilian UFO Magazine Team.
During the first ever official meeting between members of the Brazilian Committee of Ufologists (CBU) and military of the Brazilian Air Force held on May 20th 2005, at the Brazilian Airspace Defense Command (Comdabra) headquarters, Brigadier Jose Carlos Pereira, a former commander of the body from 1999 to 2001, has shown a special interest in the subject. At the end of the meeting, he escorted the ufologists himself to the exit door of the building and after receiving some issues of Brazilian UFO Magazine declared: "I thank you for the gift, but I should say that I always buy the magazine at Brasilia newsstands". In an informal way and with no reservation Pereira confirmed his high interest and level of information regarding UFO matters.

I'm glad they're doing it, but really, all of this sort of information has been out there for a very long time, even here in the US. People who don't believe, aren't going to believe no matter what you show them.

A UFO could land on their head and they would tell you that it was an Airforce project.

And if the aliens landed on the front lawn of the White House to greet the President, people would say it was staged for political gain.

This is true indeed. I like the analogy of landing on one's head though!

Seems theres a new news lead on big document disclosures a lot these last few months. I'm glad that other major countries are taking initiative on releasing some documentation..... Do you really believe that they will disclose everything though??? Probably not IMO. It's still a big step in the right direction though. I tend to lean toward the slow disclosure theory every time i hear about government related disclosure.

I don't think we're ever going to have a world leader come strait forward say "hey poppulace we've been in contact with aliens for the last 65 years... oh and they've been here since the dawn of man keeping tabs on us" never gonna happen. I'm not complaining though. 6,000 reports should give us some good reading material for a hwile though
