PCSO in 'drugs factory' hot water

news.bbc.co.uk

Another article with video here!

A police community support officer's Cambridgeshire home was mistakenly targeted as a cannabis factory by a force helicopter's infra-red camera.

The home of Sawston PCSO Zally Huseyen, 46, was emitting so much heat police thought it could be cultivating industrial quantities of the drug.

What is the world coming to?

Make sure you have adequate insulation folks...

...if your home emits too much heat you could have the cops knocking down your door assuming you are running a dope factory!

I always wondered if police helicopters could detect drug labs via spectroscopy or some other means. Heat signatures though.... dunno about that.

If I read this right, at least they investigated the situation instead of raiding. In the U.S., a militiary-style raid would have been done first and then the information of why the house was emitting too much heat obtained. Of course, everyone might be dead but at least they weren't growing pot.

This ridiculous, overzealous drug war must end worldwide.

It's been somewhat 'common' knowledge that large indoor operations create lots of heat and draw lots of electricity.......the meter reader may even report you if you 'suddenly' begin to use an inordinate amount of power each month!!

excellent point frayed1 - didnt think about the energy consumption.

A little hard to explain £1000 per month electricity bills.

Oh. Actually mabe it is quite easy to do in the UK as we are being fleeced by the energy companies and cosmic prices

Al Gore better paint "Not growing pot, just an electricity hog" on top of his mansion or US police may be conducting a riad on him soon.

Radar Operator: "We're getting a massive heat signature down there!"
Pilot: "Where? You mean over there by that superheated steam vent and hot springs?"
Radar Operator: "No, bigger and hotter than that. Off to the East at that giant mansion!"
Pilot: "Oh, that's just Al Gore. He enjoys a well lit room but buys carbon offsets so it's OK."
Radar Operator: "Gotcha. Let's raid that small family home over there for kicks."
Pilot: "Setting 'er down!"
