Could disclosure be coming because of the looming possibility of commercial space flights?

Think about it with all the talk these days of Astronauts claiming to have seen extraterrestrial craft while in space flight, space craft videos from the shuttle. Maybe we are being softened up for the possibility of now seeing it for ourselves.

Its a good point, either this or they are some how connected to Virgin and they think that there will be more interest in their new venture if you have the possibility of seeing something up there.

It wouldn't surprise me, cause at 200 grand a ticket they would need some heavy marketing. (Not that going up to space would be enough)!!!

Peace

I was thinking the same thing after watching the news reports on the new Virgin shuttle. The day this is launched (if there isn't some kind of horrible accident, which grounds the shuttle indefinately), i'm sure the occupants will return with wild stories of ufos and other worldy ships.

Ah ha! Intriguing angle. I suppose that also presents the possibility that the alien/UFO phenomenon could presently be nothing more than a marketing gimmick aimed at rich tourists and wealthy sight-seers. Sort of a cosmic freak-show or ET safari...

Good theory, Let's say thier are commercial space flights and one would assume pictures. Will they too all be labelled as photoshopped hoaxes? Think about the possibilities..

That is a great angle on it. Cash makes the world go round. Here I found another article on the “virgin galactic mothership”. The government could be leaking information slowly to offset people’s reaction to eventually learning the truth or as you say it could all be a marketing ploy created by virgin to feed the cash cow.

Yeah the cat would definitely be out of the bag. Not to mention with the price tag on these flights there would be some very “credible” witness’s holding the evidence. It will be very interesting to see this whole program take shape and become reality.

If UFO sightings did take there would probably have to be a non-disclosure agreement already signed and in place during the ticket purchase.

People who have the money for it would go for having been into outer space, dismissing any alien stories that might emerge. Then they would experience it themselves also, depending on how they made their money they might or might not tell. Only the rich and famous would know at first perhaps.

Or the commercial flights would be sabotaged by some covert government operation making it look unsafe and postponing them altogether.

The privy to that information would be the ones in the know to begin with, but the places that they would be taken would be clear of any military or ufo occupation. You get a string of mirrors together and project them back to people and you can create a holographic projection on what is seen out there.

Last I heard was somebody making a trip out there for two hundred thousand dollars, now that is not alot but many would have to budget their money to make that trip.

Also I think you reach the void of space right before you go vertical.

Also how far is it that they go to the Stratosphere, can't remember.

$200,000

What a very interesting thought smokescreen. I never even thought of that angle. Entirely possible.

Awesome thread and I think you are absolutely right. It has been my belief that is only when private businesses get into space that average joe blow will get to too.

And only then will the general public know that we are not alone.

Here's a little more softening up for you fellows

All these pics and more can be found at Spaceport America

I dream of going to space. No government is going to make that happen for regular guys like me. But private business will — because there are customers willing to pay for it. The bottom line is still the bottom line, even out on the final frontier.

Could not have put it any better.

great thoughts never really considered this possibility. and if this isnt the case that they are softening us up, then they'll be made to look like fools as soon as one is seen by joeblow and the impact on their public relations would be severe.......... I kinda hope we find out this way (joe blow on vacation with video cam) so that everyday people will realize how manipulative and secretive our governments have been.... if they do disclose people will forgive them and they will continue to have the proverbial wool pulled over thier eyes

Great point. It could be a mass marketing scheme for whoever controls space tourism first.

"But there are also important common strands in modern popular culture. Science fiction and particularly space fiction, international organisations such as the Young Astronauts Club, and the world-wide popularity of big-budget space-related films such as "2001" or "Star Wars" suggest that people in many countries enjoy these ideas. Thus, although it is possible that Japanese people are more interested in space travel than other countries, it seems likely that such an interest is also widespread in America and Europe".

Quote from a market reseach study done on space tours and travel in 1994.

EXCELLENT POINT! I WOULD HAVE NEVER EXPECTED THE GOV'T TO STOOP SO LOW. I KNOW THEY HAVE DONE SOME DASTARDLY DEEDS BUT THIS ONE TAKES THE CAKE. I THINK YOU HAVE OPENED THE DOOR TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF POSSIBLITIES. WHAT WILL THEY COME UP WITH NEXT.........MAYBE JOHN DEERE WILL START USING THE CROP CIRCLE HOAX TO MARKET A NEW TRACTOR!?!

The aliens are here for Richard Branson and his 'virgin condoms'. Let them take him . I wonder if anyone has or is going to join the 100mile high club, has anyone had zero- g nookie in a shuttle yet?

EEEwww I just had a thought of an astronaut shouting 'we have lift off, yee haaaa' or 'prepare for docking' , or in the event of non functioning equipment saying ' Houston , we have a problem...'.

If you believe in the notion that our governments have covered up the subject for over 60 years I don't believe one private venture into sub-orbit territory is a part of any type of disclosure. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if one of the first flights has some type of accident, causing the business to shut down. IMO our governments are so dead-set on maintaining this secret they will go to any length necessary to keep it even if it means sabotage to private entrepreneurs.

That is a really interesting theory, something I never would have thought of. It could be correct. We shall see what those who go in space come back and tell us, if the truth is not released already.

Either way these new space trips have me in amazement and no longer scoffing at a teacher's theory that in less than a hundred years they could have commercial visits to the moon. We may very well have hotels there at some point. (I'd be curious to see how they figure out breathing issues but I'll probably be dead and gone by then)

Yeah its possible, judging by those nasa videos, if people start taking regular visits to low earth orbit it might not be long until we find out.

great article and photos!
although something tells me that even though "normal joe" passengers may have the option to take photos, even publish them when they return to earth, i still bet that unless it's shown on CNN, that nobody will listen or believe.

kudos to branson for being so fast forward!
