Often times love is about sacrifice... It is clear that this family has sacrificed plenty to give Dani a normal life. Please let this be a lesson to people on many levels. Sex may be fun, but it also creates life. Children are the purest form of love, and if that love is neglected, the universe if also neglected.

Part One: The Feral Child

PLANT CITY — The family had lived in the rundown rental house for almost three years when someone first saw a child's face in the window.

A little girl, pale, with dark eyes, lifted a dirty blanket above the broken glass and peered out, one neighbor remembered.

Everyone knew a woman lived in the house with her boyfriend and two adult sons. But they had never seen a child there, had never noticed anyone playing in the overgrown yard.

The girl looked young, 5 or 6, and thin. Too thin. Her cheeks seemed sunken; her eyes were lost.

The child stared into the square of sunlight, then slipped away.

Months went by. The face never reappeared.

I have such a mixture of emotions right now.
I truly don't know how to express myself.

I need some time to wrap my brain around this story.
Thank you for posting it. It makes me wonder how many other children are going through this.

I wondered the same, it broke my heart to read this. I couldn't believe something like this could happen in this modern time. It also made me wonder why, if we know that the first five years are so important; How come child development education is not a prerequisite in our society.

Thats the worst peice of horror ive read in a while... Almost as bad as the Guy that baricaded his daughter, and other children in the basement for years..

I hope this girl turns out well, the parents are angels...

And her birth mother is one sick peice of work...

There is no way to even comment on this... it just is a blow to the mind...

That is pretty much the same way I felt about it. Her mother did have a 70 something IQ though, so I felt a little better about it. I am amazed that the child protection didn't do anything early on though. She definitely fell through the cracks for awhile.

However, she would not have been adopted by those wonderful people. Just think of how much of a challenge that would be? And the heart ache of having to watch Dani's challenges. It stories like this that help me to see the love in the world.

Amazing things can happen... I have witnessed it with myself, and with people around me. One must open their hearts to the love in the world. Some people choose to be where they are, some because it's serves them... others because they do not know their is more out there.
