The hidden agenda is simple enough. The democrats and most of the republicans do not work for the American people or for American interests. They largely work for foreign bankers and foreign oilmen IMHO. They have no intention of interrupting the gravy train. At least not until it achieves the desired goal of turning America into a third world slave state. So we just need to keep voting D since it's the party of 'change'. As Obama once said,

"My friends, we live in the greatest nation in the history of the world. I hope you'll join me as we try to change it."

Yup, let's change America so that's another 3rd world Muslim hell hole. Another great Obama quote,

"I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."

Well look, if Dubyah didn't sink untold trillions of dollars into Iraq, the money could have been put to better uses such as energy research. Truth is (and I work in research) that science budgets aren't doing well these days.

Actually, it should really be the private sector that works to come up with alternative energy options. That would be much more effective than leaving it up to the government anyway.

Actually the truth behind that is suppose to be Physiological in an effort to force oil producing countries to increase production to lower the prices.
This worked back in the 90s but now is not going to work because we now have the speculators manipulating the oil markets.

Back in the 90s the government even put aside a budget to pursue oil alternatives, after the prices of oil were dramatically reduced the budget was forgotten.

Speculation in the oil market can drive the price either way. It can go higher or lower, depending on the future forecast of supply vs demand. Besides, I'm not talking about getting more oil from other counties. I'm saying that we need to drill for our own oil while we work on alternative energy sources. It would be a lot better than being dependent on other countries for the next ten to twenty years.

I agree. I think it is all the more reason to start letting the private sector take charge of drilling for more oil and developing alternative fuel sources. It would certainly be a lot better than letting the government have all the control.

The only thing I want the government to do is get out of the way.
